Tang San ended the previous timeline’s God War as the wielder of the Asura Divine Sword, standing victorious over the defeated Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue. Ye Yuan then activated the Primordial Bell at the cost of his soul, reversing time and returning the continent to the past. 1

Reborn as a five-year-old in Holy Spirit Village, Tang San retained memories from two lives and initially believed his foreknowledge, Twin Spirits, and Tang Sect techniques would let him repeat his rise. His confidence collapsed when Tang Hao revealed that Spirit Hall had begun an early holy war and was advancing toward Fasino Province before Tang San had even awakened a martial soul. 1 2

Tang San quickly inferred that the radically accelerated war and Spirit Hall's precise pursuit of his family could only mean that an unknown party on Spirit Hall's side possessed knowledge that should not exist in this timeline. Personality

Tang San begins the new timeline supremely confident in his former status as the Sea God and Asura God. He believes that memories from his past lives make Spirit Hall’s eventual defeat inevitable, but repeated setbacks replace that certainty with fear, rage, and humiliation. 1 16

He remains calculating under pressure. Even while emotionally collapsing beneath the Defensive Clan estate, he prevents Titan from making a suicidal stand and orders an escape through the hidden tunnel. 16 His survival instincts endure even after being crippled and imprisoned, as he chooses to fight the Fallen Ones rather than surrender. 45

Tang San is intensely suspicious of potential betrayal. Yu Xiaogang’s accusation against Ning Fengzhi causes him to prepare an assassination attempt despite his dependence on the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, accelerating the collapse of their alliance. 33

The Capital of Slaughter erodes much of his former restraint and dignity. Starvation, torture, and the Bat King's coercion reduce him to killing with bites, claws, and poisonous gas, while his fixation on revenge against Ye Yuan becomes the primary force sustaining him. 55 72 79

Spirit Hall’s Early Hunt

Spirit Hall identifies Tang San as a future threat and begins pursuing him before his martial-soul awakening. Tang Hao attempts to protect him from five Titled Douluo by detonating all nine soul rings, losing his right arm and much of his strength in the escape. 1 2

Titan locates the father and son, but Spirit Hall tracks them to the Power Clan estate. Sword Douluo Chen Xin and Bone Douluo Gu Rong rescue Tang San, Tang Hao, and Titan; the Power Clan is subsequently exterminated. 6 7 8

Longxing City Escape

Tang San is moved to Longxing City with Tang Hao and Gu Rong. When Ye Yuan’s Genesis Nullification destroys Niu Gao’s defenses, Tang San recognizes that Ye Yuan can defeat opponents far above his own level. 13 15 16

Rather than allow Titan to die in a hopeless battle, Tang San orders a retreat through the Defensive Clan’s hidden underground passage. The surviving group escapes toward Blue Ba Academy. 16 17

Blue Ba Academy’s Collapse

At Blue Ba Academy, Tang San regains confidence after Yu Xiaogang proposes gathering sect allies and producing Tang Sect Hidden Weapons. Spirit Hall’s misinformation campaign then fractures the resistance, leading Tang San to suspect Ning Fengzhi of selling him out. 21 32 33

After Sword Douluo is maimed in Spirit Hall’s trap at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Ning Fengzhi turns against Tang San. Tang San is imprisoned and compelled to surrender hidden-weapon blueprints and information about immortal herbs. 34 35 38

Crippling and Captivity

During Tang Xiao’s failed rescue attempt, Tang San is left behind after Bai He is killed by Golden Crocodile Douluo. Because Spirit Hall is ordered not to kill him, Ye Yuan instead permits Hu Liena to cripple his legs by severing both heel tendons. 40 41

The figure believed to be Tang Chen abducts Tang San, but is revealed to be the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King controlling Tang Chen’s body. The Bat King imprisons Tang San in the Capital of Slaughter, intending to force him through one hundred Hell Slaughter Arena victories before using him as a vessel and blood sacrifice for the Asura God’s inheritance. 41 45

Forced Awakening and Degradation

Tang San survives the Capital of Slaughter by fighting Fallen Ones, eating sewer rats, and eventually killing captors for food and blood. Yu Xiaogang escapes Spirit City and reaches Tang San after enduring the same degradation, bringing a forbidden forced-awakening formation with him. 55 56

The Adversity Bloodfiend Forced Awakening Formation catastrophically fails. Instead of awakening Tang San's Clear Sky Hammer and Blue Silver Emperor, it fuses him with a bloated, pig-like mutated martial soul that permanently produces poisonous gas. 56 57

Yu Xiaogang persuades Tang San to seek the Asura inheritance through the Hell Slaughter Arena, arguing that the Bat King will nurture a promising vessel rather than immediately kill him. The Bat King secretly approves, intending to corrupt Tang San through killing intent before devouring his soul and taking his body. 58

Hell Slaughter Arena

Tang San initially works as an abused tavern servant in the Capital of Slaughter, quietly saving copper coins for materials to forge Tang Sect hidden weapons. The Bat King destroys this cautious plan by manipulating a scar-faced Soul Master into attacking him and forcing Tang San to kill in self-defense. 70 71

The Bat King then threatens to torture and kill Yu Xiaogang unless Tang San enters one Hell Slaughter Arena deathmatch every day. Forced into the arena without weapons, Tang San wins through poisonous gas, biting, claws, and other brutal improvised methods. 72

Over the following months, Tang San becomes an increasingly animalistic combatant and reaches at least fifty arena victories. The Bat King repeatedly interferes to ensure his survival, treating every victory as a means of cultivating the killing intent needed for the Asura God's inheritance. 76 79

Asura Altar Escape and Martial Soul Transformation

At the Asura Altar, Tang San mistakes Bo Saixi's arrival and the appearance of the Sea God Trident for divine rescue. His hope collapses when he learns Bo Saixi is a prisoner and Golden Crocodile Douluo has claimed the trident for Spirit Hall. 92

After Sea God's Light expels the Bat King from Tang Chen's body, the parasite attempts to possess Tang San. Tang Chen recognizes Tang San as his great-grandson, draws the Asura Divine Sword, and burns away his cultivation and life force in a failed effort to save the Clear Sky bloodline. 93 94 95

Tang Chen ultimately rescues Tang San and Yu Xiaogang from the Capital of Slaughter, but leaves them in a distant forest after destroying his own Soul Rings and origin. Once outside the Capital, Yu Xiaogang's Soul Rings bind to Tang San and reveal that Tang San has become Xiaogang's mutated martial soul. 96 97

Tang Chen entrusts Yu Xiaogang with the Clear Sky Token and asks him to take Tang San to the Clear Sky Sect's former site or surviving subordinate clans. Tang San, emotionally dependent on his teacher and consumed by revenge, accepts Yu Xiaogang's promise to pursue the Asura trials together. 97 99
