The ancient prohibition against Soul Beasts becoming gods left the race without divine protectors. Gu Yuena identifies this restriction as a major reason Soul Beasts were hunted toward extinction over the following eras 13.

By the present era, human development has compressed the Star Dou Great Forest, with populated civilian areas and armed emergency forces established around it. The Spirit Pagoda still conducts inspections of remaining wild Soul Beasts, while powerful beasts in the forest core are monitored as potential threats 1.

Appearance

Soul Beasts do not have a single standardized form. Their bodies vary drastically by species, bloodline, and cultivation.

Cultivation

Soul Beasts cultivate over time, with their power commonly measured in years. Higher cultivation can place an individual at the level of continental powerhouses, though exceptional cultivation also brings increasingly dangerous Heavenly Tribulations 20 21.

• Low-level Soul Beasts can advance rapidly when given cultivation directly, as seen in the Radiant Sunshine reward 28.
• Di Tian reached 990,000 years of cultivation after receiving the Dragon God's reward, placing him only ten thousand years from godhood 20 21.
• Cultivation alone is not the only limit on advancement; a Soul Beast's bloodline and level of life are also crucial 23 26.
