Background / History

Rescue and adoption

Tang Wulin rescues Na’er from street hooligans and brings her to the Tang household. Quiet and initially unresponsive to Tang Li, Na’er instead remains instinctively close to Tang Wulin. Her lack of a registration record leads the family to believe she may be an orphan. 13 15

Tang Wulin asks her to become her younger sister, and Na’er accepts. Tang Ziran and Lang Yue take her in with Tang Li’s approval, making her part of the Tang family. 15

Soon after her adoption, Tang Li takes Na’er with him to confront the thugs who hurt both her and Tang Wulin. Na’er notices his extreme anger and is unsettled by the violence he inflicts, though he frames it as revenge for their family. 16 17

Life with the Tang family

Na’er grows attached to the family, particularly Tang Wulin and Tang Li. She shares a sleeping area with Tang Wulin and openly admires the siblings’ closeness. 17

At her Martial Soul awakening, Na’er manifests no Martial Soul. Her family comforts her and ensures that she does not feel isolated by the result. 18

Tang Li and Tang Wulin regularly make gifts for her. Tang Li creates a small silver dragon Soul Tool from Sinking Silver; Na’er is delighted and kisses him after receiving it. 28

Returning memories and impending departure

Na’er gradually recovers memories connected to her Silver Dragon King nature. This leaves her divided between her affection for the Tang family and her responsibility to find a future for Soul Beasts. 27 28

As Gu Yue—who holds most of the Silver Dragon King’s power—begins to call for her, Na’er becomes increasingly withdrawn. She eventually stops resisting the spiritual pull and prepares to leave without waking Tang Wulin, hoping to spare her sister immediate pain. 30

Na’er opens a spatial passage outside the family home, only to find Tang Li waiting for her. She tells him that she considers the Tangs her family but must leave to face her own fate. Tang Li places a protective Demon-Sealing Pot imprint on her forehead so that he can sense her and safeguard her identity. The act leaves him severely weakened. 30 31

Na’er cares for Tang Li as he rests and briefly assumes her adult form. She kisses his forehead, leaving a silver dragon mark that eases his spiritual pain, then sends him home asleep. When Zi Ji arrives to escort her away, Na’er threatens her for showing hostility toward Tang Li and alters her memories of the encounter. Na’er leaves a letter saying that her family has come to take her home, along with gifts for Tang Li and Tang Wulin. 31 32

Shrek Academy and reunion

Na’er becomes a disciple of Atlas Douluo Yun Ming and lives on Sea God Island. She remains in contact with Tang Li through their marks, although communicating that way consumes considerable Spiritual Power. She shows him a vision of Gu Yue’s arrival and later encourages Gu Yue to approach him, while keeping their wager over Tang Li secret from him. 37 41 46 47

Tang Li makes Na’er a customized long-distance Communicator and has Gu Yue deliver it. While Na’er trains, Yali temporarily holds the device; after Na’er demonstrates her dedication and quickly masters Yun Ming’s spear techniques, Yali returns it. Na’er calls the Tang household, reassures her adoptive parents and Tang Wulin that she is well, and promises to visit. 52 58 59

Na’er subsequently travels to Eastsea City with Yali. At the train station, she rushes into Tang Li’s arms before warmly reuniting with Tang Wulin. They then head home to see Tang Ziran and Lang Yue. 72 80

Appearance

Na’er appears as a small, exceptionally beautiful girl with luminous silver hair and amethyst-like purple eyes. While Tang Li and Tang Wulin visibly grow over the years, Na’er’s outward appearance remains unchanged during her time with the family. She can also assume a mature adult form. 13 30 31

Personality

Na’er is initially quiet, confused, and reliant on Tang Wulin for comfort. When frightened by the terrifying form she perceives around Tang Li, she immediately clings to Tang Wulin rather than confronting him. 14

She is highly sensitive to others’ emotions, recognizing Tang Li’s rage before he explains why he is angry. Though still unfamiliar with ordinary life, she is observant and compassionate enough to worry that she herself has made him unhappy. 16

As her memories return, Na’er becomes more conflicted and mature. She cares deeply for Tang Li and the family that accepted her, but feels equally bound by her duty toward Soul Beasts and the influence of her main body. She leaves quietly because she does not want to involve or endanger them, yet firmly asserts that they are her family. 28 30 31

Na’er can be calculating and authoritative when protecting those bonds. She withholds her wager with Gu Yue from Tang Li and decisively punishes Zi Ji for threatening him. Away from those conflicts, she remains openly affectionate toward her family and toward Yun Ming and Yali. 31 47 58 80

Na’er possesses spiritual power tied to the Silver Dragon King. This power can drift to Tang Wulin and be drawn into the Demon-Sealing Pot, where Tang Li refines it into nourishment. 14

Spiritual Marks and Memory Alteration

• Na’er accepts a Demon-Sealing Pot core imprint on her forehead from Tang Li. It carries a measure of the artifact’s divine might, can suppress demons, fiends, and spirits, and allows him to sense her across distance. 31 32

Na’er’s childhood Martial Soul awakening produces no manifested Martial Soul. Her lack of one does not prevent the return of her memories and spiritual power; her true abilities remain largely concealed while she lives with the Tang family.
