Chapters 426–450 Vol. 5 Read

Ch. 426Mech Battle

Li Qinwu and the Traffic Light Trio prepared to ambush the approaching Ork convoy from a mountain ridge, using its height and rough terrain to offset their smaller numbers. When the convoy nearly passed them unnoticed, Yellow Warrior recited a poem insulting Orks, provoking the Orks to turn and charge the mountain.

  • Priest Busi briefed Li Qinwu and the Traffic Light Trio on Ork vehicles, tanks, Killa Kans, and Deff Dreads as they raced toward the enemy.
  • Li Qinwu studied the battlefield map and chose a rocky ridge as an ambush point, warning the others to avoid being surrounded and to retreat if necessary.
  • Li Qinwu led the Traffic Light Trio up the ridge and waited for the approaching Ork convoy.
  • The Ork convoy raced past the ridge, blaring heavy metal music and firing weapons into the sky, without noticing the Squire Mechs.
  • At Li Qinwu's signal, Yellow Warrior recited a poem calling Orks fools, and the convoy turned sharply and charged toward the ridge.

Ch. 427Battle of the Bands

Li Qinwu and the Orks began a battle on the mountain after a heavy-metal sing-off ended with him destroying their band. His squad slaughtered the charging Ork infantry, but the Ork vehicles and tanks opened fire and their mechs climbed uphill, forcing the four fighters to seek cover.

  • The Ork band blasted heavy metal from its speaker truck, and Li Qinwu used the yellow mech's loudspeaker to challenge them with a song.
  • The Ork band drowned out Li Qinwu, so he destroyed the truck and killed the performers with his Triple Plasma Cannon.
  • Enraged by the band's death, roughly two thousand Ork infantry charged uphill, and Li Qinwu and the other three mechs wiped them out with rotary laser fire.
  • Ork vehicles and tanks bombarded the summit while Ork Mechs climbed the mountain.
  • Li Qinwu ordered the four mechs to spread out, find cover, and avoid fighting the Orks head-on.

Ch. 428Ork Rocket

Li Qinwu and the other Knight Mechs fought off Ork forces attacking the mountain, destroying Killa Kans, Tanks, and two rockets. The third rocket exploded after its Ork pilot lost control, but a swarm of Ork Mechs then charged down the captured mountain.

  • Li Qinwu destroyed four Killa Kans and three Ork Tanks while moving between firing positions under heavy fire.
  • Traffic Light Trio warned Li Qinwu about three incoming Ork Rockets, and the four mechs destroyed the first two with their Laser Cannons.
  • The third rocket pursued Li Qinwu, who ran from the mountaintop toward the flatlands as the Ork Boy inside steered it after him.
  • The Ork Boy passed out after accelerating the rocket and accidentally struck its steering system, causing it to break apart and explode.
  • Li Qinwu escaped the blast and saw a swarm of Ork Mechs charging down from the captured mountain.

Ch. 429Mech melee

Li Qinwu and his three companions fought off a much larger Ork mech force, destroying many Killa Kans and Deff Dreads before their ranged weapons began to fail. They charged back up the mountain and Li Qinwu killed a Deff Dread in close combat, though Ork convoys were still closing in.

  • Li Qinwu ordered the four mechs to concentrate their weapons on the charging Killa Kans and Deff Dreads, destroying many of them with lasers, bolt rounds, and plasma.
  • Li Qinwu spotted Ork convoys circling both sides of the mountain and ordered his group to switch to melee and charge uphill before they were surrounded.
  • Li Qinwu blasted three Deff Dreads with his plasma cannons, then cleaved through Killa Kans with his hell chainsword and crushed another beneath his mech’s foot.
  • A Deff Dread charged Li Qinwu, firing its big shootas and clamping a pincer around his waist while Li Qinwu cut off its other pincer.
  • Li Qinwu struck the Deff Dread’s waist with his hell chainsword and sliced through its steel body, killing its Ork Boy pilot.

Ch. 430Mech Battle MVP Results

Li Qinwu and the Traffic Light Trio destroyed an Ork armored convoy, then captured a surviving Gretchin to spread word of his deeds. After returning to the Titan Temple, Li Qinwu persuaded Busi to equip his Knight Mech with two additional bionic arms.

  • Li Qinwu and the Traffic Light Trio fought from the summit and destroyed nearly three thousand Orks and their war machines.
  • Li Qinwu stopped the yellow Armiger Knight from killing a surviving Gretchin and ordered him to spread stories of the Gretchin Slayer.
  • The Adeptus Mechanicus recovered the Ork wreckage, and Li Qinwu returned to the Titan Temple.
  • Li Qinwu asked Busi to add two bionic arms to his Knight Mech, and demonstrated his ability to control separate movements at once.
  • Busi agreed to fit Li Qinwu's Knight Mech with two bionic mechanical arms.

Ch. 431Old Friend

Li Qinwu reunited with Norn at the front and met the Crimson Bite Chapter’s leaders, who thanked him for saving their battle-brother. After examining the unusual items Li Qinwu had brought, Captain Dolong offered to have the Chapter tow the Scimitar-class Frigate to an Industrial World for engine repairs.

  • Major Noah told Li Qinwu that Norn and his squad were resting at the front after killing an Ork Big Mek, and Li Qinwu hurried there to find him.
  • Li Qinwu sang outside Norn’s forge room until Norn opened the door and greeted his old friend.
  • Norn introduced Li Qinwu to Captain Dolong, Apothecary Desai, Chaplain Leisase, and Librarian Buddas, and Dolong thanked Li Qinwu for saving Norn.
  • Desai, Leisase, and Buddas asked Li Qinwu how he had made the injection, Sanctified Dagger, and Xiangxiang.
  • Captain Dolong said the Crimson Bite Chapter could tow Li Qinwu’s Scimitar-class Frigate to an Industrial World for engine repairs, though he could not provide a warship.

Ch. 432Progress on a Private Warship

Li Qinwu negotiated a ten-year exchange with Captain Dolong’s Crimson Bite Chapter: they would tow and help repair an Ork-held Scimitar-class Frigate, while he supplied them with sanctified items. He rejected an offer to join the Chapter, leaving his goal of becoming a Rogue Trader unchanged.

  • Captain Dolong offered to use the Crimson Bite Chapter’s ships to tow the Scimitar-class Frigate to the Industrial World for repairs.
  • Li Qinwu and the Astartes discussed their needs, and he agreed to provide 300 Regeneration Needles, 100 jars of Divine Cooling Balm, and 10 daemon-killing weapons each year for ten years.
  • Captain Dolong invited Li Qinwu to join the Chapter, but Li Qinwu refused because he wanted to become a Rogue Trader.
  • Captain Dolong and Li Qinwu finalized their partnership, with the Chapter agreeing to tow the frigate after the Ork Green Disaster ended.

Ch. 433Gretchin Majek (4,000-word chapter)

Li Qinwu devised a way to mark Ork War Workshops by disguising himself as Gretchin Majek and giving beacons to Gretchin who wanted Killa Kans or Power Armor. After sending two Gretchin toward a Big Mek’s workshop with beacons, he continued deeper into Ork territory to repeat the scheme.

  • Captain Dolong explained that the Space Marines needed to destroy Big Meks and their War Workshops to hinder Ork weapons production.
  • Li Qinwu took the beacons and asked Major Noah to secretly get him into Ork territory and provide green paint.
  • Li Qinwu disguised himself as Gretchin Majek and gave a beacon to a Gretchin who dreamed of driving a Killa Kan, persuading him to carry it to the Big Mek’s War Workshop.
  • Li Qinwu traveled farther through Ork territory and hid in a crystallized lake as an Ork squad passed by.
  • After an Ork stripped a Gretchin of his armor and threw his pistol into the lake, Li Qinwu gave him the pistol and another beacon, and the Gretchin ran toward the Big Mek’s workshop.

Ch. 434Do You Believe in Horse Monkey?

An Ork Big Mek cheated a Gretchin out of a beacon, and the Gretchin prayed for revenge to Gretchin Majek. A Big Rokkit destroyed the War Workshop, and days later Li Qinwu revealed that Horse Monkey had helped the Angels pinpoint Ork strongholds.

  • An Ork Big Mek built a Junk Tank and kicked its engine into working order.
  • The Big Mek refused the Gretchin's beacon in exchange for a Killa Kan and crushed the Gretchin's toes when he protested.
  • The Gretchin prayed for Gretchin Majek to kill the Big Mek, and a Big Rokkit struck the War Workshop, destroying it in a massive explosion.
  • The Gretchin mistook the destruction for Gretchin Majek's answer and declared that the Gretchin had a guardian deity.
  • Company Commander Dolong said the Angels' sixteen Nuclear Missiles had destroyed sixteen Ork strongholds, likely War Workshops, and asked Li Qinwu how he had found them.
  • Li Qinwu waved a plastic magic wand and said Horse Monkey had helped him locate the targets.

Ch. 435Oh No, Who Put the Holy Dagger on My Desk?

Li Qinwu stayed at the Astartes bunker and asked Chaplain Leisase and Librarian Buddas for practical ways to deal with Daemons and use Psychic Power. He learned a Daemon-Hiding Rune from Leisase and tried to tempt Buddas with a sanctified censer.

  • Li Qinwu watched Chaplain Leisase make Purity Seals and asked how to deal with Daemons, but Leisase insisted that piety was the answer.
  • Li Qinwu described a Daemon-skewering cannon and used Leisase’s holy dagger to help him disguise the weapon as an accidental drop.
  • Leisase gave Li Qinwu a Holy Rune that could hide someone from a Daemon’s sight, and Li Qinwu spent several days learning to make it.
  • Leisase considered building an automatic cannon to kill Daemons, then repented and began reciting Scripture.
  • Li Qinwu visited Librarian Buddas and asked him to teach Psychic Power techniques, then showed him a sanctified censer that protected against Warp corruption.

Ch. 436Who Put the Divine Censer on My Desk?

Li Qinwu rejected several psychic spells before learning the Soul Search Technique from Librarian Buddas. After the lesson, Buddas used the Divine Censer to dispel the Chaos Corruption on his soul, while Li Qinwu went to Apothecary Desai's room.

  • Librarian Buddas asked how Li Qinwu's Psychic Power had awakened, and Li Qinwu demonstrated its golden flames and claimed it came from the God-Emperor.
  • Li Qinwu rejected the Psychic Warhammer and Steel Purification because neither could blow up a planet and their functions did not suit his needs.
  • Librarian Buddas offered to teach Li Qinwu the Soul Search Technique, and Li Qinwu eagerly accepted.
  • Li Qinwu learned the Soul Search Technique, which Buddas warned would destroy its victims and urged him to use carefully.
  • Librarian Buddas inhaled incense from the Divine Censer and felt it dispel the Chaos Corruption on his soul, while Li Qinwu headed to Apothecary Desai's room.

Ch. 437Oops, Who Left the Green Needle on My Desk?

Li Qinwu learned that Apothecary Desai’s Black Needle could greatly enhance its user at the cost of a deadly risk, then injected himself to test it. The death check killed him, leaving Desai stunned.

  • Apothecary Desai explained that the Green Injection could heal nearly any injury but could not be mass-produced.
  • Li Qinwu proposed repeatedly harvesting Gene-seed from a healed Astartes, and Desai explained that Imperial policy restricted Astartes numbers.
  • Li Qinwu traded ten Green Needles to Desai for a dangerous Black Needle called Death Roulette.
  • Li Qinwu’s system revealed that Death Roulette had a fifty percent chance to kill him and could otherwise increase his strength, endurance, and energy.
  • Li Qinwu injected himself, suffered the fatal outcome, and died while Desai watched in horror.

Ch. 438Black Needle Formula

After Li Qinwu injected himself with the Black Needle and apparently died, the Astartes discovered his corpse had vanished and learned from Inquisitor Thraxol that Li Qinwu was a Perpetual who would revive. Li Qinwu returned to the bunker alive and set out to obtain Apothecary Desai’s Black Needle formula.

  • Apothecary Desai failed to save Li Qinwu after he injected the Black Needle, and the Astartes found his corpse had vanished from its armor.
  • Captain Dolong and the Astartes carried Li Qinwu’s empty armor to Inquisitor Thraxol, who explained that Li Qinwu was a Perpetual and would come back to life.
  • The Astartes returned to the planet, where Apothecary Desai, Librarian Buddas, and Captain Dolong argued about Li Qinwu before receiving a war dispatch that alarmed them.
  • Li Qinwu revived, found his Power Armor and weapons outside the Hideout, and flew back to the bunker to demand the Black Needle formula.

Ch. 439Company-Wipe Crisis

Li Qinwu learned that Black Iron Warboss had trapped Sergeant Norn’s squad and Captain Dolong’s rescue force in the Death Vein mine tunnels. Desai prepared to join them, leaving Li Qinwu to face the danger of the Astartes Company’s possible destruction.

  • Li Qinwu found the bunker mostly empty and discovered Desai preparing weapons and medical supplies.
  • Desai explained that Black Iron Warboss had trapped Norn’s squad after they raided an Ork War Workshop in the Death Mine.
  • Desai said he was going to recover the Gene-seed of three dead battle-brothers and stand with the Astartes fighting in the tunnels.
  • Li Qinwu reviewed the battle report and learned that destroying the Ork coal and Coking Oil facility could cripple half of their armored forces.
  • Black Iron Warboss overwhelmed Captain Dolong’s twelve-man rescue force, leaving two dead and forcing the survivors into the Death Vein tunnels.

Ch. 440Squad wipeout crisis 2

Li Qinwu negotiated with Apothecary Desai for the black injection formula in exchange for rescuing Captain Dolong and twelve Astartes trapped in the Death Vein. He assembled troops, armor, and fire support for the rescue, then headed for the Titan Temple.

  • Li Qinwu learned that Captain Dolong and twelve Astartes were trapped while the planet's remaining defenders were tied down by a planetwide Ork assault.
  • Li Qinwu offered to rescue Desai's men in exchange for the black injection formula, and Desai agreed.
  • Li Qinwu asked Inquisitor Thraxol to deploy his first five companies and vehicles to the Titan Temple and provide fire support over the Death Vein.
  • Major Noah assigned Li Qinwu eighteen Leman Russ tanks despite the ongoing attacks on the front lines.
  • Li Qinwu ordered Busi to ready his Armiger Knight with maximum firepower and piloted the Shuttle toward the Titan Temple.

Ch. 441Saving Private Norn

Li Qinwu led a mechanized force toward Ork-controlled territory to rescue Captain Dolong and the trapped Astartes, persuading the Iron Skull Archmagos to assign one thousand Skitarii to his command. The convoy entered the danger zone under the operation name “Saving Private Norn,” with Li Qinwu determined to rescue the Astartes quickly and withdraw.

  • Li Qinwu assembled his private troops, tanks, Knights, and transports outside the Titan Temple and prepared to lead the rescue.
  • The Iron Skull Archmagos tried to stop Li Qinwu from leaving, but Li Qinwu argued that rescuing the Astartes would preserve the morale of the planet’s mortal defenders.
  • The Iron Skull Archmagos transferred command of one thousand Skitarii to Busi, who agreed to assist Li Qinwu.
  • Rudosen asked to pilot a mech, but Li Qinwu tested him with complicated deployment orders and assigned him to a Chimera’s roof-mounted machine gun instead.
  • Li Qinwu’s mechanized convoy entered Ork-controlled territory after he briefed the troops on rescuing the Astartes and named the operation “Saving Private Norn.”

Ch. 442Ork Biker Mob

Li Qinwu's armored convoy fought off thousands of Ork bikers while advancing through the desert, then engaged a large Ork tank force. The chapter ended with both sides exchanging cannon fire in a chaotic tank battle.

  • Li Qinwu ordered his convoy to keep moving and attack an approaching Ork biker force.
  • The convoy's heavy weapons devastated the bikers' frontal charge, while its armor withstood most of their attacks.
  • Ork bikers tried to circle the convoy, but Skitarii transports on both flanks picked them off with precise rifle fire.
  • Hundreds of Ork tanks and armored vehicles appeared ahead, prompting Major Noah to order her Leman Russ to fire on the lead tank.
  • Major Noah's shell pierced the lead Ork tank and triggered its ammunition, destroying it and starting a full tank battle.

Ch. 443Tank Battle

Major Noah’s tank force nearly destroyed the Ork tanks, but an Ork Gargant’s massive gun devastated the convoy and resisted their fire. As the Gargant’s crew prepared to fire again, Sergeant Nie Guojin’s Chimera attacked its exposed loaders, giving Rudosen a chance to strike.

  • Leman Russ tanks and Chimera Transports destroyed many Ork tanks, while Major Noah’s gunner disabled a heavily armored twin-barreled tank with solid armor-piercing rounds.
  • An Ork Gargant fired its enormous gun, destroying a Leman Russ tank and overturning two Chimera Transports.
  • Major Noah ordered her crews to use high-explosive rounds against the Gargant’s gun shield, killing many exposed loaders but failing to stop the Orks from reloading.
  • Sergeant Nie Guojin drove a Chimera behind the Gargant and used its autocannon to kill the loaders in the open turret.
  • Rudosen climbed out of the Chimera with a melta bomb and leaped toward the Ork Gargant.

Ch. 444Tank Battle 2

Rudosen destroyed the Ork Gargant with a Melta Bomb, helping Li Qinwu’s convoy defeat the remaining Ork tanks in the sandstorm. After reporting light losses and destroying the Ork wreckage to prevent its salvage, the convoy replenished its supplies and continued on.

  • Rudosen climbed onto the Ork Gargant and fought off its Tankbustas while Sergeant Nie Guojin covered him with the Chimera Transport’s roof-mounted Logging Gun.
  • Rudosen planted a Melta Bomb on the 1,000 mm shell in the Gargant’s turret, then escaped onto the Chimera Transport as Nie Guojin sped away.
  • The Melta Bomb detonated the shell and engulfed the Gargant in an explosion, kicking up a sandstorm that Major Noah’s forces used to destroy the Ork tanks with thermal sights.
  • Li Qinwu tallied the convoy’s losses at three Chimera Transports and two Leman Russ tanks, then called in Shuttles to retrieve wrecks and replenish ammunition.
  • The red-robed workers melted the Ork vehicles, including the Gargant, with incendiary bombs, and Li Qinwu’s convoy resumed its journey after resupply.

Ch. 445Death Vein

Li Qinwu reached Death Vein and called in an orbital bombardment against the Ork siege camp while the Astartes remained safe underground. The Black Iron Warboss killed an Ork Dreadnought in the Duel Arena, then welcomed the fire falling from the sky as the fight he had been waiting for.

  • Li Qinwu inspected Death Vein, learned the Astartes were alive 1,200 meters underground, and ordered Inquisitor Thraxol to open fire.
  • Ork Boyz boarded a Great Elevator to descend into the mine and fight the Astartes.
  • The Black Iron Warboss watched the Boyz go underground because his massive frame could not fit into the mine tunnels.
  • The Black Iron Warboss fought an enraged Ork Dreadnought in the Duel Arena and tore open its cockpit, killing its pilot.
  • The Black Iron Warboss saw orbital fire descend on the Ork camp and shouted that the fight he wanted had arrived.

Ch. 446Sandstorm Battle

Li Qinwu’s forces entered the Void Shield-protected zone around Death Vein and fought the surviving Orks through a sandstorm. The battle left the four Knight Mechs under heavy fire, and Greenhead requested permission to retreat after losing an arm.

  • Inquisitor Thraxol warned Li Qinwu that a Void Shield had protected a four-kilometer area from the orbital bombardment, and he offered to intercept Ork reinforcements.
  • Li Qinwu led his troops into the shielded zone, where human vehicles and Orks exchanged fire through the dust and sand.

Ch. 447Sandstorm Showdown, Part Two

Li Qinwu’s force reached the mine and sent a Squire Mech and five hundred infantry down to support the trapped Astartes and destroy the Orks’ refinery. As the sandstorm faded, Apothecary Desai went out to recover his fallen battle-brothers’ Gene-seed, while Li Qinwu’s plasma cannons overheated and he charged the advancing Orks with Chainswords.

  • Li Qinwu led his troops through the sandstorm, destroying Ork Mechs as they advanced to the mine shaft.
  • Apothecary Desai detected his battle-brothers fighting below and ordered the elevator lowered; Li Qinwu sent a Squire Mech and five hundred infantry down with a nuclear missile to destroy the underground refinery.
  • Busi warned that the damaged elevator would need at least ten minutes for a round trip, and Apothecary Desai charged into the sandstorm to recover the fallen Astartes’ Gene-seed.
  • As the sandstorm faded, Ork forces surged toward the mine entrance, and Li Qinwu’s plasma cannons overheated, forcing him to fight with his Chainswords.

Ch. 448Showdown with Black Iron

Li Qinwu destroyed Ork walkers and tanks with his Squire Mech, driving the Orks into fear. Black Iron then appeared with Apothecary Desai captured, forcing Li Qinwu to face the Warboss without risking the captive’s life.

  • Li Qinwu destroyed two Ork Deff Dreads, dodged an Ork Tank’s main gun, and tore the tank apart.
  • Priest Busi admired Li Qinwu’s ability to control the Squire Mech while directing the Skitarii’s fire.
  • Li Qinwu brought down his fifth Ork Deff Dread, and the surviving Orks grew too afraid to challenge him.
  • Black Iron emerged from the wreckage and taunted Li Qinwu.
  • Li Qinwu saw that Black Iron held the wounded Apothecary Desai in his power claw, then Black Iron raised Desai as a shield and fired his autocannon at Li Qinwu.

Ch. 449Duel with Black Iron 2

Li Qinwu fought Black Iron while protecting Apothecary Desai and the Gene-seeds of fallen Astartes. After both Mechs lost their weapons, Li Qinwu trapped Black Iron in a contest of strength as reinforcements and Ork forces approached.

  • Black Iron repeatedly fired his Ork Boom Gun at Li Qinwu while holding Apothecary Desai as a human shield.
  • Apothecary Desai destroyed Black Iron's dakka gun and threw Li Qinwu a case containing three fallen Astartes' Gene-seeds before Black Iron crushed him.
  • Li Qinwu charged Black Iron, but Black Iron's Disintegration Field destroyed Li Qinwu's Chainsword, and the two resumed fighting with their remaining weapons.
  • Father Busi told Li Qinwu that the Great Elevator was ascending with the Astartes, while Inquisitor Thraxol warned that Ork reinforcements were approaching and his ship could not provide fire support.
  • Li Qinwu deliberately let Black Iron's claw destroy his Chainsword, then punched Black Iron and grabbed his Power Claw as Black Iron caught Li Qinwu's descending fist, leaving them locked in a contest of strength.

Ch. 450Showdown with Black Iron

Li Qinwu fought Black Iron near a deep mineshaft, using the Gretchin’s Waaagh Energy against them and eventually overpowering the Ork warlord. Just as Li Qinwu was about to kill Black Iron, a Big Mek ambushed him with an Arc Cannon, then dragged the dying Black Iron away to use as a Big Mech pilot.

  • Black Iron gained strength from thousands of cheering Gretchin and drove Li Qinwu’s Armiger Knight toward a deep mineshaft.
  • Li Qinwu frightened the Gretchin, then reignited their excitement by firing Plasma Cannons into their crowd, killing many and sending the rest fleeing.
  • With Black Iron weakened by the lost Waaagh Energy and waves of heat, Li Qinwu knocked him down, tore off both arms, and ripped his body in half.
  • A Big Mek ambushed Li Qinwu with a makeshift Arc Cannon, shocking him unconscious and severing his connection to the Squire Mech.
  • The Big Mek dragged Black Iron’s dying upper body away, intending to build him a huge mech to pilot.
