Background / History

Beirut was born in the Yulan Plane several million years ago as a Devouring God Rat, while his corresponding Prison Plane counterpart, Tru Pei, was born in the Gebados Plane. As the only Devouring God Rat among countless planes at the time, Beirut possessed an exceptionally powerful innate divine ability and rose rapidly after becoming a Highgod 49 147.

Ten thousand years before the main story, Beirut witnessed Augusta battle and kill the four ancestors of the Four Divine Beasts clan in Spatial Turbulence. While still a Highgod, he extended his near-@@REF_ENTITY_16655554@@-Artifact-tough tail into the turbulence, seized the four corpses, and dragged them into the Yulan Plane along with their Sovereign Sparks. He destroyed Augusta’s pursuing projection clone, refined one of the sparks to become a Wind Sovereign, and retained the other three 229.

Augusta’s hatred forced Beirut into a prolonged conflict that restricted his freedom. Beirut later traded half of the Four Divine Beasts’ blood essence to the Destruction Sovereign in exchange for protection of his Darkness Divine Clone, allowing that clone to operate outside the Yulan Plane as long as it avoided the Light Divine Realm. He also became publicly recognized as the Bloodpeak Sovereign’s emissary in order to protect the Four Divine Beasts clan 230.

Using the Divine Beasts’ blood essence, Beirut created the first generation of Four Ultimate Warriors, including Baruch, Linley’s ancestor. He also concealed the remaining Sovereign Sparks, selected Qing Huo as the inheritor of the Fire spark, and later identified Arnold as a candidate for the Water and Earth sparks 230.

Beirut normally appears as an elderly man in a plain black robe. His long black hair hangs loose, and his beard reaches his chest 106.

Beirut is bold, calculating, and deeply proud of his greatest gamble: stealing the Four Divine Beasts’ corpses and Sovereign Sparks directly from Augusta. He treats that act as the proudest achievement of his life and responds to Augusta’s hostility with defiance rather than submission 49 229.

He is also patient and strategic. Beirut spends millennia cultivating talent, guarding resources, arranging alliances, and selecting successors capable of strengthening the Yulan Plane faction. His support for Arnold is sincere, but it is also tied to Beirut’s long-term hope of defeating or escaping Augusta 224 258.

Despite his intimidating status, Beirut is affectionate toward those he considers family. He warmly carries Bei Bei, favors Ina, is pleased when Arnold calls him “Grandpa,” and supports Bemona’s relationship with Arnold. He can, however, be blunt and irritable toward weaker descendants who complain without cultivating seriously 108 124 213 223.

Beirut first appears while secretly observing Arnold’s enlightenment on the Magnolia River. He recognizes Arnold’s comprehension of the Water Element Technique, predicts his imminent Saint Domain breakthrough, and judges him as highly talented—though not unprecedented by Beirut’s standards 49.

Guardian of the Necropolis of the Gods

Beirut organizes the Necropolis expeditions, assigns Saint Domain entry slots, opens the South Sea passage, explains the tomb’s rules, and warns explorers against disturbing the Midgod Divine Beast Ba-Serpent. He makes clear that he cannot rescue those who become trapped within 107 108.

Patron of Arnold and Tru Pei

After Arnold seeks greater challenges, Beirut transports him into the Gebados Plane under the condition that Arnold defeat one of its Five Kings. He later tests Arnold against Odin, supports Tru Pei’s claim to freedom, and identifies Arnold as a possible Four-System Soul Mutant 124 149 150.

Revelation of His Sovereign Identity

When Arnold questions Beirut’s motives for sending him toward the Abyss of Earth, Beirut reveals his true status as a Sovereign and recounts the theft of the Four Divine Beasts’ corpses and Sovereign Sparks. He explains that Arnold’s pursuit of the Supreme Deity Token is part of a larger plan to oppose Augusta 229 230.

Building the Yulan Plane Faction

Beirut oversees Arnold’s ascension as the Water Sovereign, supplies artifacts and Sovereign’s Might for the Abyss of Earth expedition, and supports Arnold’s dangerous Gray Aura cultivation. His ultimate goal is to build enough strength within the Yulan Plane faction to free himself and Qing Huo from Augusta’s threat 231 233 258.

Final Alliance Against Augusta
