Although the house had been damaged during the Battle of New York, the United States Government had immediately dispatched personnel to repair it as soon as the war ended.

It could not be said to be exactly the same as before, but whether it was the decorations, furniture, or even everyday items, the United States Government had done its utmost to restore them. This made Ryan feel somewhat at ease upon returning to Earth once more.

He walked over to the coffee table and looked at the photographs and takeout boxes on it, his expression gradually softening.

The photo was of him and Annie, but back then he had been nowhere near as busy as he was now, and he had spent plenty of time with Annie every day.

It really was the same old taste, unchanged in the slightest. But Annie was not home right now. Where had she gone?

New York was still in ruins and under reconstruction, with construction sites everywhere and nowhere worth visiting. As for Annie's friends, he knew a few of them, but aside from the person who had betrayed Annie, she did not seem particularly close to any of them. She should not have gone looking for those people at a time like this.
