Background

Linley is Hogg Baruch’s elder son and one of the last three surviving members of the declining Baruch clan. From childhood, he carries the family’s inherited duty to restore its former glory. By the age of eight, he has already become a Level Two Mage and is studying at Entes Academy. 1 5

During a Yulan Festival reunion, Linley devotes more than a month to accompanying Wharton instead of focusing solely on training. He promises his younger brother that they will rebuild the Baruch clan together, and accepts Wharton’s confidential revised Dragonblood Manual before returning to Entes Academy. 5 The manual later accelerates Linley’s cultivation severalfold. 104

Linley enters the Magical Beast Mountain Range to obtain Magic Crystal Cores for the struggling clan, returning with wealth worth over 170,000 gold coins but bearing scars from multiple near-fatal injuries. Hogg values Linley’s life above the financial relief and reprimands him for taking such risks. 25 26

Personality

Linley is deeply family-oriented. He repeatedly risks himself to ease the Baruch clan’s burdens, protect Bebe, support Wharton, and confront the Bright Church over its connection to his mother’s fate. 25 46 48

His early drive for revenge can make him reckless. After killing King Clyde, he recognizes that his hatred and impulsiveness contributed to his capture by Pope Haintings. Even so, he refuses to surrender when faced with overwhelming power. 46

As his strength grows, Linley becomes more tactical. He uses Blackstone Prison to divide enemy forces, targets the most dangerous opponents first, and remains composed enough to counterattack even after being heavily injured. 239

Linley returns the warblade Massacre to Hogg and learns that the Bright Church is tied to his mother’s disappearance. After killing King Clyde, he is captured by Pope Haintings, survives the failed Divine Favor Descent ritual, and escapes amid the destruction of the Temple of Light. 31 46 48

He later kills Prince Shak after Shak attempts to steal Clyde’s spatial ring and resolves to enter the Magical Beast Forest for further training. 50
