Background / History

Qingwei is the daughter of Su Yuanshan and Madam Su. Her father entrusts her with managing parts of the Su Family's business, including the Su Family Shop. Her first meeting with Lin Fan occurs when he brings a large quantity of medicinal herbs to the shop; she recognizes his concealed cultivation, purchases the herbs at eighty percent of market value, and establishes a fair business relationship with him. 14

As Lin Fan repeatedly sells herbs, prey, and Ferocious Beasts through the shop, Qingwei assists him with practical matters. She gives him a Su Family VIP card, handles his weapon commission, and lends him a Forging Grade 17 spear while he waits for his superior weapon to be completed. 15 18 19 24

Her admiration for Lin Fan develops during these transactions. When he sells an intact Black-Patterned Leopard for two thousand eight hundred taels, she praises his exceptional strength and remains watching the street after his departure, blushing as she continues thinking of him. 27

After learning that Lin Fan can refine pills, Qingwei recruits him as a Su Family alchemist and family guard. She accommodates his insistence that cultivation remain his priority, grants him access to the Pill Pavilion's books, materials, and furnaces, and arranges for him to work only when the Pavilion requires additional help. 31 36 She later grants him guest elder credentials, residence within the Su Family Estate, and protection from internal harassment. 32

The Golden Guest Token she grants him also has consequences outside the estate: the White Ram Gang cancels a planned ambush because killing a guest of such standing would risk provoking the Su Family. The gang leader consequently blames Qingwei and considers abducting her if she ever leaves town. 33

Qingwei initially fears that Lin Fan's public contest against the Pill Pavilion's veteran alchemists is reckless, but she rushes to the scene, alerts her father, and covertly supports Lin Fan with High-grade Qi-Replenishing Pills during the contest. His sweeping victory confirms the value of her trust in him. 38 42 43

Following Lin Fan's victory, Su Yuanshan proposes their marriage. Qingwei waits anxiously for Lin Fan's decision; after he accepts, the pair make mutual promises of protection and companionship. They marry six days later and move into Sunset Glow Courtyard, where Qingwei leaves her shop responsibilities to cultivate, care for the household, and accompany Lin Fan. 44 45 47

Before their wedding, Qingwei assures Lin Fan that she already knows about his past and the Imperial Court's arrest warrant and is not afraid. He then removes his Disguise Art and shows her his true appearance, marking a further deepening of their trust. Despite relinquishing her shop duties after marriage, she continues receiving a monthly stipend of eight hundred taels from the Su Family. 46 66

When the White Ram Gang and the Flower Thief threaten the Su Family, Qingwei and Lin Ruoruo shelter in Sunset Glow Courtyard's concealed secret chamber while Lin Fan confronts the attackers. Unable to participate in the fighting, Qingwei places her trust in Lin Fan while remaining deeply concerned for his safety. 67 78

After Lin Fan defeats the Flower Thief and the White Ram Gang falls, Qingwei helps supervise the inventory and transfer of seized valuables to Sunset Glow Courtyard. She continues to maintain the household as the Su Family absorbs the aftermath of the gangs' destruction. 78 81

Concerned that Qingwei would remain vulnerable amid growing political and martial threats, Lin Fan begins directly assisting her cultivation with his Inner Qi. At Lin Fan's instruction, Qingwei initially conceals her Early Bright Force Realm cultivation to preserve the Su Family's hidden advantage. During her postpartum recovery, Lin Fan regularly keeps Qingwei and the twins company. When he leaves for a secluded mountain breakthrough, he gives her one of a pair of linked jade pendants so she can signal an emergency. Qingwei continues caring for the children and managing the household during Lin Fan's official mission against the Black Mountain Li Family and his later secluded cultivation. Once the twins are six months old, Qingwei helps the maids pack their clothing, blankets, valuables, and household belongings for the family's relocation from Green Mountain Town to Commandery City. Although reluctant to leave home, she looks forward to their new life. During the three-day journey, she tends the twins and draws their cradle closer when the convoy encounters danger. 117 118

In Commandery City, the family settles into a spacious rented three-section courtyard. Qingwei arranges the bedrooms with the maids and places the children's cradle in the best-lit room. She supports Lin Fan's efforts to secure resources while taking responsibility for household affairs. By this period, she has stopped actively cultivating and is content with her Early Bright Force strength; Lin Fan continues providing nearly toxin-free body-nourishing elixirs for her health. 119 129

As Ten Thousand Treasures Commerce's interference forces Lin Fan to travel for medicinal ingredients, he purchases a Mansion-Guarding Blacksteel Formation to protect Qingwei, Lin Ruoruo, and the twins during his absence. Qingwei accepts his explanation of the defensive preparations and trusts his judgment. She later calmly welcomes Chu Lingxi into the household after Lin Fan introduces the orphaned girl as his disciple. 138 145

Before departing to pursue the Demon Monk, Lin Fan explains the mission and its thirty-million-tael reward to Qingwei. He bids farewell to the household and instructs them to remain inside the estate gates while he leaves to make a breakthrough and carry out the mission. 148

After Lin Fan survives an ambush by two Transforming Force Realm experts, he abruptly asks the household to prepare to leave Commandery City. Qingwei begins packing despite her surprise. During the journey, he explains that Ten Thousand Treasures Commerce has escalated from economic suppression to assassination attempts and that he intends to seek the Azure Elixir Sect's protection. The family reaches Azure Elixir City after three days, and Qingwei subsequently settles into a hilltop courtyard within the sect, where she manages the household and cares for the twins in relative peace. Qingwei remains part of the peaceful household life Lin Fan seeks to preserve while developing stronger concealment techniques. Before leaving for his Steel Force Realm breakthrough, he asks her to care for the children. During the later attack on the Azure Elixir Sect, Qingwei drives away low-level raiders who attempt to approach the hilltop courtyard. After secretly defeating the attackers at Blackstone Valley, Lin Fan returns home and learns of her defense from Chu Lingxi. He reassures the household, shares a quiet moment with Qingwei, and goes to see the children. 182

When Lin Fan subsequently leaves to break through to the Mid Steel Force Realm in an underground cavern, he entrusts Lin Ruoruo and Chu Lingxi to Qingwei's care and instructs them to remain in the courtyard.
