Xingya, Xingguang, and Xingkong flew to Iwagakure to scatter Flying Thunder God Kunai, but Ōnoki struck Xingguang’s wings with Dust Release. As Ōnoki prepared to pursue the others, a scream behind him made him turn in horror at the sight of Tobirama Senju.

• Xingya, Xingguang, and Xingkong reached the skies above Iwagakure after flying through the night.
• Iwagakure’s sentries spotted the three, raised the alarm, and attacked them with Wind Release.
• The three threw their Flying Thunder God Kunai into Iwagakure and tried to escape.

Tobirama Senju invaded Iwagakure alone and used Flying Thunder God and Wood Release to devastate the village’s defenses. Ōnoki rallied Iwagakure’s forces and tried to stop him, but the wooden dragon continued charging through the shinobi as reinforcements arrived.

• Tobirama Senju appeared in Iwagakure and confronted Ōnoki, who ordered the civilians evacuated and summoned the village’s forces and sealing squad.
• Ōnoki attacked Tobirama Senju with Dust Release, but Tobirama escaped with Flying Thunder God.

Tobirama Senju used his Wood Human to devastate Iwagakure, overwhelming Ōnoki and its defenders. Ōnoki sent Akatsuchi to evacuate the civilians, then led the remaining ninja into a final charge as Tobirama unleashed a chain of multiplying Explosive Tags in the forest.

After learning that Tobirama Senju had killed Ōnoki and destroyed Iwagakure, the other villages and Akatsuki feared his power. Akatsuki suspended its plans and prepared to fight him, while a masked figure asked Orochimaru to reincarnate Madara Uchiha.

• Mabui told Fourth Raikage A that Ōnoki was dead and Iwagakure had been destroyed, then identified Tobirama Senju as the culprit.
• Akatsuki learned that Tobirama Senju had destroyed Iwagakure alone, and its members reacted with fear, doubt, or thoughts of leaving.

Black Zetsu persuaded Orochimaru to revive Madara Uchiha so Madara could defeat Tobirama Senju. After destroying Iwagakure, Tobirama returned to Konoha and prepared for the threats his actions would provoke.

• Black Zetsu offered Orochimaru Madara Uchiha's corpse and urged him to revive Madara to kill Tobirama Senju.
• Orochimaru accepted Black Zetsu's offer, intrigued by the hidden schemes shaping the ninja world.

• Tobirama Senju killed a Cloud ninja in the conference room and ordered Darui to tell A to send the Two-Tails and Eight-Tails to Konoha and take his own life.
• After another Cloud ninja insulted Tobirama Senju outside the conference room, Tobirama killed him too, and Darui led the survivors back to Kumogakure.

Akatsuki confronted Orochimaru in his laboratory and demanded that he use the Impure World Reincarnation for their coming war against Konoha and Tobirama Senju. Orochimaru revealed an army of resurrected Kage-level fighters, and Pain declared war on Konoha.

• Akatsuki members broke into Orochimaru's laboratory, where Orochimaru and Kabuto Yakushi had been studying White Zetsu test subjects.
• Deva Path Pain ordered Orochimaru to serve Akatsuki by preparing his forbidden technique for their attack on Konoha and Tobirama Senju.

• Uchiha Obito killed two prison guards, hid their bodies in the Kamui Dimension, and searched for Konoha's captured Jinchuriki.
• Obito found Roshi, Utakata, and Fu in a heavily guarded cell and moved to take them away.
• Hashirama Senju intercepted Obito with a powerful punch, then used Wood Release to attack while shielding the three Jinchuriki.
