Kurapika pushed open the door.
The room was a wreck. A chair lay overturned, and broken glass covered the floor. Oito huddled in a corner of the bed, clutching two-month-old Woble. She was trembling all over, tears streaming down her face. Two guards lay unconscious by the door, breathing steadily and showing no signs of injury.
There was no one else in the room.
But everyone could feel a gentle yet oppressive surge of Nen enveloping the room like cotton. If anyone approached the baby, it would attack at once.
It was the Fourteenth Prince's Nen Beast.
Gon stepped up beside Kurapika and scratched his head.
"That's weird. I can't see anyone, but I keep feeling like something's watching us."
"It's a Nen Beast." Killua scanned every corner of the room warily, a lollipop in his mouth. "Each prince has one. Only the princes and other Nen Beasts can see them. We can't."
Kurapika's fingers had already reached the pendant at his waist.
He could feel the Nen Beast hovering directly above the baby, but he couldn't pinpoint its position or tell how it attacked. If he acted rashly, he might hurt Woble.
He was about to channel his Nen and probe it with his chain.
Genos stepped forward. His mechanical eyes swept the room, pale blue scanning lines flashing across it.
"Master, Mr. Kurapika, target detected thirty centimeters directly above the baby. It is a sheep-shaped mass of Nen. It automatically absorbs all malice directed at the Fourteenth Prince and attacks any stranger who comes within one meter of the baby. Its attacks are not lethal."
Kurapika froze.
He had spent days preparing a response, and before he could use it, Genos had given him the Nen Beast's location, form, and abilities?
He didn't even need to test it
