Three paths branched off.
One to the left, one straight ahead, and one to the right.
The three openings were pitch-black, like the mouths of enormous beasts.
Everyone stopped.
"Three paths..." Leorio swallowed. "Which one?"
Kurapika walked to the junction and studied it closely.
He looked at the left opening first.
His brow furrowed.
"The left path reeks of blood," he said. "And there's a powerful Fierce Beast presence."
"Something dangerous must live in there."
Then he looked at the middle opening.
"Not a sound from the middle path," he said. "It's completely still."
"It's too quiet. That isn't normal."
"There's probably a trap."
Finally, he turned to the right opening.
"The air's very damp on the right," he said. "I can faintly hear running water."
"That should be the way to the Underground River."
Gon scratched his head.
"So we take the right path?"
Kurapika nodded.
"Yes," he said. "The Ancient People's Inscription says to follow the water to find the Underground River."
"The right path is the dampest. It should be the one."
Killua raised an eyebrow.
"What about the left path?" he asked. "Aren't we going to check it out?"
"There might be something good in there."
Kurapika shook his head.
"It's too dangerous," he said. "The Fierce Beast presence on the left is strong."
"Stronger than the Silverback Tyrant Ape."
"Our target right now is the Abyssal Poison Boar."
"There's no need to invite more trouble."
Killua pursed his lips.
"Fine," he said. "We'll do it your way."
They decided to take the right path.
Kurapika led the way.
Gon and Killua followed behind him, one on each side.
Leorio and Genos walked in the middle.
The group cautiously entered the opening on the right.
