Appearance
Sakazuki is a tall, muscular Marine with a hard, sharply carved face. During the Ohara incident, he wears a Marine coat over a black cape and a hat that obscures his eyes; later, he is shown in a crimson shirt beneath his coat. After Enies Lobby, he fights with only his remaining right arm. 16 72 244
- Wears a Marine coat and frequently carries an oppressive, formal military presence.
- Has a magma-based Logia body that can partially or fully transform into molten rock.
- Is bare-chested and tattooed during his later pirate-hunting activities. 214
- Loses his left arm to Ye Qiong during the Enies Lobby conflict. 149
Personality
Sakazuki is a ruthless adherent of “absolute justice.” He considers alleged enemies of justice to be demons who must be eliminated, and he accepts virtually any method—including killing civilians, sacrificing subordinates, and destroying Marine assets—to achieve that goal. 17 142 246
His conflict with Ye Qiong erodes his usual composure into a personal obsession. Sakazuki repeatedly seeks permission to pursue him, acts independently when restrained by Sengoku, and exploits the Night Emperor’s altered state specifically to provoke Ye Qiong into fighting recklessly. 81 141 245
Despite his brutality, Sakazuki is an experienced and observant combatant. He studies an opponent’s weaknesses, endures severe injuries without retreating, and uses psychological pressure as deliberately as his magma attacks. 75 145
Abilities & Skills
Magma-Magma Fruit
Sakazuki is a Logia user who creates, controls, and transforms into magma. His heat can melt earth, buildings, weapons, and large sections of the battlefield. 16 72 247
- Meigou — Fires a concentrated magma strike from his arm. 16 145
- Hell Hound / Dog Biting Red Lotus — Forms magma into hound- or dragon-like attacks. 74 244
- Great Eruption — Condenses enormous Haki-coated magma fists capable of piercing bodies, leveling structures, and creating volcanic devastation. 17 145 244
- Meteor Volcano / Meteor Fire Rain — Launches large numbers of magma fists like a meteor shower. 40 76
- Magma Column — Erupts magma from beneath a target, engulfing the surrounding area. 245
- Sea of Fire, Hell on Earth — Turns several miles of terrain into a volcanic lava field; the eruption shatters Ye Qiong’s spatial boundary and threatens nearby Marines as well. 246 247
- Can reform from dispersed magma and regenerate apparent injuries by shifting between solidified magma and liquid magma states. 72 245
- His Logia defenses can be bypassed by sufficiently powerful Haki and spatial attacks. 149 248
Haki and Physical Combat
Sakazuki reinforces his magma body and attacks with Armament Haki, allowing him to catch Snowfall’s blade and withstand attacks that would otherwise sever his elemental form. 72
- Uses Observation Haki to search for enemies and anticipate spatial ambushes. 70 75
- Uses Armament Haki to reinforce magma attacks and physical strikes. 17 72 244
- Retains exceptional endurance, cauterizing a near bone-deep abdominal wound with magma before resuming battle. 75
- Continues fighting at high intensity after losing an arm, though the injury leaves him at a disadvantage in his final duel with Ye Qiong. 149 244
Navy Six Powers
Sakazuki uses advanced Marine movement techniques alongside his Devil Fruit.
Tactical Manipulation
Sakazuki combines overwhelming force with calculated provocation.
- Identifies Ye Qiong’s insufficient Armament Haki as the weakness limiting Void-Breaking Punch. 75
- Anticipates Ye Qiong’s teleportation attacks and counterattacks by erupting magma from his own back. 75
- Uses the altered Night Emperor, designated A100, as a weapon to destabilize Ye Qiong emotionally. 245
- Launches a Buster Call against Enies Lobby without authorization, using the bombardment to force Ye Qiong into open conflict. 141 142
History
During the Ohara Buster Call, Vice Admiral Sakazuki kills Saul with Great Eruption, then confronts the injured Ye Qiong while demanding Olvia and Robin’s location. He fatally pierces Ye Qiong through the abdomen, but Ye Qiong traps him in a compressed spatial field and wounds him severely with R Annihilation. Kuzan prevents Sakazuki from executing the unconscious child afterward. Sakazuki also orders fire on an evacuation ship, killing civilians in accordance with his uncompromising interpretation of justice. 17
Five years later, as a Marine Admiral, Sakazuki joins Garp, Kuzan, and Borsalino in pursuing Ye Qiong at Fish-Man Island. Ye Qiong provokes him into a duel, where Sakazuki’s relentless magma assaults force him into escalating spatial techniques. Sakazuki survives Void-Breaking Punch and R Annihilation, but is rendered unconscious before Garp intervenes; Whitebeard’s commanders then force the Marines to withdraw with Sakazuki in Garp’s custody. 71 75 77 78
Sakazuki later launches an unauthorized Buster Call against Enies Lobby to eliminate Ye Qiong. He fights beside Zephyr and nearly overwhelms Ye Qiong, but Ye Qiong ultimately severs Sakazuki’s left arm during the conflict. The incident leads to Sakazuki’s public demotion to vice admiral, though he retains substantial authority. 141 145 149 152
After Ye Qiong is believed dead for two years, Sakazuki continues exterminating pirate crews. Ye Qiong’s later return exposes how deeply the earlier defeats still affect him: Sakazuki is isolated at Sabaody through Akatsuki’s deception and forced into a final duel. He deploys the altered Night Emperor against Ye Qiong and recreates Ohara’s destruction with Sea of Fire, Hell on Earth, but Ye Qiong combines spatial power, Three-Color Haki, and the Dark Night Style Ultimate to fatally pierce his magma body before executing him with Sever. 214 243 245 247 248
