Background

Tiger was once enslaved by human traffickers and branded on the chest with the Celestial Dragons’ Dragon’s Hoof. His experiences with slavery, trafficking, Marines, and pirates left him deeply distrustful of humans. He became the respected leader of the Fish-Man District before eventually relinquishing that position to Jinbe. 53 57

While climbing the Red Line to infiltrate Mary Geoise, Tiger encountered Ye Qiong. The two initially attacked one another out of suspicion, then recognized that both intended to challenge the Celestial Dragons. Tiger led the assault on the slave cages, while Ye Qiong supported him with spatial abilities and Conqueror’s Haki. Together, they freed more than 1,200 slaves and escaped the Holy Land. 44 45 50

After the raid, Tiger intended to form a pirate crew to retaliate against humanity. Ye Qiong challenged this plan, arguing that indiscriminate revenge would further endanger Fish-Man Island. He instead proposed Akatsuki: an independent organization meant to exist beyond oppression, factional conflict, and World Government control. Tiger ultimately accepted Ye Qiong’s vision and joined him. 53 58

Appearance

Tiger is a powerfully built Fish-Man with rough crimson skin, a broad waist, sharp teeth, and a prominent dorsal fin. His humanlike build and ferocious features give him an imposing presence. 45

Personality

Tiger is courageous, direct, and fiercely protective of enslaved people and Fish-Man Island. His hatred of slavery is absolute; he is equally enraged by the possibility of Fish-Men enslaving others as he is by human trafficking. 53 62

His past made him hostile toward humans, but he responds strongly to sincere respect. Ye Qiong’s apology for staring at him as a Fish-Man and his willingness to fight beside him at Mary Geoise earned Tiger’s trust unusually quickly. 45

As a leader, Tiger is serious, pragmatic, and willing to question Ye Qiong’s decisions when the organization is at risk. He recognizes Ye Qiong’s charisma and strength but stresses that leadership also requires ambition, conviction, strategy, growth, and ruthlessness. 108 111
