Joy Here, Forgetting Sea God Island
A hint of joy flashed in Zhu Zhuqing's eyes, but she quickly suppressed it, nodding even more vigorously.
"Sister Rongrong, stop laughing." Jiang Lan suddenly turned to Ning Rongrong, who was gloating, and said, "Since you're staying here, you can't just eat and drink for free. Starting today, you'll have to train too. You're a support-type Soul Master, and your body is too weak. You can't even escape. You need to at least learn a set of self-defense footwork and a few close-combat techniques."
Ning Rongrong's smile froze on her face, "Me? I want to practice too?"
"Of course." Jiang Lan put her little hands behind her back, looking like a strict little master. "In case all your teammates fall one day, at least you can still run a few steps on your own. Your father entrusted you to me... no, he entrusted the shop to me. You eat and live here for free every day, so you have to pay some tuition. Are you going to practice or not?"
Looking at Jiang Lan's chubby yet unusually serious face, and then at Zhu Zhuqing's extremely earnest expression, Ning Rongrong finally sighed resignedly, "I'll practice, okay? I'll practice, alright?"
From that day on, strange noises would start to echo from the backyard of Honey Snow Ice City every day before dawn.
Ning Rongrong was punished for having an unstable lower body and was forced to squat against the wall until her calves trembled.
Zhu Zhuqing moved among the wooden stakes again and again, her movements becoming lighter and her attacks faster and faster.
Once the sun came out, the robots in the front hall started working, while the girls in the backyard were exhausted and slumped over. Jiang Lan urged them to wash their faces and then sit back down at the table to eat breakfast.
The preliminary rounds ended in the blink of an eye, and Skywater Academy won the championship as expected.
After the competition, each team only had three days to adjust.
Three days later, a total of fifteen teams, along with their teachers and five hundred Royal Knights soldiers, a group of over a thousand people, set off for the venue of the finals.
Spirit City.
"I'm so happy here, I don't even want to Sea God Island." Jiang Lan lay lazily in Shui Yue'er's arms.
Shui Bing'er and Xue Wu sat on either side, the two women giving Jiang Lan a massage.
Yu Hairou held the grapes and fed them to Jiang Lan one by one.
"Little Guga, you're living a more comfortable life than the Crown Prince." Shui Yue'er looked down at Jiang Lan in her arms and couldn't help but poke his cheek twice.
"What's the Crown Prince?" Jiang Lan said with her eyes closed, snuggling her face into Shui Yue'er's arms like a cat that had been pampered. "He still has to call me 'Little Guga Ancestor' when he sees me. I can book this service for a month."
"You wish." Xue Wu gently tapped his forehead. "It's only for these few days on the road. Once we get to Spirit City, you'll be fighting in the competition, and so will we. Who's going to wait on you like this?"
"Then I'll enjoy this a little longer." Jiang Lan rolled over, burying her face in Shui Yue'er's arms, her voice muffled, "Life is short, we should enjoy it while we can."
"You're only six and a half years old, what's so short about life?" Shui Yue'er said with a smile, ruffling his hair.
Jiang Lan didn't speak, but simply stretched out a small, short hand and lazily made a grabbing motion in mid-air.
Yu Hairou understood, immediately picked another grape, peeled it, removed the seeds, and put it in his mouth.
"Mmm, sweet," Jiang Lan mumbled with satisfaction.
Shui Bing'er sat beside him, massaging Jiang Lan's arm while looking at him with an almost indulgent gaze.
The official road outside the carriage stretched forward in the twilight, and the procession was magnificent, led by five hundred Royal Knights soldiers, their armor gleaming and their lances like a forest.
In the middle was a long string of carriages, inside which sat team members from various academies.
Several supply trucks followed at the very back, their dust billowing into a long, pale golden line in the setting sun.
Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing were squeezed into another car, playing cat's cradle with Doro.
Doro's short arms flipped incredibly fast, Ning Rongrong lost several rounds in a row because of it. She was so angry that she kept stuffing Ju Zi into Doro's mouth.
Zhu Zhuqing closed her eyes to rest, holding a short sword in her arms. Jiang Lan had forced it on her a few days ago, saying it was for self-defense.
She didn't say thank you, but she never let her sword leave her side.
The journey was peaceful, and the ten days passed quickly.
The journey to Spirit City is already halfway complete.
On the eleventh day, while walking along the mountain path.
The captain of the Royal Knights, shouted, "Everyone on alert! Something's up!"
The Royal Knights guarding the Soul Master immediately raised their lances.
Meanwhile, the participating team members from the Soul Master Academy looked relaxed and carefree.
Just then, countless rocks began to fall from the hills on both sides like raindrops.
The knights of the knightly order raised their lances high and charged towards the falling rocks.
After deflecting the falling rocks, a whistle sounded from somewhere, and thousands of men in black suddenly appeared on the hills on both sides, rushing down at an astonishing speed.
"Enemy attack!"
"The knight commander shouted."
Before the words were even finished, the men in black on both sides of the hill had already surged down like a tide.
They were all wearing black veils, wielding curved knives, and their movements were so synchronized that they seemed to have been carved from the same mold, completely unlike the disorganized behavior of ordinary mountain bandits.
Although the royal knights were well-trained, their formation was torn apart almost instantly upon contact with such a large-scale attack.
Jiang Lan sat up from Shui Yue'er's arms almost at the same time the knight commander shouted "Enemy attack!" His lazy expression vanished, and his eyes seemed to be burning with cold fire.
He glanced at the battlefield, his brow furrowing slightly.
These men in black had a clear objective: they were targeting the participating teams from various academies.
"Yue'er, Sister Bing'er, protect Rongrong and Zhuqing." After Jiang Lan finished speaking, she sprang out of the carriage, so fast that she only left a dent in the cushions.
"Little Guga!"
Shui Bing'er reached out to pull him, but her fingertips only touched the fluttering hoodie of his Penguin Suit before he had already fallen outside the car.
Doro leaped after him, chasing Jiang Lan like a white cannonball, summoning the Ice Fire Twin Dragons from within his body as he ran.
Two small dragons, one red and one blue, swept low overhead, their flames and icy mist exploding simultaneously, sending two black-clad men who had just pounced forward flying.
"First Soul Skill - Sea God Form." Jiang Lan was in mid-air when golden light exploded on his body.
Golden armor covered his entire body, Sea God's Trident fell into his hand. The divine weapon, taller than him, drew a dazzling arc of light in the twilight.
With a single sweep of his halberd, four men in black were sent flying like broken sacks, crashing into the mountainside and never to rise again.
The surrounding academy team members were all dumbfounded.
A six-and-a-half-year-old child swept away four people with a single halberd at the very beginning. This is no Soul Master, this is a humanoid Soul Beast.
Jiang Lan had no intention of giving them a chance to get back on their feet. He twirled the Sea God's Trident in his hand, its golden light flashing like a bolt of lightning, and he crashed into the group of men in black like a golden meteor.
Wherever he went, screams and the clanging of metal mingled together. The men in black fell to either side like cut wheat, and no one could survive a single encounter with him.
