Background

Toad Style was initially one of the martial arts techniques granted through Dugu Feng’s Ouyang Feng, the Western Poison template. Its compatibility with his Toxic Toad Martial Soul makes his cultivation unusually efficient, allowing him to use poison, Soul Power, and bodily conditioning to advance the technique together. 1 2

Dugu Feng first used the technique to borrow the power of the Ink Poison Toad’s Soul Ring for meridian and physique tempering. He described its central principle as storing force “like a drawn bow” before releasing it “like an arrow loosed,” defeating motion through stillness. 2

The technique became the foundation of his Pill Venom Art. While enduring Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor Venom, Dugu Feng adopted its ultimate crouching stance, merged with his Martial Soul, and circulated toxic mist through a closed loop of pores and meridians rather than allowing it to escape. This refinement enabled the formation of his Poison Pill and elevated Toad Style to Great Mastery. 5 6

Ice-Fire Tempering at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well ultimately carried Toad Style to perfection. The completed art unified Dugu Feng’s tendons and bones, concealed its formerly aggressive aura, and enabled overwhelming physical force even without Soul Power. 9
