Finding the Ruins

Leaping Fish Marsh was fraught with danger at every step; he could not relax for even a moment. It was not because the Spirit Beasts here were particularly strong. In fact, the Spirit Beasts here were not strong at all, and compared to those of Mijia Mountain, the gap was enormous.

But the environment here was highly unusual. The Spirit Beasts either hid in the water or lived within the mud pits. Neither of those places could be easily detected by the Star Gu in Huo Hai's hands. One careless mistake, and he would be attacked by those things. Just moments ago, some strange creature had leaped out of a mud pit and attacked Huo Hai.

"Such a nuisance." Only after killing the thing that had attacked him did Huo Hai see that it was something like a giant earthworm. Its entire body was slick and slimy, and the larger it was, the more disgusting it looked.

Wiping the mud from himself, Huo Hai looked at the stretch of mud pits ahead. Left with no other choice, he casually took out a wooden stake and threw it onto the mud. This had been Huo Hai's plan from the start: since there was no road, he would simply make one himself.

With a light leap, Huo Hai landed directly on the wooden stake. Spiritual power coursed through his body as he used the technique he had learned before, tapping downward. His entire body sprang up at high speed, and when he landed again, he was already atop a large tree on the other side.
