The Star Gu ventured deeper into Gloomwind Gorge, and Huo Hai could see more and more of what lay inside. There were indeed Spirit Beasts in the gorge, but they were little better than Magic Beasts.

Because Demonicization had mutated them, Magic Beasts had coarse, bitter flesh that could not be eaten. Anyone who ate it might even be infected by Demonic Energy, tainting their own spiritual power. The Spirit Beasts in Gloomwind Gorge had not been demonized, but they had been poisoned. Most of them were poisonous.

And the poison was not confined to any one part of their bodies. They were poisonous from head to toe. How could anyone eat meat like that? Huo Hai gave up on them and told the others what he had found, warning them to take care.

"Seriously, we still haven't found a single normal Spirit Beast. Even an ordinary wild animal would do. How are we supposed to get by like this?" Pang Xing grumbled. They had been living near Gloomwind Gorge for three whole days.

They had seen none of the gorge's dangers, but if this went on, they would start growing mold. Not one of the Demon Spirit Masters outside had left; they kept the place surrounded. The Star Gu Huo Hai had sent out had found no sign of anyone coming, either. Perhaps the reinforcements were approaching from another direction. There was no telling how much longer they would take.

Their food was almost gone, even with rationing. Huo Hai knew he could no longer keep hiding what he had.

"I still have some food, though not much." Under everyone's astonished gaze, Huo Hai swept a hand out and took all the food from his Inner Space. He was not so cold-blooded that he could watch his companions starve
