Poison Spirit Stone

Deep in Gloomwind Gorge, the poison mist was thickest. It had grown so dense that it resembled miasma. Huo Hai wanted to send the others back, but none of them agreed.

Now that they had reached the heart of the gorge, Huo Hai would not have dared let them return alone even if they had agreed. If the poison flared up on the way, they would all die without Little Gold's help. Even Huo Hai could no longer do without Little Gold. Every other day, he had to let Little Gold draw the poison from his body. That was how potent it was here.

"Be careful, everyone. There aren't any living creatures left here," Huo Hai said quietly. The others nodded. They had noticed how unnaturally silent the place had become.

Huo Hai released the Star Gu. The poison here was strong, but it was nothing to these Gu Insects. What frustrated him was that the Star Gu seemed to feel nothing unusual about it.

Little Gold might evolve by devouring the poison here, but the Star Gu showed no sign of doing the same. Huo Hai would have preferred to see the Star Gu grow stronger. They had always been his most dependable weapon.

The Star Gu flew everywhere, probing their surroundings. Huo Hai desperately wanted to find the source of the poison. Pang Xing and the others stayed close, afraid that one careless step would bring on a fatal attack. Even Pang Xing, who could usually talk without end, dared not say a word. He barely dared open his mouth, let alone take a deep breath.
