Background / History

Qian Daoliu is Qian Xunji’s father and Spirit Hall’s Grand Worshipper. As the organization’s foremost elder, he oversees its highest-ranking worshippers, protects its interests, and is treated as one of the strongest mortal soul masters of his era. Qian Xunji identifies him as the world’s only Ultimate Douluo, while later events establish him as a Peerless Douluo. 4 18

When Qian Xunji brings Su Mu to the Worship Hall, Qian Daoliu witnesses the Destruction Angel and learns that Su Mu possesses the Destruction God King’s divine inheritance. Su Mu then reveals his inheritance from the Life Goddess as well, making him the first known inheritor of two divine thrones. Qian Daoliu becomes so overwhelmed that he faints from excitement; after recovering, he declares Su Mu to be Spirit Hall’s future and orders that the dual inheritances remain secret. 8 9

He later leads Spirit Hall’s elite in several Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast hunts, enabling Dugu Bo, Yue Guan, Gui Mei, and Qian Xunji to acquire major soul rings and soul bones. His support helps expand Spirit Hall’s Titled Douluo ranks and potential Worship Hall membership. 18 20 21

During the conflict over the captured Three-Eyed Golden Lion, Qian Daoliu confronts Di Tian directly. Despite invoking the Angel God’s power, he is defeated by Di Tian’s Dragon Claw. The subsequent arrival of the Life Goddess and God of Destruction reveals that the Angel God has long since fallen, devastating Qian Daoliu and undermining the faith he had maintained as her representative. 24 27 28

Qian Daoliu continues directing Spirit Hall’s strategic affairs after the expedition. He assigns Qian Xunji to investigate the sea region and Sea God Island because of Spirit Hall’s previous losses there, and later immediately approves a request to reward Su Mu with additional Ten Thousand Year Spirit Bones. 37 43

When Tang Chen intimidates Su Mu, Qian Daoliu leads the seven worshippers, Qian Xunji, Yue Guan, Gui Mei, and Dugu Bo to the Clear Sky Sect. Their eleven-Titled-Douluo force compels Tang Chen to agree to a public apology. Qian Daoliu regards the operation as a means of suppressing Tang Chen’s arrogance and demonstrating Spirit Hall’s strength, anticipating that Su Mu’s eventual godhood will secure the organization’s long-term future. 73 74 75

During the tournament preparations, Qian Daoliu participates in efforts to retain Seven Kill Douluo Chen Jianjun and his son, Chen Xin. He defeats Chen Jianjun in a swordsmanship match, continues exchanging pointers with him, and cooperates with Qian Xunji in seeking Immortal Herbs from Su Mu as a recruitment incentive. After the father and son accept the herbs and agree to remain, Qian Daoliu plans to announce Chen Jianjun’s appointment as Eighth Worship after the tournament and arrange a soul-beast hunt for Chen Xin. 82 83 84 86 94 96

Personality

Qian Daoliu is dignified, cautious, and deeply committed to Spirit Hall’s future. He quickly recognizes Su Mu’s unprecedented value and is willing to provide resources, protection, and political support without regard for Su Mu’s lack of Qian blood. 9 21

He is also protective of those under his care. He attempts to arrange escorts for Su Mu, checks on Golden Crocodile Douluo after battle, and insists on negotiating for Su Mu’s release when Bi Ji abducts him. 22 23 25

His composure is repeatedly tested by Qian Xunji’s boastful behavior. Though he initially restrains himself, Qian Xunji’s provocations eventually drive him to summon the Angel Holy Sword and threaten to discipline his son personally. 17 28 37

He expels his son from the Worship Hall after excessive bragging, complains to Golden Crocodile Douluo about his behavior, and eventually fights him when an argument over Su Mu’s legacy escalates into an armed confrontation. Qian Daoliu receives Qian Xunji, Su Mu, and Bibi Dong at the Worship Hall after Su Mu awakens the Destruction Angel. Su Mu’s revelation of dual divine inheritances overwhelms him, but he recovers to place Spirit Hall’s resources behind Su Mu and enforce secrecy around the matter. 8 9

Spirit Hall’s Hundred-Thousand-Year Hunts

He organizes and leads hunts for the ninth soul rings of Dugu Bo, Yue Guan, Gui Mei, and Qian Xunji. These expeditions produce several new Titled Douluo and greatly strengthen Spirit Hall’s upper ranks. 18 20 21

Star Dou Great Forest Conflict

After Bibi Dong captures the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, Qian Daoliu refuses Di Tian’s demand for her release. He battles Di Tian directly, is defeated despite using Angel God power, and later insists on Su Mu’s safe return before accepting any exchange. 22 24 25

Revelation of the Angel God’s Fall

Following the God of Destruction’s intervention, Qian Daoliu learns that the Angel God fell long ago. He accepts the news only with difficulty and asks the God of Destruction to investigate the cause. 27 28

Wager with Qian Xunji

Qian Daoliu criticizes Qian Xunji for believing he will surpass the divine ancestors. He wagers that, if Qian Xunji accomplishes this feat, he will address his own son as “Father,” though he privately worries that he may regret the statement. 37

A later wager concerns whether Su Mu can perform a Self Martial Soul Fusion Skill before the Soul Master Tournament ends. Qian Xunji asks Su Mu to help him win, and Su Mu succeeds within less than half a month of the wager. Qian Daoliu is awestruck by the thirty-meter Twelve-Winged Angel, nearly kneeling in worship before remembering the implications for his bet. 72 76

Qian Xunji calls on the assembled worshippers and younger soul masters to witness his victory. Qian Daoliu insists that he will not renege, then publicly acknowledges his son’s exceptional talent and potential to surpass the Divine Ancestor. This settles the fusion-skill wager without establishing that Qian Xunji has actually surpassed the divine ancestors. 76 77

Strategic Assignments and Support for Su Mu’s Team

Before Qian Xunji departs to confront the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Qian Daoliu assigns him the additional task of investigating the sea region, particularly Sea God Island. He cites Spirit Hall’s previous heavy losses and the need to prepare future plans, while warning his son to curb his growing arrogance. 37

He later immediately approves Qian Xunji’s request for additional Spirit Bones to reward Su Mu. Su Mu selects four Ten Thousand Year Spirit Bones from the treasury and distributes them, together with the bone obtained from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, among five teammates. 43

When Su Mu’s group departs on its next soul-ring expedition, Qian Daoliu remains behind. He and Golden Crocodile Douluo discuss Su Mu’s rapid progress and potential future leadership, with Golden Crocodile identifying him as the best candidate to succeed as Pope if he is willing. Qian Daoliu subsequently summons Qian Xunji to handle organizational matters while Yue Guan and Gui Mei accompany Su Mu on another hunt. 46 63

Confrontation with the Clear Sky Sect

After Qian Xunji reports Tang Chen’s intimidation of Su Mu, Qian Daoliu angrily resolves to make Tang Chen experience the same pressure he imposed on someone weaker. He leads the other six worshippers out of the Worship Hall, followed by Qian Xunji and the Pope’s three principal subordinates. 72 73

At the Clear Sky Sect, the eleven Titled Douluo exert overwhelming pressure on Tang Chen and his disciples. Qian Daoliu rejects the suggestion that Spirit Hall should fear making an enemy of the sect, pointing to its vastly inferior number of Titled Douluo. He and Qian Xunji demand an apology on behalf of Tang Chen and the sect, threatening the Clear Sky line if he refuses. 74

Tang Hao’s defiance results in Qian Xunji slapping him and knocking out two more teeth. Tang Chen agrees to issue a public apology to protect his grandson and sect, after which Qian Daoliu withdraws the pressure and criticizes Tang Chen’s indecision and Tang Hao’s arrogance. He subsequently allows Qian Xunji to continue taunting Tang Chen before Spirit Hall’s party departs. 74 75

Swordsmanship Duel with Chen Jianjun

Qian Xunji asks Qian Daoliu to spar with Chen Jianjun as part of an effort to keep the Seven Kill Sword father and son at Spirit Hall. Though initially reluctant, Qian Daoliu agrees to meet him the following day, combining the attraction of swordsmanship exchanges with continued generous hospitality. 82

At the training ground, Qian Daoliu condenses a golden sword of light and counters Chen Jianjun’s Seven Kill Sword Technique with the Angel Sword Technique. His precision, sacred sword pressure, and superior comprehension repeatedly force Chen Jianjun backward. 83

The match ends when Qian Daoliu overwhelms Seven Kills Unite and stops his sword near Chen Jianjun’s throat. Qian Daoliu praises his opponent’s technique, while Chen Jianjun recognizes that the difference between his Level 97 cultivation and Qian Daoliu’s Level 99 is effectively an uncrossable chasm. Su Mu heals Chen Jianjun afterward, and the defeat encourages him to consider remaining in Spirit Hall for further guidance. 84

Tournament Wager with Tang Chen

Tang Chen challenges Qian Daoliu to wager on whether the Clear Sky Sect or Spirit Hall will win the tournament final. If the Clear Sky Sect wins, Su Mu must publicly apologize to Tang Hao, admit Spirit Hall’s inferiority, and kowtow; if Spirit Hall wins, Tang Hao must undergo the corresponding humiliation. 88

Qian Daoliu accepts and warns Tang Chen not to go back on his word. After Tang Chen and Tang Hao leave, he and Golden Crocodile Douluo conclude that their opponents have badly misjudged the situation. Qian Daoliu sees the wager as an attempt to use Su Mu as a stepping stone for Tang Hao, while lamenting that his old friendship with Tang Chen has deteriorated into opposition between their factions. 88

Sword Clash with Qian Xunji

While discussing the recruitment of Chen Jianjun and Chen Xin, Qian Daoliu objects to Qian Xunji’s claim that he and Su Mu will be remembered together in the Pope’s Palace’s records. Qian Daoliu argues that Su Mu’s dual godhood and eventual ascension will ensure an enduring legacy far beyond those records. Qian Xunji responds by asserting his authority as Pope and rejecting his father’s interference. 94

The argument escalates when both summon the Angel Holy Sword and Qian Xunji attacks first. Qian Daoliu rapidly gains the upper hand, but Golden Crocodile, Azure Luan, and Light Feather Douluo restrain him before the confrontation can worsen. Su Mu mediates, rebukes Qian Xunji for drawing a sword against his father, and redirects the group to Chen Jianjun’s residence. Qian Daoliu remains angry but does not resume the fight. 95

Recruitment of the Seven Kill Sword Lineage

Qian Daoliu and Qian Xunji agree to ask Su Mu for two Immortal Herbs to persuade Chen Jianjun and Chen Xin to remain permanently. Chen Jianjun initially refuses formal recruitment, but Qian Xunji’s offer of a path to Level 98 for him and Titled Douluo cultivation for Chen Xin changes his decision. 94 95 96

Su Mu supplies the sky-splitting sword lotus for Chen Jianjun and the azure edge sword tassel grass for Chen Xin. Once the two begin absorbing the herbs, Qian Daoliu decides to announce Chen Jianjun as Eighth Worship after the Soul Master Tournament. He expects Chen Jianjun to accept because the position can function as a nominal post, and also plans a later trip to the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain a soul ring for Chen Xin.
