Background

Yu Xiaogang was born as the son of Yu Yuanzhen, leader of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. His awakening produced only 0.5-level innate Soul Power and the mutated Detached Martial Soul Luo Sanpao rather than the clan’s prestigious Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. Yu Yuanzhen nonetheless poured resources into raising him to Soul Master, but lost hope after seeing Luo Sanpao’s first ability. 36

Despite his limited cultivation, Xiaogang retained the position of young clan master and expected the clan’s status to protect him. Yu Yuanzhen later ordered him to cultivate to level 20 for the Soul Master Tournament, where he was expected to lead the clan team as captain. 36

Appearance

Yu Xiaogang is a thin youth with a face that still retains some childishness. After his confrontation with Su Mu’s group, he returned to his clan in torn clothing, covered in blood, and visibly beaten. 29 36

Personality

Yu Xiaogang is arrogant, impulsive, and heavily dependent on his position as the clan leader’s son. He introduces himself through his title, threatens others with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, and assumes stronger clan members will carry out his orders. 29 31

His pride persists even after defeat. While restrained by Ah Yin and outmatched by Su Mu’s group, he continued invoking his father and threatening revenge. He later refused to apologize to Yu Yuanzhen or accept responsibility for provoking Su Mu, even after the incident endangered his clan. 31 41 42

Beneath his defiance, Xiaogang is deeply insecure about his weak Soul Power and unusual Martial Soul. He resents being treated as inferior and resolves to make those who dismiss him regret it. 36

Inn Incident

Yu Xiaogang attempted to force Su Mu and Bibi Dong out of an inn by invoking his status as young clan master. Bibi Dong publicly mocked his 0.5-level innate Soul Power and his claim that he would lead the tournament champions. 29

He ordered the Soul King Yu Fei and four other companions to attack. Ah Yin intervened, kicked Xiaogang across the room, and branded him “trash.” After Bibi Dong defeated Yu Fei and Ah Yin bound the remaining attackers, Xiaogang tried to flee. 29 30

Cornered, Xiaogang summoned Luo Sanpao and used its gas attack, but Su Mu neutralized it. Xiaogang continued threatening the group with his father’s name until Ah Yin suspended and whipped him with Blue Silver Emperor vines. 31

Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan Repercussions

After returning to the clan, Xiaogang demanded that Yu Yuanzhen avenge him. Yu Fei’s report that Xiaogang had provoked Su Mu and Bibi Dong instead caused Yu Yuanzhen to panic over possible retaliation from Spirit Hall. 36

Yu Yuanzhen reprimanded Xiaogang, threatened to remove him as young clan master, and ordered him to focus on reaching level 20 before the tournament. Privately, Yu Yuanzhen considered replacing him on the team with Yu Luomian’s more talented illegitimate daughter. 36

Spirit Hall’s Demand for Compensation

Qian Xunji arrived at the clan with Yue Guan, Gui Mei, and Dugu Bo. Yu Yuanzhen had Xiaogang summoned to the sealed main hall without telling him that the Pope was present. 41

Xiaogang refused to bow to Qian Xunji or admit wrongdoing. To protect the clan, Yu Yuanzhen slapped him repeatedly, but Xiaogang remained defiant and accused his father of losing a clan leader’s dignity. 41 42

Qian Xunji ultimately used the incident to demand a ten-thousand-year Spirit Bone from the clan treasury. Xiaogang’s refusal to accept responsibility contributed to the humiliation and loss suffered by his clan. 42
