Background

Guga first appeared when Qin Qi dropped a Cookie during his Martial Soul Awakening. Drawn to it immediately, she snatched and ate it before accepting another Cookie from him. Neither knew why she had appeared, though Qin Qi suspected his Cookie Martial Soul had summoned her. 1 2

After Qin Qi took her in, Guga became his constant companion in Penguin Village. She initially claimed to possess no special abilities beyond having many friends, but soon proved able to disappear, travel between worlds, and call specialized Gugas to help with Qin Qi’s problems. 2 3 4

Guga identifies herself as the ancestor of all Gugas. Flower Gardener Guga addresses her as an ancestor, while Sea God Guguga later seeks her help as a senior family member. 3 33

Her ancestral role includes raising newborn Gugas until they mature. Sword Immortal Guga’s childhood memories show that she was raised by the Patriarch, and Guga later brings the newborn Little Gray Guga into Qin Qi’s household for care. Grown Gugas traditionally leave to find their own place among the many worlds. 77 96

Qin Qi explicitly describes Guga and Doro as neither Soul Beasts nor Soul Masters. Their unusual nature does not fit the categories familiar to the Snow Empress, and they do not understand the Heavenly Tribulations faced by powerful Soul Beasts. 8

Appearance

Guga is a small black-and-white, penguin-like girl with large expressive eyes, little wings, and a round body. She is commonly described as wearing or resembling a penguin suit. 1 12

Personality

Guga is affectionate, food-motivated, and highly attached to Qin Qi. She considers him family, eagerly accepts his Cookies, and repeatedly seeks help from other Gugas on his behalf. 1 3 32

Despite her carefree and sometimes careless behavior, Guga is compassionate. She was horrified by the idea of killing the captured Ice Empress and refused Qin Qi’s suggestion that they lie to Klee about losing Dodoco. 6 12

Her impulsiveness caused the Dodoco incident: while disposing of Klee’s explosives, she threw away Klee’s backpack without checking it. Once Qin Qi explained Dodoco’s sentimental value, Guga became remorseful and immediately committed herself to recovering it. 11 12

Guga does not hold grudges. When she later visits the Ice Empress, she enthusiastically greets her and remains willing to become friends despite having previously been frozen by her. 73

Her protectiveness can become possessive: she and Doro immediately object when Sea God Guguga tries to appoint Qin Qi as her First Priest, insisting that he already belongs with them. She also takes responsibility for younger Gugas, warning Bo Saixi not to let Sea God Guguga be manipulated and caring for newborns until they grow up. 40 49 77

Her kindness extends to strangers. Guga and Doro insist on helping the badly injured Bibi Dong rather than continuing their journey, and Guga subsequently assists with the little ones’ efforts to make her accept treatment. 88 89

Guga stores items in a spatial pocket located on her belly.

Chakra Refinement and Cultivation Link

Guga learns chakra refinement almost immediately from Whirlpool Guga’s brief demonstration, succeeding where Qin Qi cannot follow the Guga-language instructions. Qin Qi notices that his own Soul Power appears to increase while Guga cultivates, leading him to abandon his attempts at personally learning the technique. 4

During Qin Qi’s first Soul Master breakthrough, Guga glows and floats into the air, and the Cookies in her pocket gather behind him into the enormous Cookie associated with his first Soul Ring. The event demonstrates a connection between Guga and his unconventional progression, although she is surprised by her Cookies flying away. 7

Resilience

Guga demonstrated unusual durability when confronting the Ice Empress.

She also demonstrates useful observational skills during the Dodoco search, identifying enormous footprints at the valley entrance and drawing Qin Qi’s attention to the clue that leads them to the Titan Snow Demons. 13

Arrival and Settlement in Penguin Village

Guga appeared during Qin Qi’s Martial Soul Awakening after being drawn to his dropped Cookie. Qin Qi quickly accepted her as his companion, and Guga helped him address the practical problem of farming in the Far North by bringing Flower Gardener Guga to transform his frozen courtyard. 1 2 3

Far North Encounters

After Qin Qi asked to become stronger, Guga brought Whirlpool Guga to teach him. During an outing, Guga was attacked by Ice Jade Scorpions and became involved in the conflict with the Ice Empress. The group captured the Ice Empress but pleaded with Qin Qi not to kill her. 4 5 6

Guga learned chakra refinement during Whirlpool Guga’s visit, and Qin Qi discovered that her cultivation appeared to increase his Soul Power. When he later advanced after eating an Orange, the Cookies in Guga’s pocket gathered into the enormous Cookie associated with his first Soul Ring. 4 7

The Snow Empress subsequently questioned whether Guga and the other little ones could help her survive Heavenly Tribulation. Qin Qi explained that they were neither Soul Beasts nor Soul Masters, but Guga did not understand the tribulation itself and could not provide advice. 8

Dodoco Recovery

While following Qin Qi’s instructions to dispose of Klee’s bombs, Guga accidentally discarded Klee’s backpack and Dodoco. She refused to deceive Klee, took responsibility for the mistake, and traveled with Qin Qi through the Far North to find the doll. 11 12 13

After their search of the valley failed, Guga noticed enormous footprints that Qin Qi identified as belonging to Titan Snow Demons. With Doro and the Snow Empress’s help, they found the Titan Snow Demon King and recovered the backpack with Dodoco inside. Guga and Doro then transported the group away when Qin Qi’s bomb demonstration caused an avalanche. 13

Household Construction and Interworld Delivery

Guga recruited I-Beam Guga’s construction team to rebuild Qin Qi’s destroyed house. She later introduced the household to Myriad Worlds Express by ordering supplies, a refrigerator for herself to sleep in, and other goods through her phone. 9 14 15

Sea God Guguga Rescue and Sea God Island

When Sea God Guguga lost her trident and went missing, Guga encouraged Qin Qi to search for her. She accompanied the expedition to Sea God Island, defended Qin Qi from Sea God Guguga’s attempt to claim him as a High Priest, and helped pull the Golden Trident away from the Sea God’s phantom. 33 35 40 44

During their journey, the group could not travel directly to the unfamiliar island because they lacked a spatial anchor. Sword Immortal Guga, a separate Guga accompanying the expedition, provided flying-sword transportation. Guga and Doro later played in the ocean and fled across its surface when Xiao Bai approached, before Sea God Guguga reunited with them. 37 39

After the group retrieved the Golden Trident, they discovered that Sea God Guguga’s original trident had been in her belly pouch all along. Guga reprimanded her for the unnecessary trouble. She subsequently participated in the negotiations that established Guguga as the island’s new protector and retained Bo Saixi as High Priest. 44 46

After Sea God Guguga became the sea’s new protector, Guga advised her by phone on establishing safer, benevolent Sea God Trials focused on suppressing pirates, protecting marine life, and preventing pollution. 45 46 49

Return to the Far North and the Ocean Dispute

After returning to Douluo Continent, Guga, Doro, and Phoebe Jubi reaffirmed their affection for Qin Qi. Guga enjoyed sweet-and-sour snacks from Belobog and joined another group dance with the Snow Empress using the musical snowman. 71 72

During the subsequent visit to the Ice Empress, Guga greeted her warmly despite their earlier conflict. Sea God Guguga then called Guga’s phone for help, and Qin Qi answered. Guga traveled with Qin Qi, Doro, and Phoebe Jubi to Sea God Island, where the Demon Soul Great White Sharks and Evil Spirit Orcas were in conflict. 73 74

Qin Qi remained on the island for another week while Bo Saixi prepared to travel and broaden her understanding. Guga returned with his group to Penguin Village after they saw Bo Saixi off. 76

Raising Little Gray Guga

Back in Penguin Village, Guga left briefly and returned with the newborn Little Gray Guga. She explained that caring for newborn Gugas until they mature is her responsibility, bringing the child into Qin Qi’s welcoming household. 77

During the household’s later journey, Guga and Doro insisted on rescuing the injured Bibi Dong. Guga carried her into the carriage, where Little Guda began carefully tending to her. After Bibi Dong woke, Guga helped restrain her so Doro could offer an Orange and Little Guda could continue her attempted treatment of the older woman’s inner distress. 88 89

When Little Guda matured into Doctor Guga, the Patriarch celebrated by giving her a Cookie. Because grown Gugas traditionally leave to find their own place among the worlds, Guga introduced Adventurer Guga to guide the new doctor into unfamiliar destinations. Doctor Guga departed with the adventurer, whose exploration ability could reach worlds beyond the Patriarch’s known destinations and coordinates. 96
