After noting the direction, Werther hung up the Den Den Mushi. He took out a small compass, then his Log Pose.
Using the Log Pose's bearing, he began working out the exact location of the Island called Bacaster.
Ferdinand had told him the Island could not be reached with a Log Pose. Somehow, the Navy had made it impossible for one to lock onto the Island.
To find Bacaster, he would have to use several nearby islands to establish its position.
That was why the Navy had built a secret base there. If a Log Pose could lock onto the island, Pirates landing there all the time would give the Navy no end of trouble.
Ordinary Pirates would be manageable. But if they ran into an Adventurer like Werther, it would be a disaster.
And now Werther, that very "disaster," was hard at work locating Bacaster. Would the Marines on the Island weep tears of joy if they knew?
So Werther began searching the sea for the secret base.
Truth be told, it was difficult. He got his heading wrong five times. But after a month and a half of effort, the Island finally appeared before him: Bacaster, an Island no Log Pose would ever point to, one that could only be found by its coordinates.
Bacaster was more beautiful than he had imagined. Green forest covered the Island, grass carpeted the ground, and a lovely wildflower appeared here and there. The air smelled sweet and fresh, and the forest brimmed with life. It was a fine Island. No wonder the Navy had chosen it for a secret laboratory.
Werther and Tuski moored the ship, then went ashore to make trouble for the Navy. Werther had specifically told Tuski to put the fighting techniques he had taught it and its
