Background

Kahn was a senior disciple of Sword Intent Hall who had followed Yadu Nisse for five years. Although regarded as the hall’s chief disciple, he had not earned Nisse’s trust and primarily served as a doorman, errand boy, and thug. He understood that his master was powerful and dangerous, especially after a senior disciple who offended Nisse disappeared along with his family. 4 5

When nine-year-old Werther visited Sword Intent Hall, Kahn warmly greeted him, showed him around, introduced him to Nisse, and handled his registration. Afterward, Nisse ordered Kahn to investigate Werther’s claimed employment at Red’s shop and verify his background. 3

The next day, Werther sought Kahn out on the back mountain and proposed selling information about Sky Island. Though skeptical at first, Kahn agreed to serve as Werther’s bodyguard for half the proceeds and brought him to Loguetown’s black market in disguise. 4

After the information sale earned 600,000 Beli, Kahn considered murdering Werther and keeping the entire payment. He abandoned the idea after learning Nisse knew about the transaction. Werther maneuvered him into accepting 200,000 Beli while another 200,000 went to Nisse. Nisse later suggested that Kahn be sent to visit his family, apparently removing or punishing him for his private dealings. 5
