When Li Ziran thought Sandrew was about to take him on as a disciple, the old man suddenly fell silent again, staring at him strangely as he grinned.
That sinister smile sent chills racing down his spine, as though his newly purified body had acquired some inexplicable allure.
"Master, you just said..."
"Oh, it's nothing. Go back. And come here every afternoon for the next few days. Don't spend all day fooling around with those frogs when you have nothing to do." His tone was remarkably like Li Ziran's father's, carrying an inexplicable trace of warmth.
After leaving the Mage Tower, Li Ziran still found the whole thing bizarre. The old man's temperament seemed to have changed completely.
He had definitely wanted to say something just now.
Still, the purification really was excellent. More impurities had been expelled than from Li Ziran himself.
"That Demon... definitely isn't simple."
Li Ziran was certain of it. At the very least, its aptitude far surpassed his own.
He reported to Sandrew punctually that afternoon. After the Embryo's purification, the Undead Archmage seemed to have begun taking special care of him.
He patiently guided him through the finer details of Corpse Witch control and even asked whether he wanted to study other Undead, as though he intended to look upon him in a new light and accept him as a disciple.
Unfortunately, although Li Ziran repeatedly hinted that he wanted a master, the old man refused him both openly and indirectly.
After several fruitless attempts, Li Ziran gave up. Thinking about it, Sandrew's favorite student was about to be born. Once that happened, Li Ziran would already be fortunate if Sandrew spared him a word.
Yet every afternoon, Sandrew waited for him. In the blink of an eye, more than two months had passed.
