Background / History

The Primordial Era was an age in which humanity was weakened and oppressed by foreign races. Tan Lin’s third life took place during this period: born with the Human King Battle Body, he cultivated both the Lunar and Solar Scriptures and used a Yin-Yang Divine Millstone to temper his physique. 1

Tan Lin’s earlier two lives also shaped the cultivation legacy associated with the era. In his first life, he cultivated the Lunar Scripture but failed to attain sainthood; in his second, he cultivated the Solar Scripture and rose to great heights without reaching the Quasi-Emperor realm. His third life united the gains of both paths and transformed him from an individual cultivator into a leader of the Human Race. 1

At age 2,100, Tan Lin crossed into the Quasi-Emperor realm and founded the Human Emperor Hall in the Big Dipper’s Central Region. Under his leadership, humanity fought the myriad races and recovered much of its standing. By age 3,000, he had reached the peak of the Quasi-Emperor realm; at age 3,600, after fully charging the All-Causes Soul Pearl through his vast karmic ties, he began his attempt at Dao attainment. 1

During this life, Tan Lin captured Tian Ling, an Ancient Emperor’s daughter, after conflict with her people. His subordinates placed her in his bedchamber, and their relationship became a profound emotional and karmic bond that distracted him from cultivation. Though he eventually released her and the Quasi-Emperor who sought her return, Tian Ling remained tied to his concealed sites and legacy. 1 31

The Human Emperor’s fall was one of the era’s defining catastrophes, but not its immediate end. He passed the Dao-Proving Tribulation, yet was attacked before completing the Ultimate Leap and Heavenly Heart Unification. Heavenly Venerable Xiaoyao first attempted to seize his body, while the Undying Heavenly Emperor then ambushed him with the Undying Heavenly Blade and pierced his Origin. His body, Dao Fruit, blood essence, Origin, Primordial Spirit fragments, and portions of his true soul were divided among his enemies, while only a remnant of his true soul escaped through the All-Causes Soul Pearl. 1 2

Not long after his fall, a Dark Turmoil erupted as Restricted-Area Supremes awakened and devoured living beings. The Primordial Era continued for hundreds of thousands of years afterward, but its records were repeatedly destroyed or fragmented by warfare and upheaval. Its final ages remained unstable even for Primordial Emperor Clans: the Fighting Saint Emperor’s death and the subsequent chaos left major inheritances such as the Heavenly Mystic Ancient Clan and Divine Silkworm Ridge vulnerable to attack. 1 55 172 183

Cultivation and Warfare

The era’s most famous cultivation ideal was the harmonious fusion of Lunar and Solar power. Perfecting both Immortal Scriptures was believed capable of transforming a cultivator into a Chaos Body; the Human Emperor used a shortcut that allowed the two forces to coexist, but did not achieve true balance. 1 45

• The Yin-Yang Mill Scripture was Tan Lin’s foundational method for cultivating Lunar and Solar power together. Its complete form was never widely transmitted because it remained imperfect, and later generations believed that even Human Emperor Hall did not possess his complete inheritance. 19 45 105
• The Human Emperor’s forces trained soldiers across multiple realms rather than relying only on elite cultivators. Dragon Transformation cultivators were treated as essential battlefield formations and prospective junior generals. 27
• The highest proving ground of the Human Emperor’s Drill Tower was originally where he attempted to deduce true yin-yang harmony; after failing, he converted it into a trial site for his strongest generals. 36
• The Drill Tower’s final proving ground preserved a chaotic void environment filled with Primordial Era battle souls, law creatures, and Bronze Puppets. Its strongest enforcers possessed Saint King Peak or near-Great Saint combat strength, reflecting the formidable standard expected of the Human Emperor’s foremost generals. 36
• The Human Emperor Banner developed a distinct Soul Dao legacy by gathering and refining heroic spirits and Primordial Spirits. After being inhabited by Tan Lin’s remnant soul fragment, it gradually sublimated into an exceptionally powerful Soul Dao artifact. 16 183

• Human Emperor / Tan Lin / Suiren — Human King Body cultivator, founder of Human Emperor Hall, and the era’s foremost practitioner of both Lunar and Solar power. He led humanity’s resurgence on the Big Dipper and the Ancient Road, but fell after passing the Dao-Proving Tribulation without completing Heavenly Heart Unification. • The Primordial Era’s surviving restrictions were so formidable that numerous cultivators and major factions required seven days and nights to break into the Human Emperor’s old site. 16
