Background

Dark Supremes were once Dao attainters who ruled their respective eras with invincible conviction. Many had formerly protected living beings, but fear of death and failure to find immortality led them to sever themselves, enter forbidden zones, and ultimately become the source of Dark Turmoils 16 18.

Their forbidden zones preserve them through Immortal Source, longevity substances, Dragon Veins, divine springs, Immortal Dao runes, and other ancient resources. These sanctuaries allow them to sleep through the ages while awaiting the Road to Immortality 5 6 20 42.

They are not a unified organization. Dark Supremes compete over lifespan-extending treasures, regard one another as rivals, and may attack each other over valuable prey or resources 2 32.

Appearance

Dark Supremes have no single appearance; many retain traits of the races or forms they possessed before becoming Dao attainters.

• Some appear humanoid, while others retain dragon horns, scales, feathers, fur, or other nonhuman features 6.
• Known forms include the fur-covered Supremes, the Red-Haired Supreme, the Gold-Devouring Insect, the dough-like Supreme, and the serpent- and dragon-shaped Supremes 7 8 33.
• When awakened or fighting, their auras can shake starfields, disturb the Great Dao, and cause lesser cultivators to feel like “ants” before them 12 42.

Collective Behavior

Dark Supremes are driven chiefly by survival. They seek Immortal Medicines, Chaotic Body origins, Sacred Spirit methods, longevity substances, and other means of repairing their Immortal Platforms or gaining another lifetime 7 32 42 46.

Their former pride remains intact despite their decline. Most believe that, because they once swept aside all opposition and attained the Dao, they can eventually master any longevity method they pursue 46. However, this pride is usually tempered by caution when confronting an opponent capable of permanently killing them 20.

Dao-Attainer Foundation

Every Dark Supreme was once a genuine Dao attainer. Their original cultivation grants them Imperial Dao laws, immense vitality, combat experience, and the ability to wield or revive Extreme Dao Weapons 6 17.

A Dark Supreme can undergo Extreme Sublimation to recover a peak combat state and fully revive their weapon and Dao.

Dark Supremes sustain themselves through self-severance, sealed slumber, and the resources of forbidden zones.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Hunt for Li Ming

When Li Ming attained the Dao, Dark Supremes emerged to seize what they believed was a naturally born Chaotic Body. Their avatars were destroyed, and Carefree Heavenly Venerable’s death established Li Ming as a threat beyond ordinary Dao attainters 2.

Fall of the Reincarnation Sea

Four Dark Supremes of the Reincarnation Sea fought Li Ming after he demanded control of their forbidden zone. All four were ultimately killed, and Li Ming claimed the Reincarnation Sea as his territory 3 4.

Divine Ruins Conflict

The Divine Ruins’ rulers first negotiated with Li Ming rather than risk open war. Later, Dark Supremes associated with the zone joined an ambush against him, while the remaining residents were forced to compensate him with Immortal Source, Flat Peaches, Immortal Gold, and access to their former lord’s retreat 6 8 13.

Suppression of the Forbidden Zones

Li Ming killed Longevity Heavenly Venerable, extorted the Immortal Mausoleum and Heaven Forbidden Zone, and destroyed several other restricted areas. The surviving Dark Supremes publicly submitted or remained silent while privately planning to wait for his eventual decline 19 20.

Longevity Transformation Era

Boundless Heavenly Venerable and Emperor Zun demonstrated that Sacred Spirit transformation could grant another lifetime. This discovery gave the Dark Supremes renewed hope of escaping their dependence on sealed slumber and Dark Turmoils 42 46.
