Batman Has His Ways

The scene fell deathly silent.

By then, the Heat Vision had vanished. Kara had barely managed to control it, but because she had failed to restrain her energy, her eyes felt scorched, with wisps of heat still rising from them.

Harley Quinn greedily gulped down air, while Poison Ivy was completely stunned and instinctively moved farther away from Kara.

If Kara's beam had struck her plants...

They would have been burned to nothing in an instant!

Even the two women familiar with Kara reacted like this, let alone Black Mask's underlings.

They were scared out of their wits and immediately fled.

Some were so frightened that they wet themselves on the spot.

Was this even human?

Having recovered, Harley Quinn looked at Kara standing blankly in place and immediately shoved Black Mask away from in front of her.

Black Mask had already turned into charred coal. At the slightest touch, he crumbled into ash.

He had been dried out by the intense solar energy.

A Kryptonian's Heat Vision absorbed the sun's energy, and its temperature could be even higher than the sun's core.

Kara had only just displayed this ability, but because she had not controlled it, the temperature was incredibly intense.

Even the buildings before her had been split in half by Kara's Heat Vision, let alone a person.

Harley Quinn was not afraid of Kara at all and ran straight up to her.

"Kara, are you okay?"

She pulled Kara into her arms. With her unusual way of thinking, she was instead excited. "What was that just now? Can you do it again?"

To Harley Quinn, Kara had become like this to save her.

She was practically a treasure!

With an ability like that, who would dare bully her in the future? She could just glare them to death.

However, Kara did not answer. She had already fallen into extreme fear.

Last time, she had merely shown a little strength and her classmates had treated her like a monster.

This time, she had shown even more!

She finally understood why her godfather would not let her casually display her strength.

This was not something she could deal with at her age.

But fortunately, there were two adults present.

Harley Quinn immediately knew that Kara was drowning in self-blame and hurriedly comforted her. "Kara, listen, this isn't your fault, okay?"

"He was trying to hurt you. You were only fighting back!"

"You don't need to blame yourself. It was self-defense!"

As she spoke, Harley Quinn frantically winked at Poison Ivy.

Poison Ivy was now terrified of Kara, afraid that Kara would glare her to death too.

But she still took a deep breath and came over. "That's right, Kara. You did the right thing. What we need to do now is leave quickly, or someone will be here soon."

"Right, we need to go now!"

Harley immediately took Kara's hand.

Kara understood that as well, so she finally nodded and followed the two women away.

Her face was expressionless as she forced herself to stay composed.

Harley Quinn said nothing more, instead whispering to Poison Ivy, "Ivy, did you see that? As long as Kara stays with us, who in Gotham would dare bully us?"

"Have you lost your mind? She's still a child, and she clearly can't control her abilities."

"I don't care. She's a Metahuman. I've never seen power greater than hers. Even all of Gotham together wouldn't be her match."

On the rooftop, Batman watched the three women leave.

He had only just arrived. At first, he had not believed Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy could pull off something like this, until he saw Kara.

"Master Bruce, are you saying that alien girl did this?"

"It appears so."

Batman spoke.

He came down to the ground and used high-tech equipment to reconstruct the scene.

This technology was incredibly advanced. It could not only identify the people involved, but also recreate every movement.

"Black Mask grabbed Harley Quinn at the time and seemed to be trying to strangle her. Then Kara erupted."

"Her eyes unleashed a powerful burst of energy."

"Why her eyes?"

Alfred asked in confusion.

"Because her eyes were still somewhat red just now, and they were giving off heat."

Batman deduced, "That means her body is far stronger than an ordinary person's, stronger than anyone we've ever seen. Only then could she withstand such intense energy without her eyes being affected."

"If everyone on her home planet is as powerful as she is..."

"Then the entire universe would be their colony."

Alfred finished the thought.

"Earth is fine for now, and she's the only one here. There's no need to worry over nothing, Master Bruce."

Batman did not dwell on the matter. "I suspect this isn't the full extent of her abilities. What other powers does she have?"

At that moment, Batman recalled his conversation with Li Ang on the rooftop.

She will become their god.

Before, he had not understood. He had only thought Kara was a little stronger than ordinary people.

But now... he understood somewhat.

Still, did humanity need a god standing above them?

"Master Bruce, the police will arrive soon."

"I know. I'll make them all keep their mouths shut."

Batman looked around. Many of Black Mask's scattered underlings had fled, but their tracks were obvious to him.

He immediately followed the traces to find Black Mask's men for a little "talk."

That talk included telling them not to spread word of what had happened.

They had seen nothing and knew nothing.

As for how he would accomplish that?

Batman had his ways.

Shortly after Batman left, the Gotham Police Department finally arrived.

Commissioner Gordon looked at the scene and immediately felt numb.

He had never seen anything like this.

Some unknown force had split the buildings ahead in half, and there was more than one.

If it had not finally turned upward toward the sky, would all of Gotham have been cut in half?

Judging by that, whoever had done it had at least held back their power.

"What happened here?"

He immediately asked his officers.

But the officers all shook their heads.

"There's no surveillance nearby. Only another street has cameras, and they picked up Black Mask's people."

"Find them!"

Commissioner Gordon immediately gave the order.

Just then, he saw many civilians gathering.

America had plenty of onlookers who wanted to know what had happened as soon as possible.

There were reporters as well.

With no other choice, he could only deal with the reporters' questions.

Then, he spotted Li Ang among the crowd.

Commissioner Gordon's heart stirred.

"Could this have something to do with him?"

At that moment, one of his officers came over. "Commissioner, we've found Black Mask's underlings."

"Where are they?"

"They're unconscious, and..."

"And what?"

"They seem to have mental problems. I suspect they inhaled Scarecrow's Fear Toxin. They're all ordinary people, so I'm afraid it will be difficult for them to regain consciousness."
