After Carter left, Eldin turned to Evan and asked with a slight curl of her lips.
"I didn't expect us to get a chance to work together so soon."
Evan grinned. "Should I be weeping with gratitude and honor right now, or drop to one knee and propose to you?"
Eldin blinked. "Uh..."
Both options were so extreme that Eldin, who had little experience with romance or banter, froze. She had no idea how to answer.
Her wicked queenly air gave way to a touch of adorable bewilderment.
Evan laughed to himself. Little girl, you thought you could tease me?
