Armitage was already a renowned Miskatonic University investigator before meeting Evan Arkham. He had previously fought the being connected to Evan’s Immortal Witch ancestor and had driven away Outer Gods, establishing his reputation as an experienced defender against major supernatural threats 97.

Hill brought Evan to Armitage’s New Haven office after Evan became a Demon Hunter and killed an Apprentice-level Bloodthirsty Species. Armitage recognized Evan’s unusual potion tolerance, recruited him as an official investigator, arranged his police-detective registration, and supplied four entry potions for the Demon Hunter branch 73.
