Arc 1The Inspector’s East Blue Campaign

Ener built a crew and used his new authority to hunt pirates, recruit allies, and expose corruption across the East Blue. After confronting Morgan at Shells Town, Ener watched CP9 take Morgan away as an armed ship linked to Mihawk approached.

  • Ener recovered his memories, took Ice Demon from Lice, and awakened systems that granted him new abilities and set him on a path to promotion.
  • Ener joined Smoker’s campaign against the Krieg Pirates, defeated Gin and Pearl, and forced the pirates to release their hostages, earning Smoker’s praise despite his brutal methods.
  • Ener became a Captain and East Blue Inspector, recruited Gin, and gave Lina the White Tiger Devil Fruit, then led his crew aboard the Saber.
  • At Black Thorn Island, Ener and his crew defeated pirate captains alongside Zoro, whom Ener recruited by offering him training and a chance to face Mihawk.
  • Ener received promotion to Major and East Blue Chief Inspector General, then exposed Kuro at Kaya’s manor and defeated him before recruiting Merry to run a trading business.
  • Ener placed Daniel in charge of establishing an Inspector base and sailed to Shells Town with Kaya, Kuro, Zoro, and Gin to confront Morgan.
  • Morgan tried to bribe Ener and then attacked him, but Gin defeated him, and CP9’s Nero took Morgan away after offering him membership, and Zoro renewed his vow to become the world’s greatest swordsman as an armed ship approached.
Chapters 1–25 Vol. 1 Read

Ch. 1You Don't Want Something to Happen to Your Son Either!

Ener realized he had taken over the body of a corrupt Navy second lieutenant who had coerced Lice into coming to him by capturing her son. When Smoker and Tashigi arrived, Ener claimed Lice had willingly brought him her family’s sword, and Tashigi urged her to speak freely.

  • Ener recovered his memories and learned that his predecessor had abducted Lice to force her to comply.
  • Lice told Ener she had brought the sword he requested, while Ener examined the heirloom Ice Demon.
  • Smoker and Tashigi entered after receiving a report that Ener had abducted a civilian woman.
  • Ener claimed Lice had offered him the sword because she admired his bravery against pirates.
  • Tashigi invited Lice to explain what had happened in front of Smoker.

Ch. 2My Temper's Really Flaring Right Now!

Ener forced Lice to offer him the Skillful Blade Ice Demon while Smoker failed to prove that he had abducted her. After two systems awakened and granted him powerful abilities, Ener prepared to use Smoker’s order to pursue the Krieg Pirates to advance his career, then turned his anger toward Lice.

  • Ener used Johnson’s skull ring and his claim of having a Vice Admiral father to pressure Lice into presenting Ice Demon as a voluntary gift.
  • Lice described Ice Demon’s history and handed the blade to Ener, who accused his unnamed reporter of slander as Smoker and Tashigi left.
  • Smoker ordered Ener to remain on standby for two hours before pursuing the Krieg Pirates, hoping Ener would fail and face demotion.
  • The Sword Soul System and Military Rank System awakened, and Ener claimed Superman Body and Observation Haki from their novice gift packs.
  • Ener identified Krieg, Gin, and Pearl as targets whose capture could earn him a promotion.
  • Lice pleaded for Johnson’s release, and Ener accused her of nearly exposing him before lifting her chin and threatening her.

Ch. 3Gin

Lice realized that Ener had made her son Johnson a Marine, while Smoker's squad sailed to an island under attack by pirates. When Gin nearly struck Tashigi, Ener intercepted his blow and faced the Krieg Pirates' vice-captain.

  • Lice found Johnson waiting outside Ener's room and learned that he had become a Marine, leaving her to consider Ener's influence over their future.
  • Ener boarded Smoker's Warship with a thirty-man squad as Smoker and Tashigi regarded him with suspicion.
  • Smoker's Warship approached a burning island, and Smoker flew ahead to rescue its people while Tashigi led the Marines ashore.
  • Tashigi ordered her riflemen to fire on Gin and his pirates, but Gin dodged the bullets and rushed at her.
  • Ener struck Gin's tonfa with his sword, forced him back, and saved Tashigi from the attack.

Ch. 4Defeat

Ener defeated Gin and sent him to the warship's brig before joining Tashigi in the town. There, Ener cut down a pirate who had killed a man and attacked his children.

  • Ener blocked Gin from pursuing Tashigi and defeated him with his sword, freezing his wounds and leaving him unable to stand.
  • Ener ordered his marines to lock Gin in the warship's brig, then caught up with Tashigi.
  • Ener and Tashigi entered the town and saw a pirate kill a middle-aged man and seize his daughter.
  • The dead man's son charged the pirate with a chopper, but the pirate kicked him away.
  • Ener decapitated the pirate before he could harm the siblings further.

Ch. 5Ener Goes Berserk

Ener confronted Krieg’s pirates, who were using townspeople as hostages to keep Smoker from attacking. He killed hostages and their captors together, leaving the townspeople terrified and the standoff spiraling into chaos.

  • Ener told the rescued siblings to hide and protect each other, then rushed onward to fight more pirates.
  • Ener reached Smoker and saw Krieg and Pearl using townspeople as hostages, preventing Smoker from acting freely.
  • Ener pierced a hostage and the pirate behind him with one thrust, then knocked both to the ground.
  • Ener declared that Marines would not accept pirate threats and invoked absolute justice, shocking Smoker with his resemblance to Akainu’s methods.
  • Ener repeated the attack on another hostage and captor, then turned toward the next hostage while Krieg’s crew and the townspeople feared him.

Ch. 6Awe-Inspiring the Entire Crowd

Ener used his ruthless attacks and threats to make the Krieg Pirates release their hostages, while Smoker seized the opening to separate the townspeople from the pirates. Krieg fled with "Iron Wall" Pearl staying behind to hold Ener off.

  • Ener told Smoker he wanted to slaughter everyone and frame the massacre on the Krieg Pirates, then attacked a townman despite Smoker’s attempt to stop him.
  • Ener deliberately pointed the Ice Demon at hostages, frightening the pirates into distancing themselves from the townspeople and creating a divide between them.
  • Ener decapitated the Krieg Pirates’ staff officer when he tried to warn Krieg, then carried the severed head toward Krieg and cowed the pirates into releasing their hostages.
  • Smoker used White Smoke Bomb to separate the townspeople from the pirates as Krieg realized the situation was lost and fled.
  • "Iron Wall" Pearl stopped to cover Krieg’s escape, and Ener pursued Pearl with swift, merciless strikes.

Ch. 7Accidentally Showing Off a Little

Ener defeated Pearl the “Iron Wall” and returned him to the Marine warship, where Smoker and Tashigi praised his performance. Ener claimed he had killed the townspeople he had stabbed so pirates across the East Blue would believe hostages were useless, leaving Smoker to recognize his plan to deter future hostage-taking at the cost of his reputation.

  • Ener dodged Pearl the “Iron Wall’s” flaming bullets, then struck him twice with sword techniques and knocked him unconscious against a building wall.
  • Smoker passed Ener while pursuing the fleeing Krieg, and Ener took Pearl back to the warship instead of joining the chase.
  • Ener’s Marines welcomed him aboard and put Pearl in the ship’s cell.
  • Smoker and Tashigi thanked Ener, and Smoker said his actions would earn him an exceptional promotion.
  • Smoker realized Ener wanted his supposed killings of the townspeople publicized to deter pirates from taking hostages, and Tashigi understood the cost to his reputation.

Ch. 8Lina

Ener obtained the Skillful Blade Flame Dragon, completing his pair with Ice Demon and unlocking his dual-blade sword soul, which raised his overall strength. Lina revealed that her swordsmanship talent was limited by her frail body and offered to serve Ener if he could get her a Zoan Devil Fruit, then tried to persuade him by offering herself.

  • Lina introduced herself as Johnson's aunt and gave Ener the katana Flame Dragon after he insisted on seeing the sword.
  • Ener drew Flame Dragon, and his system activated the Dual-Blade Burns sword soul, raising his swordsmanship to Colonel and overall strength to Lieutenant Colonel.
  • Lina demonstrated that she had reached the Iron-Cutting Realm but could swing a sword only once because her body was frail.
  • Lina explained that a Zoan Devil Fruit could overcome her weakness and offered to swear lifelong service to Ener if he obtained one for her.
  • Ener questioned why he should give her a Devil Fruit, and Lina began to reveal her body as she offered him something others could not.

Ch. 9White Tiger Fruit

Ener explained his ambitions in the East Blue to Burns, who secured his promotion, an inspector post, and a White Tiger Zoan Devil Fruit for him. Burns also promised to seek more Devil Fruits for Ener’s plans to build his own forces, while Tashigi called for him.

  • Ener answered Burns’s call and claimed he had hidden his strength because he wanted to gain power and wealth by staying in the East Blue.
  • Burns told Ener that he had been promoted two ranks to Captain and appointed one of the East Blue’s ten Marine inspectors.
  • Burns revealed that the Celestial Dragons had granted him a wish and that he had obtained a Cat-Cat Fruit, Model: White Tiger, for Ener.
  • Ener asked whether Burns could help acquire other Devil Fruits, and Burns agreed to watch for an auction on the Sabaody Archipelago and buy fruits if no Celestial Dragons attended.
  • Burns said he would arrange delivery of the White Tiger Fruit, then teased Ener after Tashigi called for him.

Ch. 10Building My Own Team

Ener received an exceptional promotion to Captain and became an East Blue Marine Inspector, then began assembling a team for a plan against Arlong and the corrupt officials protecting him. Smoker agreed to let Ener recruit Gin, and Ener asked the imprisoned pirate to join him.

  • Smoker gave Ener his appointment as Captain and one of the ten East Blue Inspectors, while Ener declined Smoker’s offer to take his former soldiers.
  • Ener asked to recruit Gin the Man-Demon instead of Tashigi, and told Smoker he planned to use Gin against Arlong and the Inspector colluding with Colonel Nezire.
  • Smoker agreed, but said Ener had to persuade Gin and handle the pirate’s change of identity himself.
  • Tashigi led Ener to the prison, where Krieg recognized him as the Marine who had defeated Gin and their crew.
  • Ener asked Gin whether he wanted to join the team he was building.

Ch. 11Unexpected Visitor

Ener recruited Gin by offering him freedom in exchange for becoming a Marine subordinate, while Gin asked him to treat Krieg and Pearl well. A month later, an unexpected visitor arrived at Ener’s door and overheard something that made him think of Burns’s son.

  • Krieg volunteered to join Ener, but Gin gave up his own chance to free his captain and Pearl and agreed to become Ener’s subordinate instead.
  • Ener accepted Gin’s conditions and had Tashigi release him from the cell, while Krieg stayed behind.
  • Tashigi told Ener that Smoker had prepared a warship for him, and Ener discovered it was the Krieg Pirates’ Dreadnought Saber.
  • Ener decided to wait for a Devil Fruit to be delivered for Lina before changing his travel plans and heading to Syrup Village.
  • A month later, an unexpected visitor arrived at Ener’s door and overheard something that reminded him of Burns’s son.

Ch. 12Setting Out

Bogard delivered the Zoan-type Cat-Cat Fruit, Model: White Tiger, to Ener, who gave it to Lina before setting sail with his Marines. The ship headed for Syrup Village, while Smoker and Bogard discussed Ener’s potential and possible loyalties.

  • Bogard brought Ener a Devil Fruit from his father, and Ener gave the White Tiger fruit to Lina.
  • Lina ate the fruit, transformed into a hybrid human-beast form, and demonstrated her enhanced strength by breaking a tree with one punch.
  • Ener assembled his crew aboard the warship Saber and chose Syrup Village as their destination, with Daniel recommending a resupply stop at Black Thorn Island.
  • Ener promised to support Daniel’s promotion and rallied the Marines, who saluted and pledged their loyalty to him.
  • Ener’s crew sailed from port, and Smoker and Bogard watched as they discussed Ener’s abilities, his concern for commoners, and whether he might join their side.

Ch. 13A Forceful Landing on Black Thorn Island

Ener and the Marines reached Black Thorn Island, where a gathering of powerful East Blue pirates attacked their Warship. After Lina and Ener stopped the cannon barrage, they led Gin in boarding the Bloody Hand Pirates’ ship and cutting down its crew, while the pirates’ vice-captain ordered riflemen to fire at Ener.

  • Daniel identified several pirate crews with bounties above ten million Beli and urged Ener to withdraw from Black Thorn Island.
  • The Bloody Hand Pirates and other crews opened fire on the Warship, but Lina sliced apart the incoming cannonballs.
  • Ener joined Lina in destroying the remaining cannonballs as Daniel directed the Marines’ counterattack, disabling several pirate ships.
  • Ener ordered Daniel to guard the Warship and led Gin and Lina onto the Bloody Hand Pirates’ ship, where they slaughtered the pirates.
  • The Bloody Hand Pirates’ vice-captain sent riflemen to shoot Ener, whom he recognized as the leader.

Ch. 14This Is Zoro

Ener, Lina, and Gin defeated the pirates attacking the harbor, but several ships escaped. They then met the bounty hunter Roronoa Zoro, who agreed to join Ener against the remaining pirates and claimed Blood Butcher as his target.

  • Ener dodged bullets with Observation Haki and defeated pirates on both ships with his Flame Tornado attack.
  • The remaining pirates fled, leaving six ships in the harbor, and the trio rested before entering the island.
  • Daniel warned Ener that someone was approaching, and Ener recognized the injured Zoro carrying Captain Black Bear’s severed head.
  • Zoro asked the Marines to pay him the bounty for Black Bear, whose bounty was sixteen million Beli.
  • Ener proposed that Zoro work with them to hunt the remaining pirates, and Zoro chose Blood Butcher as his target.

Ch. 15The Pirates' Counterattack

Ener, Lina, Zoro, and Gin fought the pirate captains, swiftly defeating several of them. Blood Butcher and Kasli launched counterattacks against Zoro and Lina as the other pirates fled toward their ship.

  • Ener, Lina, and Zoro each struck down their chosen captain with a swift sword attack, leaving Kasli standing after Lina’s weaker blow.
  • Gin exploited Red Fox’s distraction, smashed her sword, and knocked her unconscious with a tonfa strike; Ener then kicked her in the face.
  • The surviving pirates panicked and fled toward their ship while Blood Butcher attacked Zoro with a chained axe.
  • Kasli leaped into the air and punched down at Lina, who met his attack with a two-handed sword swing.

Ch. 16Paramecia—Whirlwind Fruit User

Lina and Zoro defeated Kasli and Blood Butcher, while Matthew escaped using his newly acquired Whirlwind Fruit powers. Ener then tried to recruit Zoro by promising him powerful blades, swordsmanship guidance, and a chance to challenge Mihawk.

  • Lina transformed into her human-beast form and fought Kasli as Zoro battled Blood Butcher.
  • Zoro used Flying Dragon Flame and Bull Needle to kill Blood Butcher.
  • Lina cut through Kasli’s iron gauntlet, revealed her Iron-Cutting Realm, and killed him with a strike to the throat.
  • Matthew revealed that he could fly on whirlwinds and escaped, prompting Ener to consider learning Geppo so he could pursue him.
  • Ener offered Zoro Skillful Blades, guidance from master swordsmen, and the chance to face Mihawk to persuade him to join.
  • Ener showed Zoro Ice Demon and Flame Dragon, then remembered Yubashiri and Sandai Kitetsu and planned to obtain them.

Ch. 17Dividing the Spoils

Ener recruited Zoro and assigned ranks and rewards to the others after they helped defeat Black Thorn Island. He reported their achievements to Smoker, who recognized Ener’s maneuver to secure promotions and took particular interest in Zoro and Lina.

  • Zoro accepted Ener’s invitation to join the Marines, and Ener promised him a promotion for killing Blood Butcher and Black Bear.
  • Ener assigned Lina, Gin, and Daniel ranks, promised Daniel a future base command, and recommended promotions for the fifty Marines.
  • Ener ordered Daniel to distribute the pirates’ valuables among the crew and key allies, then made Johnson chief logistics officer aboard his ship.
  • Ener reported the victory and submitted a promotion list to Smoker, recommending ranks one level higher than the ones he had promised.
  • Smoker saw through Ener’s tactic but agreed the group had earned major promotions, and he took special note of Zoro and Lina.

Ch. 18Successfully Promoted to Major

Ener earned a promotion to Major and was appointed East Blue Chief Inspector General, while Lina was promoted to Lieutenant Staff Officer. As the group approached Syrup Village, Smoker delivered the appointment orders and told Ener to establish the East Blue Inspector Headquarters.

  • Smoker promised to recommend Ener for promotion after Ener led the destruction of Black Thorn Island, and Ener assured him he would not prey on civilians.
  • Lina and Johnson asked Ener about obtaining a Devil Fruit for Johnson, but Ener rebuked them and explained the fruit Lina had received was exceptionally valuable.
  • Ener warned Johnson to fulfill his duties as Chief Quartermaster, then Lina stayed behind with Ener.
  • During the next half month, Ener, Zoro, Lina, and Gin trained and sparred together as their relationships grew closer.
  • Smoker informed Ener that he had been promoted to Major and appointed East Blue Chief Inspector General, while Lina became a Lieutenant Staff Officer.

Ch. 19Syrup Village

After gaining the Whale Shark Fish-Man Lineage Factor and mastering the Six Powers, Ener planned to seize Shells Town by exposing Morgan’s tyranny and capturing Kuro. As the ship reached Syrup Village, Ener flew ahead using Geppo, astonishing the Marines and his companions.

  • Ener chose and integrated the Whale Shark Fish-Man Lineage Factor, raising his overall strength to Colonel level.
  • Ener told Smoker he wanted to turn the 153rd Branch in Shells Town into the East Blue Inspector Headquarters, citing Morgan’s tyranny and Kuro’s whereabouts as justification.
  • Smoker agreed to consider the plan if the allegations were confirmed and Ener captured Kuro.
  • Ener spotted the island near Syrup Village, then used Geppo to race ahead toward it.
  • The Marines, Lina, Zoro, and Gin watched Ener fly, and Daniel identified the technique as one of the Six Powers.

Ch. 20Exposing Kuro

Ener exposed Klahadore as Captain Kuro of the Black Cat Pirates, who had infiltrated Kaya’s household to steal her family’s fortune and was responsible for her parents’ deaths. Kuro revealed himself and attacked Ener from behind, leaving his claws at Ener’s neck as Kaya, Usopp, and Merry watched in horror.

  • Ener arrived at Kaya’s manor and recognized Usopp in the courtyard.
  • Ener identified Klahadore as Kuro of a Hundred Plans and explained that he had faked his death to steal Kaya’s family property.
  • Merry realized Kuro had harmed Kaya’s parents, and Kaya confronted Klahadore about Ener’s accusation.
  • Kuro dropped his disguise, threatened everyone, and dismissed Ener as a mere Navy Captain.
  • Kuro used Nuki Ashi to appear behind Ener and slashed at his neck with his Ten-Blade Cat Claws.

Ch. 21Persuading Kaya

Ener defeated Kuro without being harmed and recruited Merry to run a trading business, offering medical care and training for Kaya. Merry agreed to serve Ener, who promised ships and support to get the business started.

  • Ener's Iron Body stopped Kuro's blade, and Ener used Shave to appear behind Kuro and knock him unconscious.
  • Ener asked Usopp about becoming a pirate, and Usopp denied it while nervously backing away.
  • Ener proposed that Merry run a business with his capital and connections, offering him ten percent of the profits and his backing in the East Blue.
  • Ener offered to arrange treatment for Kaya at a Marine hospital and medical instruction so she could pursue her wish to become a doctor.
  • Merry agreed to serve Ener after learning he was a newly promoted Major and East Blue Inspector General.
  • Ener offered his Warship and seized pirate ships for the trading fleet, and Merry said they would be enough to begin.

Ch. 22Fate's Gears

Ener gave Daniel the resources and personnel to establish an Inspector base, then sailed the Merry to Shells Town with Kaya and his companions. There, Ener saw the town’s frightened residents and encountered Colonel Morgan’s arrogant son as he prepared to confront Morgan.

  • Ener gave Daniel sixty percent of the seized valuables, left him most of the Marines, and ordered him to establish an Inspector base on the island.
  • Ener sailed for Shells Town with Lina, Zoro, Gin, Kaya, five soldiers, and the captive Kuro, while Gin trained to use Shave during the voyage.
  • Ener arrived at Shells Town and ordered Lina to protect Kaya while he, Gin, and Zoro went to visit Colonel Morgan.
  • The townspeople reacted fearfully and with disgust to the Marines, and Ener noticed the prosperous town’s residents seemed unhappy.
  • An arrogant man led two vicious dogs through the streets as townspeople fled, and Zoro felt tempted to attack him.

Ch. 23Morgan

Major Ener confronted Helmeppo in Shells Town and ordered Morgan to appear before him. Morgan assumed Ener could be bribed and brought one hundred million Beli, leaving the encounter unresolved.

  • Helmeppo arrogantly challenged Ener, and Gin knocked him unconscious while Ener scared off his dogs.
  • Ener identified himself as Chief Inspector and ordered two Marines to bring Morgan to him.
  • Morgan called an associate, who advised him to prepare Beli and warned him to protect the associate’s share.
  • Morgan ordered one hundred million Beli prepared and left the branch with soldiers carrying boxes of money.
  • Morgan and his soldiers arrived before Ener, Zoro, and Gin.

Ch. 24Nero of CP9

Ener confronted Colonel Morgan in Shells Town, arrested him for releasing Kuro and abusing the town, and ordered Gin to defeat him. After Gin overwhelmed Morgan, Ener recognized a familiar newcomer watching them as Nero, a new member of CP9.

  • Morgan greeted Ener with chests of treasure, but Ener had Gin bring Kuro forward and accused Morgan of deceiving Marine headquarters and brutalizing Shells Town.
  • Morgan offered Ener more wealth, then attacked him with his axe when Ener refused the bribe.
  • Gin blocked Morgan's strike and defeated him with a Shave-assisted blow that shattered his ribs.
  • A lean man appeared nearby and watched Gin with astonishment, and Ener recognized him as Nero, the new member of CP9.

Ch. 25Ambition

Nero revealed that CP9 wanted Morgan to work for them, then knocked him unconscious and took him away, leaving Ener suspicious of CP9’s motives. Ener warned Zoro and Gin about CP9’s strength and the powerful figures in the wider world, while a ship linked to Mihawk’s subordinate approached Shells Town and its crew prepared to attack.

  • Nero recognized Ener’s knowledge of the Six Powers and asked to speak privately with Morgan, then offered Morgan a place in CP9 in exchange for overlooking his crimes.
  • After Morgan refused, Nero knocked him unconscious and carried him away; Gin questioned CP9’s motives, and Ener asked that Morgan receive a fair disposition.
  • Ener explained CP9’s capabilities to Zoro and Gin and described Rob Lucci, Mihawk, and the world’s strongest fighters, inspiring Zoro to renew his vow to become the world’s greatest swordsman.
  • A mysterious ship approached Shells Town, and Ener identified the tall man aboard as one of Mihawk’s subordinates as the ship’s armed men charged toward them.
  • Zoro recalled his childhood promise and swore to become the world’s greatest Master Swordsman while Ener wondered why Nero had taken Morgan.
