His reputation rested on exceptionally violent law enforcement: he believed that criminals who ignored the rules could only be controlled through pain severe enough to make both them and bystanders remember “order.” His methods repeatedly brought him into conflict with local officials. 34

After pursuing a handbag thief through the market, Lafitte recognized the man was feigning remorse while reaching for a concealed dagger. He responded by crippling the thief with precise cane strikes before returning the stolen bag to its owner; the victim fled in fear of Lafitte as well. 34

A senior official condemned Lafitte publicly while secretly profiting from the thief’s crimes. The official mobilized roughly five hundred border soldiers to expel and eliminate Lafitte, but Lafitte incapacitated the entire force in less than fifteen minutes. The official then ordered a false report portraying Lafitte as a violent criminal driven out by the kingdom’s soldiers. 35

Wounded and alienated after the incident, Lafitte considered piracy as his remaining path. Adams approached him on the coast, having witnessed the battle with the garrison and understood the circumstances of his expulsion. Lafitte challenged Adams, was decisively defeated, and accepted Adams as his master after hearing his ambition to rule the world. 36

After joining the Adams Pirates, Lafitte became one of Adams’s trusted senior operatives. Alongside Daz Bones, he helped consolidate the underworld of the Four Blues, while also supporting the crew’s wider intelligence efforts and carrying out sensitive recruitment assignments. 63 137 138

His mock-politeness and sing-song manner conceal a vicious temper, particularly when criminals or officials attempt to deceive him. 34 35

Despite his cruelty, Lafitte is not blindly obedient. He refused to leave Pejella quietly because he would not accept humiliation, then tested Adams personally before agreeing to serve him. Adams’s overwhelming strength and declared desire to overturn the existing world order transformed Lafitte’s uncertainty into fervent loyalty. 35 36

Within the Adams Pirates, Lafitte has proven cooperative and tactically reliable. During the battle against Gambino Francis, he and Daz Bones protected Lucci while he prepared Rokuogan; afterward, Lafitte explicitly called them companions. 48

Recruitment into the Adams Pirates

Adams found Lafitte after his expulsion and offered him a place as a subordinate. Lafitte tested Adams in battle, lost overwhelmingly, and joined after learning that Adams sought the world rather than the One Piece. 36

War Against the Five Great Families

Lafitte participated in the raid on the Colombo Family’s orphanage front, disabling guards while the crew seized its hidden supplies and wealth. 38

During the final assault on the Five Great Families, Lafitte, Lucci, and Daz Bones defeated Gambino Francis through coordinated tactics. Lafitte’s hypnosis delayed Francis long enough for Lucci to unleash Rokuogan. 48

Byrnndi World Ambush

Lafitte was among the four officers assigned to destroy Byrnndi World’s ships, prevent escapes by sea, and collect spoils from the ambush at Sicily Island. 70

Adams sent Lafitte into the Florian Triangle to locate and recruit Brook, instructing him to reveal that Laboon had remained alive and had waited at Reverse Mountain for more than thirty years.
