Background / History

Robin grew up isolated on Ohara. Her mother left when she was two, instructing her to remain with her uncle’s family so she could be found upon returning; the household routinely neglected and starved her. Other children called her a monster because of her Devil Fruit ability, and Robin learned to endure mistreatment without resisting or seeking help. 2 3 8

She first met Adams when he intervened as children stoned her in an alley. Unlike the others, he reacted to her ability with curiosity rather than fear. Their shared interest in the Tree of Knowledge and its books quickly formed the basis of their friendship. 2

Over the following year, Adams regularly brought Robin food and challenged her habit of forcing an unhappy smile. After gaining his Devil Fruit, he used a “friendly discussion” with her uncle and aunt to bring her into his home; by the time she was eight, their relationship had become that of family. 3 6
