Background / History

Ai Miye led a group of thirteen homeless youths who survived in a concealed cave near House Town. Having endured hunger, winter, and the deaths of other children, she became deeply suspicious of adults—especially those who appeared kind—because she had witnessed human traffickers lure children aboard ships and imprison them in cages. 23 24

Her unusual intuition repeatedly kept the group alive. She sensed Jabus approaching before his attacks and, later, recognized Hawkins as a far more terrifying presence. When Hawkins neared the group’s refuge, Ai Miye attempted to lure him away alone so the other children could hide. 23

Although she initially feared Hawkins intended to sell the children, she concluded that he had no need to deceive people he could defeat effortlessly. His decision to wait for her judgment, rather than force the group’s surrender, earned her cautious trust; she ordered Arthur and the others to lower their weapons and accepted Hawkins’s offer of shelter aboard the Black Knife. 24

Ai Miye’s intuition originated in an inherited Curse Caster bloodline. When her anxiety peaked aboard the Black Knife, dormant power erupted as black energy and pulled both her and Hawkins into a trial ground connected to the Dream Realm. A red bead from her ancestor’s corpse triggered her Bloodline Inheritance and revealed the existence of an ancestral legacy. 25 26

Her ancestor’s spirit later possessed her body and impersonated her while attempting to secure the Devil’s Horn. Hawkins destroyed the relic, then used the evolved Eternal Sea Chart to devour the spirit still hidden within Ai Miye, freeing her from possession. 27

Afterward, Ai Miye awoke in Eternal Space, where Hawkins had recreated and restored House Town as a safer home. She remained there while Hawkins investigated the outside world, later helping welcome the resurrected Asmodeus and joining Hawkins’s contract-based family group. 28 29

Personality

Ai Miye is protective, decisive, and willing to risk herself for the children under her care. Her instinctive response to danger is to place herself between a threat and the group, even when she is frightened and believes she may die. 23

Her distrust is rooted in hardship rather than hostility. She questions Hawkins’s motives repeatedly, worries that her decision could endanger the other children, and remains alert to the possibility of exploitation. Once convinced of his sincerity, however, she commits firmly to her choice and reassures the others that they are safe with him. 24 25

She is compassionate and emotionally supportive toward Asmodeus, encouraging him after his repeated deaths while scouting the Dream Realm.
