"Here we are."
Luo Yuhang gently patted Qi Ji's shoulder. The force was light, yet perfectly enough to pull Qi Ji back from his thoughts.
That broad palm lingered on his shoulder for a moment, as if conveying silent encouragement and reassurance.
"Mm... yeah." Qi Ji came back to himself, nodded, took a deep breath, and followed Luo Yuhang out of the elevator.
Although the eighteenth floor of the War God Temple headquarters was buried deep within the mountain, it was not particularly dark.
Dense Soul Tool lights covered the ceiling and walls, their soft white glow illuminating the entire corridor as brightly as day.
Though this artificial light could not compare to genuine sunlight, the broad space and ample illumination kept the place from feeling overly oppressive.
Still, Qi Ji quietly thought to himself—if someone lived here for too long without ever seeing daylight, it probably would not be good for their mental health.
Before long, the two arrived outside a room.
A Soul Master in standard military uniform stood on each side of the door, their backs straight as pines. The moment they saw Luo Yuhang approach, they immediately stood at attention and saluted.
"Greetings, sir. The three hall masters are already waiting inside."
"Mm, thanks for the effort." Luo Yuhang nodded, then glanced at Qi Ji. "Qi Ji, shall we go in?"
He reached out and pushed open the heavy alloy door.
The instant the door opened, the gazes of the three people seated in the tea room converged on them.
It was clear that, while waiting for Qi Ji's arrival, these three Limit Douluo had not been handling official business. Instead, they sat around an antique tea table, several cups of steaming tea before them. The atmosphere was far more relaxed than Qi Ji had imagined.
"Yuhang is back—come, sit down. This must be the little genius our War God Temple has newly recruited, right?"
The first to speak was a middle-aged man with graying temples. He wore a warm smile, but beneath it lay the authority and composure of someone in a high position. When he looked at Qi Ji, his eyes carried a serious scrutiny.
Beside him sat a man who appeared much younger. His features were as refined as jade, his temperament elegant and easygoing, and a faint smile always rested on his lips, giving him the approachable warmth of a spring breeze.
At the innermost seat sat an elderly man with a solemn expression and an innate air of authority. His back was straight as a blade, and even sitting quietly, he possessed a presence that made others wary of acting rashly.
Qi Ji quickly identified the three men—from front to back, they were Divine Brush Douluo Yu Guanzhi, Heaven-Surpassing Douluo Guan Yue, and Vast Sea Douluo Chen Xinjie.
Any one of these three Limit Douluo, taken alone, could make the entire continent tremble with a single stomp. Yet now, all three sat together merely to meet a six-year-old child.
"Greetings, Your Excellencies. I am Qi Ji." Qi Ji stepped forward and bowed properly to the three of them, respectful yet neither servile nor overbearing.
"Oh, no need for such formality!" Yu Guanzhi waved a hand first, his smile warm.
"We heard Yuhang talk on the phone about just how talented you are. He said you are a future pillar of our Federation! Yuhang has never been one to praise others, so for him to hold you in such high regard, we truly could not wait to meet you."
"Dark Emperor Douluo said you are even more talented than Skycrosser Douluo. Could you let us witness it for ourselves?"
Guan Yue also smiled as he chimed in. His tone held the warmth of an elder teasing a junior, but the curiosity and seriousness deep in his eyes could not be concealed.
"Show us," Chen Xinjie said. His voice was low and resonant, and though his words were brief, they carried exceptional weight.
"We are all curious about the genius worthy of drawing the anticipation of all three of us."
Just as expected... no matter what, it would ultimately come down to talent.
Qi Ji was not surprised.
After all, everyone's expectations and regard for him stemmed from his heaven-defying talent and potential.
Without that concrete strength to support him, he would merely be an ordinary six-year-old orphan.
"Of course."
Qi Ji raised his head slightly, a confident smile appearing on his lips that did not quite suit his age.
"I think that in only a few years, everyone present—even everyone on the entire continent—will probably be inferior to me."
Coming from the mouth of a six-year-old child, those words were arrogant to an almost unreasonable degree. Yet Qi Ji's tone was calm and even, as though he were simply stating an obvious fact.
After all, since the three hall masters wanted to see an unrivaled genius, he would show them one.
A genius needed some pride to be interesting.
Besides, he was only six years old. In a six-year-old child, arrogance and confidence were often separated by only a thin line—and that line happened to be in his hands.
"Martial Soul—Possession!"
With a thought from Qi Ji, the phantom of a seven-colored giant dragon suddenly appeared behind him. Its body coiled through the air, its seven-colored scales radiating magnificent light.
At the same time, the Nine-Tassel Crown above his head appeared as well, nine strings of jade tassels hanging down as gemstones shimmered endlessly.
The instant both Martial Souls appeared, an innate majesty spread from his small body, as if a crown prince had arrived and the myriad officials were about to bow in homage.
Although the Martial Souls of the three hall masters were all tool-type Martial Souls rather than dragon types, at that instant, all three still felt a faint pressure.
That pressure did not come from a difference in Soul Power Level, but from suppression in status.
To look upon one's sovereign was to harbor the intent to assassinate the king. Though Qi Ji's current strength was worlds apart from theirs and could not truly suppress Limit Douluo, the natural majesty of his bloodline and rank still made all three inwardly tense.
"Good... very good!"
Yu Guanzhi was the first to applaud, the satisfaction on his face entirely undisguised.
The strength of Qi Ji's Martial Souls alone was already astonishing. This was the first time in his life that he had seen a Martial Soul capable of exerting status-based suppression on a Limit Douluo.
"Judging purely by the strength of his Martial Souls, they are truly the strongest I have ever seen in this age."
Guan Yue could not help shaking his head in amazement. His gaze rested on Qi Ji, carrying a complicated expression of admiration for the younger generation.
"Mm, not bad. Worthy of being the War God Temple' exceptional young talent."
Though Chen Xinjie spoke little, that brief assessment was already enough to reveal his attitude.
All three could not help nodding in satisfaction.
For a genius, talent was the ticket to everything. Only with talent could one speak of the future.
And Qi Ji's ticket had already far exceeded their initial expectations.
This conversation went on for quite some time.
The three hall masters took turns examining Qi Ji from every angle: his understanding of Martial Souls, the pairing of Soul Spirits, the direction of his future cultivation, and his views on the balance among various factions. Almost nothing was left untouched.
For a six-year-old child, such intense questioning seemed somewhat harsh, yet Qi Ji's performance remained steady and composed throughout.
After all, he was not truly a six-year-old in the conventional sense. The college student soul within him, one that had lived through an age of information explosion, gave him knowledge and thinking abilities far beyond those of children his age.
However, when answering their questions, Qi Ji also appropriately retained some of a child's innocence and immaturity.
Some words would seem abrupt or overly sharp coming from an adult, but from a six-year-old child, they instead appeared candid and endearing.
As the three hall masters watched this little fellow, both exceptionally intelligent and still childlike, the satisfaction in their eyes grew ever stronger.
No matter what, from this day onward, the name Qi Ji would be placed upon the desks of certain important figures and remembered by the world as a genius the Federation would cultivate with priority.
Considering that he was not a girl this time, he probably would not be snatched away halfway like Ya Li, right?
