Background

Chen Qi was raised in an ordinary farming family in Qingshi Village, also called Bluestone Village, with no Soul Master background or access to cultivation resources. His low innate talent left him far behind a childhood friend who advanced to an intermediate academy, while his father’s illness depleted the family’s savings and prevented him from obtaining a Soul Spirit after reaching Level 10. He eventually acquired his first Soul Ring only by encountering a mutated lizard with Soul Power. 57 58

His childhood friend was a girl with Level 6 innate Soul Power. They attended Junior Academy together and grew close, but she reached Level 10 after three years while he had only reached Level 8. As the gap between them widened, Chen Qi became ashamed to approach her and avoided her when she returned to the village. 58

Before joining Anti-Entropy, his Qilin Armor Beast Martial Soul was considered an exceptionally weak earth-dragon descendant, with dragon bloodline concentration below three ten-thousandths. Mo Yuan identified its degraded lineage as a suitable target for genetic restoration through the Meta-Morph Preparation, also called the Super Mutation Serum. 57 58

Mo Yuan personally recruited Chen Qi by offering him a chance to become stronger. Chen accepted the risks of the experiment and became Anti-Entropy Technology’s first human employee; all prior personnel had been robots. 58

Appearance

Before his fusion, Chen Qi was a thin, dark-complexioned village boy whose labor-hardened hands and thick knuckle calluses reflected his rural upbringing. 57

Personality

Chen Qi was initially quiet, cautious, and accustomed to being overlooked. His difficult upbringing left him painfully aware of the gap between himself and more talented Soul Masters, but he chose an extremely dangerous experiment rather than remain confined by poverty and low talent. 57 58

Following his transformation, he became increasingly confident in battle and fiercely loyal to Anti-Entropy and Mo Yuan, whom he calls the Alliance Leader. He is straightforward and often dismissive toward challengers, believing overwhelming force is the most effective answer to repeated provocation. 72 78 82

Despite his harshness toward enemies, Chen Qi can acknowledge fault. After losing control and nearly killing Yu Tianlei, he apologized upon regaining his senses. 84

His loyalty includes respecting Anti-Entropy’s confidentiality: when his classmates asked about his rapid improvement, he explained that he had to obey the Alliance Leader’s orders rather than freely disclose its cause. He also regards Mo Yuan’s kindness as a debt he can never fully repay. 72 92

Chen Qi’s body incorporates White Armor Earth Dragon genes through the Meta-Morph Preparation, granting him a defensive and physical-combat specialization far beyond his original Martial Soul. 58 59

Meta-Morph Experiment

Mo Yuan selected Chen Qi as the first subject for the Meta-Morph Preparation because his degraded dragon-descendant Martial Soul could potentially regain its missing genetic traits. Chen Qi accepted the experiment despite being warned that it could kill him. 57 58

Before administering the Super Mutation Serum, Mo Yuan performed two hours of examinations and injected a Mental Enhancement Serum to protect Chen Qi’s mind from the coming strain. The White Armor Earth Dragon genes then began integrating through the serum’s Blue Silver Emperor carrier sequence. 58

The fusion nearly caused spiritual collapse and fatal genetic rejection. Mo Yuan refused to sedate him because interrupting the process would have caused the fusion to fail; Chen Qi endured the conflict and successfully became a Fusion Warrior. 59

The violent rejection lasted approximately ten minutes. Once the fusion was complete, Mo Yuan authorized a life-energy-rich sedative to stabilize his mind and aid recovery. Chen Qi subsequently slept for nearly twelve hours before undergoing the tests that established his exceptional physical attributes. 59 60

Class Zero

Recommended by Anti-Entropy Technology, Chen Qi joined Eastsea Academy’s Class Zero alongside Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Gu Yuena. His exceptional strength, stamina, defense, Soul Power reserves, and rapid combat improvement immediately distinguished him from ordinary students. 72

He remained a regular sparring partner for Tang Wulin and Xie Xie. His progress became a major point of comparison for Xie Xie, who eventually sought Mo Yuan’s help rather than continue falling behind his classmates. 92 119

After Xu Xiaoyan’s arrival, Chen Qi continued participating in Class Zero’s practical training. Xie Xie’s improved spatial abilities eventually outstripped his speed, prompting him to adjust his sparring tactics toward defensive counterattacks. 135 192

Skysea Grand Competition

Chen Qi defeated Ye Xinglan after she challenged him outside a restaurant, then defeated her again after she appeared as his tournament opponent under a different identity. His victory attracted the attention of Chen Xinjie and other hidden observers. 78 79 80

He later accepted Yu Tianlei’s challenge and endured the latter’s strongest Soul Skill, but the battle triggered his Super Mutation Factor rampage. Gu Yuena’s intervention restored his sanity, allowing him to continue competing. 83 84

Mo Yuan learned of the outburst through Gu Yuena and instructed her to watch Chen Qi while allowing the tournament to proceed normally. 85

After returning to normal, Chen Qi won the individual championship and helped Class Zero secure the team championship. 89

His recovery was complete by the first team match, with no lingering consequences from the rampage. His presence gave Class Zero overwhelming security in a field largely composed of two-ring Soul Grandmasters, allowing Xie Xie to participate in numerous matches while Gu Yuena took a less active role. 89

Anti-Entropy Representative

Chen Qi’s performance became public proof of Anti-Entropy’s Fusion Warrior technology. Chen Xinjie concluded that the system could provide Soul Beast-like combat abilities without depending entirely on conventional Soul Rings or even Soul Power. 80

He remained a visible Anti-Entropy member within Class Zero, later helping introduce Xu Xiaoyan to the class after her recruitment. 119 129

When Mo Yuan returned to Eastsea City, Chen Qi brought the news to Class Zero. The announcement helped prompt Xie Xie to act on his desire to become stronger through Anti-Entropy’s technology. 119

During a later training period, Chen Qi told his classmates that Anti-Entropy was recruiting orphans and unsuccessful civilian Soul Masters to train as Fusion Warriors. After Xu Xiaoyan informed the group that the Holy Spirit Cult had attacked Shrek Academy and Mo Yuan had neutralized the attack, Chen Qi received Amber’s order to return to Anti-Entropy and left. 164

Shrek Academy’s Investigation

Following Ye Xinglan’s injuries, Ye Zhenghong appealed to Cai Yue’er. Unable to reconcile Chen Qi’s one-ring cultivation with his ability to defeat a four-ring Soul Ancestor, Cai Yue’er suspected him of being an Evil Soul Master and ordered an investigation into both him and Anti-Entropy. 99

Cai Yue’er subsequently raised the matter before the Sea God Pavilion, arguing that the injuries to Ye Xinglan and Yu Tianlei required a response. Yu Zhenshan maintained that Yu Tianlei had issued the challenge and accepted his loss, while Yun Ming emphasized that Ye Xinglan had entered the competition against its rules. Yun Ming closed the matter and explicitly prohibited private action against Anti-Entropy. 100

Yu Zhenshan later reaffirmed that Yu Tianlei had genuinely lost, while also acknowledging that Anti-Entropy’s military connections made a confrontation undesirable. 101
