Background

Chen Qi was raised in an ordinary farming family in Qingshi Village, with no Soul Master background or access to cultivation resources. His low innate talent left him far behind a childhood friend who advanced to an intermediate academy, while his father’s illness depleted the family’s savings and prevented him from obtaining a Soul Spirit after reaching Level 10. He eventually acquired his first Soul Ring only by encountering a mutated lizard with Soul Power. 57 58

Before joining Anti-Entropy, his Scaled Armor Beast Martial Soul was considered an exceptionally weak earth-dragon descendant, with dragon bloodline concentration below three ten-thousandths. Mo Yuan identified its degraded lineage as a suitable target for genetic restoration through the Meta-Morph Preparation. 57

Mo Yuan personally recruited Chen Qi by offering him a chance to become stronger. Chen accepted the risks of the experiment and became Anti-Entropy Technology’s first human employee; all prior personnel had been robots. 58

Before his fusion, Chen Qi was a thin, dark-complexioned village boy whose labor-hardened hands and thick knuckle calluses reflected his rural upbringing. 57

Personality

Chen Qi was initially quiet, cautious, and accustomed to being overlooked. His difficult upbringing left him painfully aware of the gap between himself and more talented Soul Masters, but he chose an extremely dangerous experiment rather than remain confined by poverty and low talent. 57 58

Following his transformation, he became increasingly confident in battle and fiercely loyal to Anti-Entropy and Mo Yuan, whom he calls the Alliance Leader. He is straightforward and often dismissive toward challengers, believing overwhelming force is the most effective answer to repeated provocation. 72 78 82

Despite his harshness toward enemies, Chen Qi can acknowledge fault. After losing control and nearly killing Yu Tianlei, he apologized upon regaining his senses. 84

Mo Yuan selected Chen Qi as the first subject for the Meta-Morph Preparation because his degraded dragon-descendant Martial Soul could potentially regain its missing genetic traits. Chen Qi accepted the experiment despite being warned that it could kill him. 57 58

The fusion nearly caused spiritual collapse and fatal genetic rejection. Mo Yuan refused to sedate him because interrupting the process would have caused the fusion to fail; Chen Qi endured the conflict and successfully became a Fusion Warrior. 59

Class Zero

Recommended by Anti-Entropy Technology, Chen Qi joined Eastsea Academy’s Class Zero alongside Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Gu Yuena. His exceptional strength, stamina, defense, Soul Power reserves, and rapid combat improvement immediately distinguished him from ordinary students. 72

Skysea Grand Competition

Chen Qi defeated Ye Xinglan after she challenged him outside a restaurant, then defeated her again after she appeared as his tournament opponent under a different identity. His victory attracted the attention of Chen Xinjie and other hidden observers. 78 79 80

He later accepted Yu Tianlei’s challenge and endured the latter’s strongest Soul Skill, but the battle triggered his Super Mutation Factor rampage. Gu Yuena’s intervention restored his sanity, allowing him to continue competing. 83 84
