Background / History

Gu Yue is the human identity used by Gu Yuena, the Silver Dragon King and one half of the original Dragon God. She once hid beneath the Lake of Life while recovering from her injuries, fearing that the gods would discover her and attack her with divine weapons. She regards Douluo Continent as a cage because its plane laws prevent even powerful beings from freely reaching the universe 91.

Her long-term goal is to restore the Dragon God’s power and lead the Soul Beasts against humanity. She became intensely interested in Tang Wulin because he carries the sealed Golden Dragon King bloodline, which she believed could restore the Dragon God if consumed 43 49.

Gu Yue shares her body and Spirit Sea with Na’er, another consciousness who repeatedly restrains her urge to attack Tang Wulin. Na’er’s presence also creates a persistent conflict between Gu Yue’s strategic goals and Na’er’s affection for Mo Yuan and Tang Wulin 43 82 126.

After Mo Yuan revealed that Tang San’s safeguards still protected Douluo Star, Gu Yue recognized that she could not obtain the Golden Dragon King’s power by force in her weakened state. She therefore agreed to cooperate with Mo Yuan, despite distrusting him and questioning whether his alliance would simply replace one form of control with another 50.

Gu Yue is depicted as a beautiful silver-haired woman with violet eyes. Her appearance is closely associated with her Silver Dragon King identity, while Na’er’s control of their shared body can produce a visibly different demeanor and silver-eyed expression 94 118.

She is also willing to manipulate human factions: her plan was to use Mo Yuan’s attachment to Na’er to weaken humanity before eventually eliminating him 163.

Despite her confidence, Gu Yue is not reckless when confronted with information that changes the balance of power. Mo Yuan’s revelations about Tang Hao, Ah Yin, and Tang San’s remaining divine consciousness force her to abandon an immediate assault on Tang Wulin and accept a tactical alliance 50.

Her greatest internal conflict is between personal choice and responsibility toward the Soul Beasts. The Ferocious Beasts pressure her by invoking her status as their lord, leaving her caught between cooperating with Mo Yuan and following the Soul Beasts’ original plans 163 188.

Gu Yue is also increasingly affected by her relationship with Mo Yuan. She remains wary of his motives and resents his ability to dominate her, yet she continues to cooperate with him, values his knowledge, and becomes visibly flustered during moments of personal intimacy 118 125 177.

Eastsea Academy and Tang Wulin

Gu Yue attends Eastsea Academy alongside Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Chen Qi. Her attention toward Tang Wulin is initially driven by his Golden Dragon King aura rather than ordinary romantic interest. Na’er repeatedly warns her that Tang Wulin is forbidden to touch 43.

She participates in the investigation surrounding the mysterious Soul Tool communication number and later joins the tour of Anti-Entropy Technology. During the tour, she realizes that Mo Yuan’s technology could significantly affect the Soul Beast cause and decides that meeting him is necessary 43 47.

Alliance with Mo Yuan

Mo Yuan identifies Gu Yue as the Silver Dragon King and forces her to ask for information about the vanished God Realm. After learning that Tang San’s safeguards still protect Douluo Star, Gu Yue accepts a partnership with Mo Yuan despite her distrust 49 50.

The alliance places her in a difficult position: Mo Yuan opposes Tang San because he refuses to submit to another ruler, while Gu Yue seeks the restoration of the Dragon God and the liberation of the Soul Beasts 50.

Conflict with the Soul Beasts

Gu Yue’s relationship with the Soul Beasts becomes increasingly strained. Di Tian and the other Ferocious Beasts plan to use Mo Yuan against humanity and discard him afterward, while Gu Yue later struggles with pressure to resume the Soul Beasts’ original plans 163 177 188.

Mo Yuan monitors the Ferocious Beasts and threatens them with the Abyss Flower after Xiong Jun attempts to assert himself. This leaves Gu Yue caught between her own plans, Mo Yuan’s authority, and the Soul Beasts’ expectations 163 188.

Shrek’s Destruction and Reconstruction

Gu Yue learns that Mo Yuan deliberately activated Yuanen Yehui’s Demon Gate early to prevent her from repeating her mother’s fate. He used the resulting invasion to eliminate five demon monarchs, but the conflict also contributed heavily to Shrek Academy’s destruction 178.

Although Gu Yue openly approves of Shrek’s downfall, she accompanies Mo Yuan during his inspection of the academy’s reconstruction. She helps assess the Demon Plane’s coordinates and accepts his invitation to investigate it, partly because the journey may aid her recovery 177 180.

Demon Plane Expedition

Gu Yue assists Mo Yuan in using the Star of Eden to observe the Demon Plane. Together they locate Long Yeyue, who has survived but is severely injured and behaving through instinct rather than conscious control 180 181.

Gu Yue identifies Long Yeyue’s behavior as a likely result of Spirit Sea damage, drawing on her own experience with similar mental injury. Her analysis helps Mo Yuan and Chen Xinjie understand the danger of Long Yeyue’s condition 181 182.
