History
Legacy of the Sun Moon Empire
After the Sun Moon Empire fell, most of its direct royal descendants were absorbed into the Federation and placed under supervision. The Xu family retained substantial industry and influence, making its royal ancestry politically sensitive even within the federal system 24.
The Federation preserved an extensive Soul Tool industry, but Mo Yuan considered its high-end weapons research stagnant. He noted that academic researchers still studied the Sun Moon Empire’s ancient combined Soul Tool emplacements, while the Federation’s greatest strategic shells relied heavily on enormous resource expenditure 9.
Cooperation with Mo Yuan
Mo Yuan’s work on molecular reconstruction brought him into contact with the Federation’s research establishment and senior leadership. After a conflict with Xu Rongzhi, Chen Xinjie negotiated compensation on the Xu family’s behalf; Mo Yuan also demanded the withdrawal of its personnel from the Academy of Sciences 18 32.
During these negotiations, Mo Yuan argued that resource scarcity, environmental damage, and conflict between humans and Soul Beasts required expansion beyond Douluo Star. Chen Xinjie embraced this outlook and subsequently helped connect Mo Yuan with Parliament Chairman Fu Moxin 32 35.
Their cooperation expanded into materials production, fleet energy storage, and experimental power generation. Mo Yuan received an exceptional promotion to lieutenant general for his miniature spatial energy-storage core and became a special adviser to the Military Department 69 71 163.
Armory Theft and Shrek Crisis
Holy Spirit Cult infiltrator Meng Yongchang leaked information about the Federation’s new weapons to Ghost Emperor. Separately, a parliamentary assessment of tensions with the two overseas empires diverted military offices toward planning work and accelerated routine approvals and transport procedures 122 132.
After the attack on Shrek Academy, Fu Moxin publicly announced that an insider had enabled the theft of two new strategic Soul Tool weapons from a federal reserve depot. Sea God Island was devastated, the Golden Ancient Tree was destroyed, and Yun Ming was officially reported missing 160.
Fu Moxin placed the Federation on first-level combat readiness, ordered continent-wide action against the Holy Spirit Cult, and demanded a review of everyone authorized to manage federal armories. He accepted responsibility for the theft and announced his intention to resign and seek new parliamentary elections after the crisis 160.
Mo Yuan’s Election
By the election, Anti-Entropy’s influence extended across the Federation’s military, political, commercial, Soul Master, and blacksmithing circles. The Mecha Engineer Association also appointed Mo Yuan its president, strengthening his institutional support 190 224.
Mo Yuan won 442 of 473 votes and succeeded Fu Moxin as Parliament Speaker. His platform promised a Spaceflight Era; his inaugural declaration made planetary unification and education reform central federal policies 225 226.
Heaven Dou Campaign
Mo Yuan bypassed Parliament to convene senior military officers and prepare an immediate offensive. Planning covered troop movements, supplies, attack routes, and postwar administration rather than further debate over whether to wage war 229.
The Sea God Legion departed with Anti-Entropy’s logistical support. Heaven Dou’s leaders attempted limited resistance alongside negotiations, but Star Luo declined to make a firm joint-defense commitment 231 233.
Xue Yuntian ultimately signed a surrender agreement and ordered his forces to cease resistance. Federation troops secured ports, communications centers, armories, granaries, administrative offices, and the imperial capital. Yu Guanzhi divided Heaven Dou Continent into six provisional administrative regions, while leaving the response to Star Luo’s inaction to Mo Yuan 237.
Government and Institutions
| Institution | Function |
|---|---|
| Federal Parliament | Highest governing body, meeting in the Federation Building. Its chamber contains factional seating, speaking platforms, standing members’ seats, and the Speaker’s elevated seat 132. |
| Parliament Speaker | Office held by Fu Moxin before Mo Yuan’s election. Fu Moxin directed assessments and emergency measures; Mo Yuan used the office to announce planetary unification and spaceflight policies 132 160 225 226. |
| Military Department | Oversees military administration, central departments, independent forces in Mingdu, and hidden strategic arsenals 121. |
| Federation Academy of Sciences | Highest official research institute and a major technology supplier. Headquartered in Mingdu, with laboratories in other cities; its research generally follows government plans 17. |
| God of War Hall | Official federal military institution. Clearing all eighteen challenge levels can qualify a soldier for exceptional promotion to lieutenant general 62 224. |
| Economic Affairs Committee | Parliamentary body Fu Moxin considered convening over the Spirit Pagoda’s price increases 212. |
Political Factions and Constraints
- Hawk Faction — Advocates a forceful military posture; Yu Guanzhi identifies with it 224.
- Dove Faction — Receives Chen Xinjie’s private support despite his senior military position 32.
- Neutral Faction — Fu Moxin’s faction. He describes governing between the opposing camps as exhausting 224.
- Parliamentary debate — Members can enter the speaking queue electronically. Debate over overseas intervention leads Fu Moxin to order a three-week military assessment rather than immediate mobilization 132.
- Military family influence — Before Mo Yuan’s takeover, the legions operate as entrenched military-family interest groups despite their nominal federal status. The Yu family controls even the Central Legion 166.
- Centralization under Mo Yuan — His personal strength and institutional support allow him to bypass the factional balance and Parliament when preparing the unification war 229.
Armed Forces
Command Structure
- Chen Xinjie presides over the Military Department for decades and is described as the military’s foremost figure, a Limit Douluo and Four-Character Battle Armor master 32.
- General Staff Department, Armaments Department, and Logistics Planning Office handle operational planning, equipment, and logistical administration 121.
- Independent divisions in Mingdu answer directly to the Military Department, giving it forces separate from the major legions 121.
- Strategic arsenals contain large stocks of Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon Shells and high-powered Soul Tools, including three Level 12 Fixed Soul Tool Cannon Shells 121.
Major Formations
| Formation | Documented Role |
|---|---|
| Central Legion | Led by Yu Guanzhi; hosts advanced facilities and a special unit proposed for cooperation with Mo Yuan 62 166. |
| Sea God Legion | Federation’s strongest naval legion. Its main harbor, Sea God Harbor, lies on the western coast and serves as the departure point for the Heaven Dou expedition 231. |
| Blood God Legion | Defends against the Abyss Plane and tests Anti-Entropy’s new weapons and augmented soldiers in combat 106 116 121. |
| Western and Northwestern Legions | Required to support the Blood God Legion whenever necessary, without conditions 106. |
| Northern Legion | Operates detectors that identify Chronos during Mo Yuan’s journey toward the Devil Archipelago 167. |
- Expeditionary fleet: The Sea God Flagship, seven battleships of the same class, and more than one hundred escort, transport, and landing ships assemble for the Heaven Dou campaign 231.
- Anti-Entropy supply network: Anti-Entropy becomes the military’s leading supplier of rare metals, Fixed Soul Guidance Cannon Shells, Soul Guidance Cannons, and ray weapons 187.
- Airpower limitations: Before wider modernization, Soul Guidance Fighters remain in research and limited experimental deployment. The Federation has no large aircraft comparable to Chronos 166.
Technology and Industry
| Development | Chapter | Federal Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Molecular Reconstruction Soul Guidance Forging | 18 35 | Produces high-purity Star Silver from iron ore. Mo Yuan reports an initial workshop capacity of roughly 300 kilograms per day and projects that expansion could replace over 80% of domestic mining within three years. |
| Miniature Spatial Energy Storage Core | 35 42 69 | Intended to extend fleet endurance. Chen Xinjie confirms that its storage density and output stability surpass existing models; the technology earns Mo Yuan his lieutenant-general promotion. |
| Source Loop Reaction Array | 71 | Achieves stable, self-sustaining operation. The prototype can power a medium-sized urban district; Fu Moxin and Yu Guanzhi agree to pursue a pilot project. |
| Plane Isolation Cage Bomb | 96 121 | Cuts Abyss creatures off from their plane and suppresses spatial abilities. The Blood God Legion’s successful use prompts senior military review; Anti-Entropy supplies three additional bombs after the prototype. |
| Super Mutation Factor augmentation | 97 102 116 | A forty-soldier experimental group develops combat strength ranging from middle-to-late Soul Saint to early Soul Douluo, with exceptional strength and recovery. |
| Void Gravity Collapse Bomb proposal | 121 122 | Submitted to the Military Department by Anti-Entropy. Its potential combination with the Cage Bomb alarms the Holy Spirit Cult. |
| Agricultural modification | 187 | Anti-Entropy transforms ordinary crops into Plant-type Soul Beasts, substantially increasing yields and growth speed. |
| Satellite cooperation | 166 214 | Anti-Entropy cooperates with the Federation on satellites associated with the Star Dou Battle Net. Mo Yuan values the platform for training and future spaceflight applications. |
| Alternative Soul Spirit services | 213 | The Federation officially endorses Anti-Entropy’s compatible Soul Spirits and Soul Ascension Platform services, offered at half the Spirit Pagoda’s earlier prices. |
Policies Under Mo Yuan
Planetary Unification
- Objective: Incorporate the Tiandou/Heaven Dou and Star Luo empires into the Federation’s political system 226.
- Stated reasons: Secure resources, eliminate spending on inter-state confrontation, and prepare Douluo Star for external threats 226.
- Announced settlement terms: Preserve local cultures and nobles’ lawful property, while bringing institutions into alignment with federal systems 226.
- Heaven Dou surrender terms: Guarantee Xue Yuntian and his family’s safety, permit retention of imperial assets, and allow his descendants to take federal examinations and work in federal institutions 237.
Spaceflight and Education
- Spaceflight goal: Explore and develop other worlds rather than depend indefinitely on Douluo Star’s finite resources and deteriorating environment 226.
- Research priorities: Energy, materials, propulsion, communications, life support, and weapons suitable for space operations 226.
- Citizen participation: Enable ordinary Federation citizens—not only talented Soul Masters—to endure long-term stays beyond the planet 226.
- Education reform: Guarantee sufficient education until adulthood and broaden professional training beyond combat-focused Soul Masters, mecha pilots, and Soul Engineers 226.
External Relations
- Anti-Entropy — Principal technological partner and military supplier. Its founder’s election as Speaker places its industrial network at the center of federal power 187 190 225.
- Spirit Pagoda — An influential organization within the federal system that seeks diplomatic and military assistance for its overseas branches. The Federation later backs Anti-Entropy’s competing services 132 213.
- Shrek Academy — Holds substantial political connections, including Chen Xinjie’s private loyalty. The attack on its Inner Court and Sea God Island triggers a federal security emergency 32 101 160.
- Holy Spirit Cult — Hostile organization responsible for infiltration, weapons theft, and the Shrek attack; targeted by a continent-wide federal crackdown 122 160.
- Abyss Plane — Persistent external threat whose creatures’ revival and replenishment abilities consume enormous defensive resources 96 106.
- Tiandou/Heaven Dou Empire — Overseas rival conquered and reorganized into provisional federal administrative regions 228 237.
- Star Luo Empire — Rival targeted by the unification policy; its response remains unresolved after Heaven Dou’s surrender 226 237.
- Gu Yuena’s Ferocious Beasts — Initially remain hidden under orders to wait for federal weakness. Gu Yuena plans to exploit Mo Yuan’s attachment to Na’er against the Federation 163.
