Background
Tang Wulin is the adopted son of Tang Ziran and Lang Yue and the biological son of Tang San. Mo Yuan identified him from Aolai City household-registration records before meeting him, already knowing that Tang Wulin carried the sealed bloodline of the Golden Dragon King. 1 49 198
The Golden Dragon King placed his bloodline and remaining power into Tang San’s newborn son in an attempt to kill the child through the strain. Tang San sealed that power and sent Tang Wulin to Douluo Star to prevent the seal from prematurely breaking through the absorption of immortal spiritual energy. 49
Tang Ziran and Lang Yue found Tang Wulin as a baby on a snowy day. They knew his name but did not know his birth parents’ identities, and they raised him as their own son. Tang Wulin remained unaware of the adoption until Mo Yuan’s remarks about his inherited bloodline prompted him to question Tang Ziran. 198
On the day of his Martial Soul awakening, Tang Wulin left the Spirit Pagoda with his father and briefly passed Na’er at the entrance. He later enrolled in Red Mountain Academy’s Soul Master class, where Mo Yuan noticed his extreme hunger and unusual physique. 4 6
Mo Yuan offered him 10,000 Federation Coins per session to undergo physical and bloodline tests. Although initially alarmed by the proposal, Tang Wulin accepted because his family could not readily afford a Soul Spirit. 6 7 Over the next three years, he participated in experiments every half month, receiving tailored training alongside payment. 8
By the time he reached Level 10, Tang Wulin had earned roughly 700,000 Federation Coins but remained short of the one million needed for a Century Soul Spirit. Mo Yuan loaned him 250,000 Federation Coins and provided a cover story for Tang Ziran and Lang Yue. 8 9
He later moved his parents to Eastsea City. Through Anti-Entropy’s employee benefits and Mo Yuan’s approval, the family obtained a low-cost apartment, while Tang Ziran and Lang Yue received jobs at an Anti-Entropy subsidiary. 198
Personality
Tang Wulin is humble, hardworking, and deeply conscious of his modest background. He considers himself inferior to prodigies such as Gu Yuena because of his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, even while displaying strength far beyond ordinary peers. 43 79
Financial hardship strongly shapes his decisions. He accepted Mo Yuan’s experiments, pursued blacksmithing to repay his debt, and investigated Anti-Entropy’s contact number in search of further opportunities. 7 43 72
He is also compassionate and socially open. He shared his remaining snacks with Xu Lizhi without hesitation, forming a friendship through their mutual appetite. He later questioned whether Chen Qi had been excessively harsh toward Ye Xinglan, though he accepted Chen Qi’s reasoning. 76 78
“I’m just a Blue Silver Grass Soul Master. How could I possibly be good enough for her?” 43
Xu Xiaoyan regards him as normally cheerful, making his troubled demeanor during later training unusual. His frustration at falling behind Chen Qi and Xie Xie nevertheless makes him increasingly impatient for Mo Yuan’s assistance. 135 164 192 197
His attachment to his adoptive parents remains firm after learning the truth about his birth. Following a sleepless night, he concludes that Tang Ziran and Lang Yue are his real parents because they raised and loved him. When Mo Yuan describes his biological father as a criminal and traitor, Tang Wulin states that biological parentage would not compel him to support wrongdoing. 198 199
He places considerable trust in Mo Yuan, leaving his post-graduation plans to him and accepting the proposal to enter military service. His friendship with Xie Xie also includes mutual teasing: after receiving the Signal Axe, he deliberately lets Xie Xie criticize its appearance before revealing that it was Mo Yuan’s gift. 199 200
Appearance
Before his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, Tang Wulin had short black hair and fair skin, with some ruggedness acquired through forging. The awakening turned his hair blue with shimmering golden highlights and lengthened it to the middle of his back. His skin became fairer, his features softened, and he acquired a gentle, nature-like aura. Amber explained that such appearance changes were normal consequences of awakening a powerful bloodline. 201
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul
Tang Wulin’s Martial Soul initially manifests as Blue Silver Grass. He initially regards it as ordinary compared with the exceptional Martial Souls of his classmates. Mo Yuan later explains that it contains the dormant Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. 20 43 197
- Fused with the plant-type Golden Thread Vine as his first Soul Spirit. 20
- Uses his physical power alongside Blue Silver Grass in close combat. 79
- His Martial Soul is compatible with plant-type Soul Spirits. 20
- Uses Blue Silver Grass to intercept opponents and restrict their approach during sparring. 92
Blue Silver Emperor Bloodline
Tang Wulin inherited Blue Silver Emperor genetic material through Tang San’s bloodline. Mo Yuan discovered and archived it during his early examinations in Aolai City. Its dormant expression was associated with suppression by the Golden Dragon King’s power. 54
- The dormant genetic segments encode exceptional vitality and environmental adaptability. Mo Yuan used these properties as the basis for a carrier capable of integrating foreign genetic material into human cells with reduced rejection. 54
- Mo Yuan formulated a personalized Super Mutation Serum to make the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline dominant within Tang Wulin’s Martial Soul. Amber identified the resulting Martial Soul as a top-tier life-attribute Martial Soul highly compatible with his body. 199 200
- The injection was gentle and did not produce the pain Xie Xie had described from his own fusion. Tang Wulin experienced coolness followed by spreading warmth as his Soul Power circulation adjusted and stabilized. 200
- His vines became thicker and developed intricate golden patterns and faint golden halos along their leaves. Unlike the Golden Dragon King’s violent power, these patterns carried gentle, warm vitality. 200
- During the awakening, his vines nearly filled the injection room and pinned Xie Xie against the wall until Tang Wulin retracted them. 201
- The serum primarily awakened an existing bloodline and only secondarily provided certain Fusion Warrior-associated abilities. Mo Yuan explicitly distinguished the process from turning Tang Wulin into a conventional Fusion Warrior like Xie Xie or Chen Qi. 199
Golden Dragon King Bloodline
The Golden Dragon King’s bloodline is sealed within Tang Wulin and gradually transforms his body as energy leaks from the seal. 8 49
- His muscle development and bone density substantially exceed those of ordinary children. 8
- The bones in his hands began mutating toward a Soul Beast-like structure at age six, foreshadowing further dragon-like development. 8
- His right hand briefly glowed gold and became stronger after he fused with the Golden Thread Vine. 20
- Mo Yuan states that the seal also contains Tang San’s divine consciousness, capable of attacking three times. 50
- Mo Yuan could extract only a limited amount of purified Golden Dragon King blood without harming Tang Wulin’s origin. 8
- By the time Mo Yuan gave him the Signal Axe, his Golden Dragon Claw possessed a crushing property that could be transferred into the weapon’s charged attack. 199
Mo Yuan’s later preparations distinguish the Golden Dragon King bloodline and its seal from Tang San’s attached divine consciousness. He considers the latter the more difficult obstacle to further intervention. After awakening Tang Wulin’s Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, Mo Yuan still leaves the Golden Dragon King bloodline for a later stage of his plans. 197 201
Physical Strength
Tang Wulin possesses unusual raw strength due to his bloodline’s gradual bodily enhancement. 8
- Overpowered a one-ring spear user by knocking aside his weapon and unbalancing him in the Skysea Grand Competition. 79
- Served as Class Zero’s principal frontal attacker during team matches. 89
- Can still threaten Fusion Warrior Xie Xie in direct combat; Xie Xie relies on spatial movement to avoid being hit. 164
- Trains with a gravity-enhancement suit and drinks physique-strengthening spirit liquid supplied to Anti-Entropy’s internal personnel. 192
- After his Blue Silver Emperor awakening, a slap sent Xie Xie into the injection room’s glass wall during their horseplay. 201
Blacksmithing
Tang Wulin is a third-rank blacksmith and initially intended to use forging income to repay Mo Yuan’s loan. 45 72
- Began learning forging under Mang Tian while seeking ways to afford a Soul Spirit. 7
- Worked toward Spirit Refinement to improve his earning potential. 72
- Consulted his teacher Mu Chen after the Blacksmith Association’s buyback price for Thousand-Refined Metal collapsed. 72
- His repayment plan was undermined when Thousand-Refined Metal prices collapsed due to cheap supply from a Mingdu company. 72 73
- Continues forging despite low prices because he enjoys the craft. Anti-Entropy still purchases his forged metal, providing him with supplementary income. 201
Signal Axe
The Signal Axe is a Level-9 Soul Tool given to Tang Wulin by Mo Yuan after his graduation from Eastsea Academy. Mo Yuan chose an axe because its broad, sweeping attacks suit Tang Wulin’s strength and described it as one of his proudest works. 199
- Has a white body, purple blade, bulky Soul Tool assembly, vertically arranged red and green Soul Guidance Lamps, and a red button on its handle. Its appearance resembles a street traffic light. 199
- Pressing the red button begins charging and illuminates the red lamp. The green lamp indicates that charging is complete. 199
- Can absorb ambient energy or accept power directly from its wielder, storing and amplifying that energy for a powerful attack. 199 200
- Can retain some special properties of the supplied power, including the Golden Dragon Claw’s crushing property. 199
Relationships
- Mo Yuan — Classmate, researcher, lender, trainer, and Tang Wulin’s earliest close friend at Red Mountain Academy. Tang Wulin underwent Mo Yuan’s experiments for payment, received a 250,000-Federation-Coin loan, and continues to seek his help in becoming stronger. Mo Yuan later arranged benefits for his family, revealed the dormant Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, provided its awakening serum, and gave him the Signal Axe. Tang Wulin trusts him to arrange his post-graduation development. 6 8 9 164 198 199
- Tang Ziran — Adoptive father. Tang Ziran supported Tang Wulin’s purchase of a Century Soul Spirit and impressed upon him the need to repay Mo Yuan’s favor. He later revealed that he and Lang Yue had found Tang Wulin as a baby. Tang Wulin reaffirmed their bond and accompanied him to confront Tong Yu over the death of Tang Ziran’s mother. 9 20 198 243 247
- Lang Yue — Adoptive mother. She and Tang Ziran were initially concerned by the scale of Mo Yuan’s loan. She encouraged Tang Ziran to tell Tang Wulin the truth about his adoption and remained one of the two people Tang Wulin regarded as his real parents afterward. 1 9 198
- Tang San — Biological father and source of Tang Wulin’s inherited Blue Silver Emperor and Sea God bloodlines. He sealed the Golden Dragon King’s power within Tang Wulin and sent him to Douluo Star. Mo Yuan identifies him privately as Tang Wulin’s father, but in the later conversation with Tang Wulin describes the birth father as a criminal and traitor without naming him in the supplied account. Tang Wulin states that he would not excuse a biological father’s wrongdoing. 49 54 199
- Xie Xie — Class Zero teammate and close friend. They investigated Anti-Entropy together, trained together, and regularly compare their progress. Xie Xie supported Tang Wulin through his repeated unsuccessful requests for enhancement, encouraged him to question Tang Ziran, and accompanied him during the Blue Silver Emperor awakening. 43 44 92 164 198 200 201
- Gu Yue / Gu Yuena — Class Zero teammate whose attention makes Tang Wulin uneasy. He senses that she sometimes looks at him “as if she were looking at food”; Gu Yuena later recognizes his Golden Dragon King bloodline as central to restoring the Dragon God. She subsequently observes his Blue Silver Emperor awakening alongside Mo Yuan. 43 49 201
- Chen Qi — Class Zero teammate and fellow Anti-Entropy associate. Tang Wulin respects Chen Qi’s extraordinary growth but worries about his own inability to keep pace. 72 82 164
- Xu Lizhi — Friend met at the Skysea Grand Competition after Tang Wulin shared his snacks. 76
- Xu Xiaoyan — Class Zero teammate. Tang Wulin welcomed her into the training group and later learned from her about the Holy Spirit Cult’s attack on Shrek Academy. She considers him normally cheerful. 135 164 192
- Amber — Anti-Entropy administrator who assessed his suitability for experimentation and administered his personalized Blue Silver Emperor awakening serum. She deducted 200 contribution points from both him and Xie Xie for horseplay after the procedure. 56 200 201
- Wu Zhangkong — Teacher at Eastsea Academy who supervised his training, advised caution before the Anti-Entropy visit, and assigned him the principal frontal-attacker role during the Skysea Grand Competition. 44 72 89
- Tong Yu — Qilin Douluo and the man responsible for the accidental killing of Tang Ziran’s mother, Su Yue. Tang Wulin was assigned to help bring him back and later attended the confrontation between Tong Yu and his adoptive father. 243 247
- Zang Xin — Leader of the mission involving Tang Wulin’s family and Tong Yu. He facilitated the family’s meeting with Tong Yu after the latter’s capture. 243 247
Story Role / Major Arcs
Mo Yuan’s Research Subject
Tang Wulin becomes Mo Yuan’s first major long-term research subject after Mo Yuan detects his abnormal physique. The resulting studies reveal the Golden Dragon King bloodline’s gradual effects on his muscles, bones, hands, and future development. 7 8
The examinations also yield dormant Blue Silver Emperor genetic material. Its vitality and adaptability later become important to Mo Yuan’s development of Super Mutation Serum, extending Tang Wulin’s significance beyond the Golden Dragon King blood samples alone. 54
First Soul Spirit
Using his savings and Mo Yuan’s loan, Tang Wulin purchases and successfully fuses with the Golden Thread Vine. The fusion marks his first major step as a Soul Master and produces an unexplained strengthening effect in his right hand. 20
Anti-Entropy Recruitment
Still burdened by debt, Tang Wulin joins Xie Xie and Gu Yue in investigating Anti-Entropy Technology’s mysterious contact number. At the Eastsea City First Laboratory, A-01 reveals that Anti-Entropy knows of his debt to Mo Yuan and invites him to participate in its project rather than repay the debt conventionally. 43 44 45
Amber subsequently includes him among seven screened experimental candidates. His two-ring cultivation, forging skills, Golden Dragon King bloodline, proximity, and extensive prior research records earn him an A comprehensive assessment. 56
Class Zero and the Skysea Grand Competition
Tang Wulin joins Class Zero with Xie Xie, Gu Yuena, and Chen Qi. He wins his opening individual match through superior strength and acts as the team’s main attacker during the group competition, helping Class Zero claim the championship. 72 79 89
He finishes sixth in the individual event. Following Class Zero’s unprecedented results, Dean Yu Zhen doubles the members’ scholarships and promises additional cultivation resources. 89
Struggle to Catch Up
Anti-Entropy’s industrial expansion collapses the market for Thousand-Refined Metal, leaving Tang Wulin unable to repay Mo Yuan through blacksmithing. As Chen Qi and Xie Xie become increasingly powerful, Tang Wulin repeatedly asks Mo Yuan to strengthen him but is told that the time is not right. 72 73 164
His frustration deepens after Xie Xie’s transformation, as spatial movement prevents Tang Wulin from landing blows despite his formidable strength. He suspects that Mo Yuan’s refusal is related to the incomplete release of his Golden Dragon King bloodline. 135 164
After further training with Anti-Entropy equipment and spirit liquid, Mo Yuan finally tells him to visit Anti-Entropy after his final examinations. 192 193
Adoption Revelation
When Tang Wulin arrives expecting a discussion about becoming a Fusion Warrior, Mo Yuan instead explains that the Golden Dragon King’s power is not the only unusual inheritance within him. He identifies the dormant Blue Silver Emperor bloodline and directs Tang Wulin to ask his father about his family’s secrets. 197
With Xie Xie’s encouragement, Tang Wulin questions Tang Ziran and learns that he was adopted. Although shaken and unable to sleep that night, he accepts Tang Ziran and Lang Yue as his real parents and decides to ask Mo Yuan about his birth family. 198
Mo Yuan warns that his biological father is, from the perspective of the Federation and Douluo Star, a criminal and traitor. Tang Wulin answers that he would repay the debt of being given life without allowing biological ties to justify wrongdoing, drawing upon the values taught at Red Mountain Academy. Mo Yuan approves of his resolve. 199
Blue Silver Emperor Awakening
After their conversation, Mo Yuan gives Tang Wulin a specially prepared serum intended to awaken his existing Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. He clarifies that this is fundamentally different from the conventional Fusion Warrior process. Tang Wulin also receives the Signal Axe and agrees to Mo Yuan’s proposed military training rather than attending an advanced Soul Master academy. 199
Xie Xie accompanies him to the laboratory, where Amber verifies his identity, explains the serum’s purpose, and administers it. His Blue Silver Grass thickens and develops golden patterns imbued with vitality. Within roughly fifteen minutes, the awakening is complete, leaving the room crowded with vines and changing his hair and facial appearance. 200 201
Afterward, Mo Yuan confirms his intention to send Tang Wulin and Xie Xie to the Blood God Legion for training. Further intervention involving the Golden Dragon King bloodline remains deferred. 201
Tong Yu Mission and Family Reckoning
Mo Yuan later assigns Tang Wulin to bring Qilin Douluo Tong Yu back from the Star Luo Empire. Because Tong Yu’s past involves Tang Ziran’s mother, Mo Yuan includes Tang Ziran and Lang Yue in the mission and appoints Zang Xin to lead it. Tang Wulin learns that Tong Yu had a romantic relationship with his adoptive grandmother and accidentally killed her during a conflict before spending decades imprisoned at Monster Academy. 243
After Tong Yu is captured, Tang Wulin accompanies his parents into the compartment where he is restrained. Tang Ziran identifies his mother as Su Yue and confronts Tong Yu. During their exchange, Tang Wulin urgently protests that his father need not make the arrangement under discussion for his sake, insisting that he can do well without Tong Yu. Tang Ziran reassures him, and the family leaves after the conversation, with Tang Ziran feeling relieved of his longstanding burden. 246 247
Trivia
- Tang Wulin’s hidden experimental earnings were explained to his parents as money loaned by Mo Yuan because of Tang Wulin’s blacksmithing potential. 8 9
- Mo Yuan’s metal-production expansion inadvertently worsened Tang Wulin’s debt situation by helping depress rare-metal prices. 72 73
- His Golden Dragon King blood was later used in diluted form as part of Xie Xie’s successful Space-Time Dragon mutation serum. 119
- His dormant Blue Silver Emperor genes also supplied the vitality-and-adaptability model used in Mo Yuan’s Super Mutation Factor carrier research. 54
- Xie Xie initially dismissed the Signal Axe as flashy and impractical before learning that Mo Yuan had made it and that it was a Level-9 Soul Tool. 200
- His Blue Silver Emperor awakening nearly crushed Xie Xie beneath the expanding vines; Xie Xie avoided being flattened by hiding in a Spatial Interlayer. 201
- Amber deducted 200 contribution points from each of them after their post-awakening horseplay. Tang Wulin was relatively unconcerned because forging still provided him with supplementary income. 201
