Background

Xiao Wu attended Nouding Academy, where her quick temper and strength established her as “Sister Xiao Wu” among the work-study students. She regularly sparred with Lin Tian but could not last three exchanges against him, even with her exceptionally fast kicks. 7

She became close to both Lin Tian and Tang San. During the academy break, she chose to accompany Lin Tian to Bamboo Ridge rather than return with Tang San to Holy Soul Village, having grown wary after Lin Tian suggested that Tang San’s father might be the Clear Sky Douluo. 12 13 She later became sworn siblings with them: Tang San was named eldest brother, Lin Tian second brother, and Xiao Wu third sister. 14

Lin Tian’s apparent death in a cliff fall devastated her. After Tang San examined the body and found shattered bones and ruptured organs, Xiao Wu suspected that Tang Hao had arranged the murder because of her identity as a Transformed Soul Beast. 16 17

She grew up in the Star Dou Great Forest, making the prospect of visiting Lin Tian’s mountain home especially appealing. At that time, she regarded Lin Tian and Tang San as good friends rather than romantic partners. She also possesses Innate Full Soul Power. 12 17

Her mother is dead. Lin Yuan uses the possibility of reviving her mother after attaining godhood as part of his attempt to persuade Xiao Wu to sacrifice herself, but Xiao Wu refuses to trust that promise. 72 75

As a child, Xiao Wu had a fair, rosy face, large watery eyes, and a scorpion braid that hung past her hips. 7 By the time she reunited with Lin Yuan years later, she stood around 1.7 meters tall. 45

Xiao Wu is outspoken, playful, and confrontational. Her loyalty is intense. Lin Tian’s death leaves her grief-stricken, and she remains deeply concerned for Lin Yuan’s family even when she believes she is about to be killed. 16 74 She considers love sacred and rejects Chang Gong Miao for pursuing several women at once. 63

After learning that numerous factions covet her Soul Ring and Soul Bone, Xiao Wu becomes distrustful and defiant. Even while restrained and threatened with death, she refuses to sacrifice herself to Lin Yuan. 72 75

Her resentment does not erase her concern for her companions. Despite the distrust caused by Lin Tian’s death, Lin Yuan’s disappearance, and the interference of other students, she prevents the Titan Giant Ape from killing the Shrek group and returns after forming her third ring to check on Tang San’s injuries. 64 73

Her refusal to sacrifice herself is not based on dismissing Lin Yuan’s potential. She acknowledges that his strength against Xuan Jian makes him a plausible candidate for godhood, but still rejects his demand. 73

Xiao Wu initially reacts with embarrassment and anger when Lin Yuan calls her Lin Tian’s “sister-in-law.” 8 Although she rejects the implication, Lin Tian’s interest in her is apparent, and their growing closeness becomes a source of tension with Tang San. 8 12

Her decision to visit Bamboo Ridge with Lin Tian places him directly in Tang Hao’s path. Lin Tian is killed shortly afterward, leaving Xiao Wu bereaved and increasingly suspicious of Tang Hao. 13 15 17

Before his body is discovered, Xiao Wu searches Bamboo Ridge’s hill and then accompanies the village chief to Notting City to see whether Lin Tian has returned there. After the funeral, Tang San’s comfort helps her recover some of her usual liveliness, but his account of Lin Tian’s injuries renews her fear that Tang Hao was responsible. 15 17

Reunion in Suotuo City

Years later, Xiao Wu recognizes Lin Yuan despite his transformed physique and appearance. She approaches him enthusiastically and questions where he has been, but he claims to be someone named “Ling Yuan” and leaves her uncertain whether she was mistaken. 44 45

She subsequently enters Shrek Academy as a level-29 Soul Grandmaster with two yellow soul rings. 47

Competition over Her Soul Ring and Soul Bone

Xiao Wu’s concealed identity becomes known to powerful figures around Shrek. Tang Lie demands that Tang Hao hand her over, but Tang Hao refuses and intimidates him into retreat. 52

Information about a hundred-thousand-year Transformed Soul Beast subsequently reaches the major sects. Ning Fengzhi identifies Yu Luomian as the likely source of the intelligence. Sword Douluo volunteers to capture Xiao Wu as a future eighth soul ring for Long Aotian, while Tang Xiao sends two Titled Douluo and three rank-89 Soul Douluo from the Clear Sky Sect to seize her. 55

The Clear Sky Sect’s expedition is ambushed by Spirit Hall, leaving four elders dead and Tang Lie severely wounded. Xiao Wu does not witness this conflict, but the contest over her power contributes to escalating hostility among the factions. 58 84

Star Dou Great Forest Incident

Xiao Wu conceals her level-30 breakthrough to protect her identity. When the Titan Giant Ape attacks, she prevents it from killing the Shrek group before it takes her away. 64

After reaching level 31 and obtaining her third soul ring, she returns toward Tang San and walks into Xuan Jian’s trap. The Counterfeit Six Sword Slaves capture her, but Lin Yuan frees her while escaping from Xuan Jian. 67 70

Her return is motivated by concern for Tang San, who injured himself while trying to rescue her from Er Ming. Although she uses Teleportation and her knowledge of the forest to flee the ambush, the coordinated high-level pursuers overwhelm her. 73

Captivity and Disappearance

Lin Yuan restrains Xiao Wu and demands that she sacrifice herself to become his fifth soul ring. She refuses, accusing him of killing Lin Tian and destroying Lin Yuan’s family. 72 73

During their confrontation, Lin Yuan claims that Tang Hao killed Lin Tian because Lin Tian’s closeness with Xiao Wu threatened Tang Hao’s plans for Tang San. He also confirms that Lin Tian’s family has moved away safely. 73 74

Unable to make herself sacrifice, Xiao Wu prepares to die rather than surrender her Soul Ring. Lin Yuan instead releases her, restores her Soul Power, gives her a Golden Lightning Bamboo branch, and sends her into hiding. 75

His instructions include changing her appearance and identity, removing her recognizable rabbit-ear ornaments, avoiding Shrek and Er Ming, and not seeking revenge against her mother’s killer. She leaves in a direction away from Heaven Dou City, Spirit Hall, and Star Luo City, while Lin Yuan follows until she is outside the forest. Her eventual hiding place is not revealed. 75

Failed Search and False Reports of Death

Tang San and the remaining group spend ten days searching the Star Dou Great Forest without finding Xiao Wu. Tang Hao also searches secretly, covering nearly half the forest and locating the Titan Giant Ape, but fails to discover her whereabouts. Ning Rongrong eventually refuses to continue the coerced search. 76

Zhao Wuji assumes Xiao Wu is already dead. Tang Hao then tells Tang San that the Titan Giant Ape killed her, using his son’s grief to encourage cultivation and revenge. This account is false: Xiao Wu had already been released alive by Lin Yuan. 75 78 80

At Shrek Academy, Yu Tianlong reveals that Xiao Wu is a Transformed Soul Beast and that Tang Lie’s expedition sought her Soul Ring and Soul Bone. Tang San briefly hopes that her connection to the Titan Giant Ape might mean she survived, but Tang Hao insists that the ape devoured her. Learning of Tang Lie’s intentions causes Tang San to sever his familial relationship with Tang Weiwei. 84

Xiao Wu remains absent from the later Shrek roster. Tang San’s emotional attachment gradually loosens, and Tang Weiwei eventually becomes his inseparable romantic companion, occupying the role Xiao Wu held beside him in the original story. 109 115

Continued Use in Transmigrator Schemes

Xiao Wu’s disappearance remains part of the information manipulated by rival transmigrators. Xuan Jian uses Lin Yuan’s taking of Xiao Wu and Tang San’s External Soul Bone as elements of a deceptive account designed to recruit Zhang Qing into an alliance against him.
