"I could only see that there was something discordant about your fate. I saw nothing else. You should know that I'm not a true Seer." Mr. Azik smiled gently, shook his head, and said,
"But I think you may need to be careful for a while. If another coincidence occurs, it might mean that some existence is interfering with your fate."
"I understand. Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Azik." Klein nodded solemnly, then could not help asking curiously, "Is this your ability, Mr. Azik? Could you be a Beyonder of the Path of Destiny?"
Klein could not help thinking of the Sequence "Monster" Old Neil had once mentioned.
"I'm probably not a Beyonder of the Path of Destiny. In fact, I'm not sure which Pathway I belong to..." Mr. Azik shook his head. His gaze lingered somewhat mournfully on the surface of the Hoy River, then he began telling his story at an unhurried pace.
He had no past, no parents, and no memory of what kind of existence he had once been. He only occasionally dreamed dreams whose truth or falsehood he could not determine.
As for the Beyonder abilities he possessed, Mr. Azik had gradually discovered them during his university years. Yet he had few memories concerning them and did not know exactly what abilities he had. He could only rely on instinct to use a small portion of them.
"That is also why I wanted to speak with you, Klein. I hope you can help me find clues about my origins. You don't need to make a special effort; just remember them if you happen to encounter anything." After recounting his past, Mr. Azik looked at Klein and made the request earnestly.
Klein had not expected to hear such a story. However, his experience as a transmigrator made him feel somewhat sympathetic toward Mr. Azik. He let out a breath, then asked with some confusion, "Mr. Azik, why don't you enter Beyonder circles yourself and search for your past? And besides..."
Klein glanced at Luo Lin, who was watching the drama unfold beside them, and said, "Why me?"
What he meant was, wasn't Luo Lin also close to him? Why not ask him to do it?
Hearing Klein's words, Mr. Azik gave a self-deprecating smile and explained why he was unwilling to personally involve himself in Beyonder circles: he feared danger, feared death, had grown accustomed to his current life, and did not wish to take risks.
Of course, that did not mean Mr. Azik wanted Klein to take risks for him. In fact, if Klein himself had not already been part of Beyonder circles, he would not have forced this matter upon him. Even now, though he hoped Klein would help him seek out his past, Mr. Azik did not expect Klein to risk himself. He only hoped that if Klein encountered anything related to him, he would make a note of it in passing.
"As for Jack..." Mr. Azik glanced at Luo Lin, thought for a moment, and said tactfully, "His personality is not quite suited to this sort of matter."
Klein fell silent. He too looked toward Luo Lin, then nodded thoughtfully a few seconds later. "Indeed."
Now it was Luo Lin's turn to be dissatisfied. He looked at Mr. Azik, then at Klein, and shouted, "Hey, what do you mean by that? Am I stupid?" Of course, he was acting.
"Ahem, we didn't mean that. It's just that your personality is rather innocent, and we're afraid you might get taken advantage of..." Klein coughed lightly and explained.
"Jack, I simply think you may not be very skilled at this sort of thing," Mr. Azik said gently.
"That's stereotyping!" Luo Lin shot them an angry glare. Then, as though he had thought of something, he planted his hands on his hips and said, "And who says I can't help? Whether it's Klein's discordant fate or your past, Mr. Azik, I have a way."
"What way?" Klein was genuinely a little curious.
"I can write to my teacher." Luo Lin revealed a smug grin. "My teacher is amazing. He'll definitely have a way."
Klein: ...
Mr. Azik: ...
What could they say? As expected of him!
"You have a teacher?" After voicing that complaint inwardly, Klein suddenly realized something and looked at Luo Lin in surprise.
"Of course I have a teacher. Did you think I taught myself?" Luo Lin instead gave Klein a puzzled look, as if he did not understand what there was to be surprised about.
Right, why did I think Jack didn't have a teacher... Klein fell silent. A few seconds later, he asked, "Who is your teacher?"
"Lucifer Soroyastor..." Luo Lin answered as though without even thinking. Only after answering did he seem to recall something, raising a hand to cover his mouth. "No, my teacher seems to have said I can't tell people his full name..." He then looked at Klein and Mr. Azik tentatively. "How about you just pretend you didn't hear that?"
"Having you as a student is truly his blessing." Klein did not know what to say for a moment. After holding it in for ages, that was all he could manage.
Mr. Azik, meanwhile, raised a hand and rubbed his brow. As though he had recalled something, he said, "Marauder?"
At this point, Klein naturally also recalled the contents of the Transmigration Diary he had read above the gray fog a few days ago. The very familiar name Lucifer paired with the familiar surname Soroyastor inevitably gave rise to certain guesses in Klein's heart.
Could Jack's teacher be that transmigrator who had run into Amon?
What Klein did not know was that while he was thinking, Luo Lin was also observing his expression. Luo Lin's ability to read people had already been maxed out, and after being enhanced by the Troublemaker potion's abilities, his powers of observation had naturally become even more outstanding. He quickly got the result he wanted—apparently, Klein had indeed not divined that he was the one who wrote the Transmigration Diary.
So the Nyarlathotep fragment really could interfere with Source Castle?
Luo Lin reached a conclusion inwardly, but outwardly continued maintaining his persona. Seeing their reactions, he immediately said in dissatisfaction, "I only blurted it out because I trusted you two. I'm not like this in front of other people."
Klein and Mr. Azik did not know whether they believed him. They exchanged a glance, and Mr. Azik spoke first. "Thank you for your goodwill, Jack, but for the time being, I don't want more people to know about this."
Although Mr. Azik trusted Luo Lin, he was naturally still wary of Luo Lin's teacher.
"Things probably haven't reached the point where I need you to write to your teacher yet, Jack." Klein also declined tactfully.
"Fine, fine. I know you don't trust my teacher, so forget it." Luo Lin pursed his lips, seemingly a little dejected, but quickly perked up again. "Actually, even without writing to my teacher, it's not like I can't help you, Mr. Azik."
"How do you intend to help me?" This time, Mr. Azik did not directly refuse, instead asking gently.
"My teacher once gave me a special gemstone. After using it, it can summon projections of people from the past. Since you want to know about your past, Mr. Azik, why not summon someone related to you and ask them?" Luo Lin casually dropped a massive bombshell.
