Identity

Zhou Mingrui arrives in the world after the original Klein Moretti dies in the Antigonus Notebook's black-divination incident. He initially continues living under Klein's identity, unable to explain either his transmigration or resurrection. 7 285

His identity becomes more complicated because he absorbs part of Klein Moretti's emotions and memories. He genuinely loves Benson and Melissa as family, yet knows that he is neither wholly Zhou Mingrui nor the original Klein. 284 286

After confessing the truth to the Moretti siblings, Zhou attends Klein Moretti's funeral as Gehrman Sparrow and resolves to stop treating “Klein Moretti” as his own identity. 287 288 Luo Lin later summons the original Klein from the past; the two become friends and family, with the revived original taking the name Big Klein and Zhou accepting Little Klein. 291 292

Background

Tingen and the Tarot Club

Soon after transmigrating, Klein enters the mysterious space above the gray fog, adopts the title The Fool, and establishes the Tarot Club with two initial members. He must simultaneously maintain a godlike persona, investigate the black-divination case surrounding the original Klein, and avoid attracting the attention of official Beyonders. 7

He meets Luo Lin under the alias Jack Jones at Tingen University. Their shared interest in the Antigonus family develops into a teacher-student friendship: Luo Lin teaches Klein about Beyonder characteristics, adjacent pathways, and the Acting method, while Klein secures Jack an official informant identity to protect him from being treated as an illegal Beyonder. 10 24 25 29

Klein also forms a close bond with Azik. Azik gives him a copper whistle to summon his Messenger and later trusts him with investigating his lost past and his son's stolen skull. 33 62

Choice, Backlund, and Revolution

Luo Lin reveals that Klein's original fate would make him a key candidate to replace Celestial Worthy during an apocalypse expected in roughly ten years. Rather than force him into that role, Luo Lin gives Klein the choice to accept or reject the path. 88

Klein chooses to continue advancing without committing himself to becoming the savior. He leaves the Nighthawks on a three-year absence, uses the identity Sherlock Moriarty in Backlund, and lives alongside Luo Lin and Medici. 90 91 100

When Klein learns that Luo Lin's harmless, naive “Jack” persona concealed a calculating con artist, he is initially shaken but ultimately chooses to trust their friendship. 117 118 He later assists Medici's reform movement by impersonating the Red Angel, using the role to digest his Faceless potion and gain practical experience in revolutionary administration. 251 275 370

Five Seas Journey

As Little Klein, he travels to the Five Seas to complete his Marionettist ritual. Luo Lin and Little Amon accompany him, while Cattleya helps locate mermaids. 370 409 410

After advancing, Little Klein continues developing as a Marionettist. With Luo Lin's preparation and support, he converts the Sequence 3 Sea Serpent Kavitua into a Demigod marionette, greatly increasing his combat potential. 435 443

Personality

Klein is cautious, observant, and highly conscious of risk. His first instinct around potential fellow transmigrators, powerful entities, and secret organizations is to conceal his position until he has enough information to judge them safely. 10 53

He is also deeply empathetic. He avoids involving Benson and Melissa in the extraordinary world, accepts responsibility for the pain caused by living as Klein Moretti, and ultimately tells them the truth despite fearing the consequences. 91 285 286

Unlike Luo Lin, Klein is reluctant to sacrifice others for a greater goal. He describes himself as acting within his capabilities, but Luo Lin recognizes an unusually altruistic streak in him. 157 This morality also informs his use of Creeping Hunger: he only intends to shepherd people he considers genuinely deserving of it. 161
