Treasure Hidden in Stone

Baimu parted ways with Sableye.

He returned to the cave behind the waterfall.

First, he examined the black cube. Its surface was pitted in several places, clearly from where the hungry Sableye had tried to gnaw on it.

But it was hard enough that Sableye's jaws hadn't managed to break it open.

He turned it over and inspected all six sides. There wasn't a single opening. Every edge fit so perfectly that it looked like a solid piece cut by a machine.

"A block of metal? Ancient technology? Some modern industrial product?"

He studied the black box curiously. It had a surprising heft to it, as though it were solid inside.

So what exactly was it?

"Maybe Laisa can tell me." Baimu thought of the Devon Corporation researcher he'd met while selling the Leaf Stone. Someone as knowledgeable as her might recognize it.

Then he took out the black rock Sableye had handed him before they parted. It was also large and heavy, with an irregular, elongated shape.

Was there some kind of crystal or gemstone inside this one too?

Given Sableye's habits and diet, she probably wouldn't have kept an ordinary rock in her nest.

"Want to grind it down and take a look?"

Baimu handed the rock to Aggron. "Last time, you turned up four million for us. Maybe this time we'll make even more. Then we'll be rich!"

He put on an encouraging tone.

At the mention of getting rich, Mawile's eyes lit up too. The last time their trainer had said that, he'd taken her shopping for an entire day.

"Chi-do! Chi-do!"

She patted Aggron's leg with a smile that said she was leaving it all to him.

"Grr..."

The Big Monster felt the weight of their expectations. This wasn't even his specialty. Fighting was his
