Background and History

Robin passed the archaeologist examination and learned to read ancient script at eight. After the World Government destroyed Ohara, killing her mother and its scholars, former Marine Vice Admiral Saul helped her escape. She was blamed for the destruction of six Marine warships and given a 79-million-Berry bounty. Families and groups that later sheltered her repeatedly betrayed her or tried to claim the reward 56.

At eleven, Robin fled CP9 into a harbor skewer stall and hid beneath Saint Sanming’s table. He concealed her from Spandine, gave her food and tea, and stayed until she could leave safely. Robin later remembered falling asleep against his leg: the space beneath the table had felt safer than anywhere else she had found since Ohara 20 21 155.

Years later in Alabasta, Robin joined Baroque’s group to obtain Poneglyph rubbings. Believing Sanming had treated Ohara’s destruction as entertainment and falsely accused her of theft, she restrained him with Seastone handcuffs. She secretly unlocked them before escaping the group to pursue the rubbings herself 145 147 150.

Robin then accepted Sanming’s invitation to Jaya despite recognizing a possible CP9 trap. She questioned his motives and initially rejected the Pluton rubbings he offered her. After Spandine escaped her attempt at revenge, she decided that vengeance was not what she truly wanted. She and Sanming explored Shandian ruins together, but Admiral Aokiji pursued her. Following Sanming’s day-long battle with Aokiji, an official order revoked her bounty 152 155 159 160 167.

Robin has black hair and dark, expressive eyes. Her appearance changes between the documented encounters 20 56 145.

• At eleven, she carried a tattered backpack and held a large book against her chest while fleeing through Vasa Port 20.
• At sixteen, she wore a leather vest, skirt, and wide-brimmed hat during the Alabasta confrontation 145.
• On Jaya, she lowered her hat brim to conceal her face while reading in a tavern 154.

Personality

Robin is vigilant and difficult to deceive. Years of pursuit have taught her to abandon a place as soon as she senses danger; on Jaya, she detected Sanming before he entered the tavern and challenged his account of CP9’s operation. She wants affection but fears that trusting it will lead to another betrayal 93 154 155.

Archaeology remains a source of purpose and pleasure for her. She eagerly investigates Shandian records, sketches a Guide Bird, and deciphers ruins even amid danger. She can also be quietly playful, teasing Sanming during their expedition and exploiting Perona’s fear of cockroaches to stop her attack 158 160 181.
