Background

Enslavement in Mary Geoise

Hancock was captured from Amazon Lily alongside her younger sisters, Sandersonia and Marigold. The three were the only Amazon Lily slaves captured in the previous twenty years; by the time Miming found them, Hancock was unconscious and her sisters had been severely abused. 11

Her scars, captivity, and repeated mistreatment left her without any desire to live. When the sisters began a hunger strike, Hancock initially begged Miming to let them die rather than continue as slaves. She only accepted food after he appealed to her responsibility for Sandersonia and Marigold and promised to free them one day. 22

As the sisters began living and working under Miming’s protection, their renewed smiles gave Hancock hope that they might someday escape Mary Geoise. 23

The Devil Fruit Arena

Shalria forced the Boa Sisters into an arena game involving the Love-Love Fruit, the Anaconda Fruit, and the King Cobra Fruit. Hancock refused to let either sister sacrifice herself for her, but Sandersonia and Marigold chose the Snake-Snake Fruits so that Hancock would be compelled to take the Love-Love Fruit and retain a chance of survival. 28 29 30

The Love-Love Fruit restored Hancock’s scarred face and awakened her petrification power. Unable to control it, she turned Sandersonia, Marigold, and numerous spectators—including several Celestial Dragons—to stone. 30

Trust in Miming

Believing that only her death could restore her sisters, Hancock asked Miming to kill her. He instead exposed himself to her petrification, using pain to resist it and proving that he trusted her; with his guidance, Hancock discovered that she could undo the effect herself. 32

Miming’s actions convinced Hancock that his promises were sincere. She fell deeply in love with him and became fiercely devoted to remaining at his side despite their status as master and slave. 32 37

Training and Arena Battles

To conceal her identity and suppress accidental petrification, Hancock was made to wear a spiked Seastone helmet and heavy armor. She trained with Miming and Cairns while learning to control both her Devil Fruit and Haki. 35 37 38

As one of the Gorgon Sisters, Hancock entered Mary Geoise’s slave arena under Saint Sanming’s ownership. The sisters won ten consecutive matches before being placed in a life-or-death battle against Captain Dais, Gild Tesoro, and Snowman Butcher Machvise. 45 46

The sisters subsequently fought alongside Dais as an almost unbeatable gladiatorial team. Their victories brought the Bird Family continuing arena profits. 56

Escape from Mary Geoise

During the planned slave liberation, Hancock was assigned to free the arena’s gladiators while Sandersonia and Marigold helped the Revolutionary Army liberate slave pens near Pangaea Castle. Saint Ni and Rosward exploited Miming’s absence to enter his palace with CP0 agents, where Hancock confronted the giant Morley, who had been forced to fight for the sake of captive companions. 61 62

Morley’s ability softened the ground beneath Hancock, but she escaped by petrifying it into a foothold. During the fighting, she also used Captive Arrow to stop a CP0 agent pursuing Tesoro. A stronger CP0 agent later injured and restrained her with Seastone handcuffs, and Saint Ni exposed the slave brand on her back. 62 63 64

Hancock escaped Mary Geoise with the others. Rayleigh promised Miming that he would escort her group back to Amazon Lily. Before they parted, Miming urged Hancock to train and awaken Life Return; she promised to wait for him and work hard every day until his return. 71

Appearance

Hancock was originally a black-haired young girl whose face was scarred during slavery. The Love-Love Fruit removed those scars and heightened her already extraordinary beauty, though she often concealed herself beneath a sealed helmet and armor in Mary Geoise. 11 30 35

Her strongest loyalty is to Sandersonia and Marigold. She repeatedly refuses to let either sister bear a sacrifice alone, protects them in the arena, and is willing to die when she believes it is the only way to restore them. 29 32

After gaining confidence in her abilities, Hancock becomes dramatically more arrogant and theatrical in battle, proudly calling herself the “snake princess.” Her confidence does not erase her devotion to Miming, whom she views as the person who gave her hope and proved his commitment through action. 37 48

Hancock refuses gifts from others because of that devotion and becomes jealous when Miming expresses concern for Nico Robin. After gaining her freedom, she remains distressed at the prospect of being apart from Miming but promises to wait for him on Amazon Lily. 46 56 71
