Uchiha Tenjo walked into the Security Force headquarters. The Uchiha working in the building greeted him respectfully.
"Clan Head."
"Clan Head, you haven't been by in days. Everyone's missed you."
"Haha, if you miss me, come visit me at home. How has Fugaku been doing these past few days? He hasn't caused you veterans any trouble, has he?"
"You're joking, Clan Head. The Security Force has been even better organized under Fugaku."
Uchiha Tenjo could not stop smiling. "He'll still need plenty of guidance from veterans like you."
After saying goodbye to the others, he entered Fugaku's office.
Fugaku had been staring absently at the people outside the window. When he saw Uchiha Tenjo come in, a smile appeared on his face.
"Father, what brings you to the Security Force today?"
"I've just reported everything to the Hokage. After I step down, he'll hold a Jonin Meeting and recommend me for a position as a Konoha Elder."
"How likely do you think it is to pass, Father? Will the leadership try to interfere?"
Uchiha Tenjo considered this. "It has a good chance. Most power struggles in Konoha happen behind the scenes. They're rarely brought into the open.
"In public, the great families and the leadership generally maintain a united front.
"The Hokage previously raised the matter of applying for an Elder position. Among Konoha's Great Families, I'm the first to do so, and I have the strongest qualifications.
"If my application fails, the Hokage will be slapping himself in the face. His standing in Konoha will suffer too.
"That would only make the other families more hesitant to apply for Elder positions."
Fugaku nodded. "If applications from the other clan heads pass while yours fails, I'll demand an explanation from the Konoha leadership."
Uchiha Tenjo smiled. "Don't be too impulsive.
