Youcheng Special Administration Bureau, Special Detention Cell.
Time: 3:47 a.m. The moment when human will was at its weakest.
On the surveillance screen, Scarface King's vital-sign curves had been fluctuating steadily—until this moment.
The green line representing brain waves suddenly began to tremble violently. Its waveform turned sharp and chaotic, its frequency skyrocketing far beyond the range of normal Genetic Warriors or even severely injured patients.
Immediately afterward, his heart rate, blood pressure, and adrenaline levels broke through the red alert thresholds. Piercing alarms erupted in both the cell and the central monitoring station!
"Detention Area, Monitoring Cell Three! The target is showing an extreme abnormal physiological response!"
The monitor's voice carried shock as he immediately notified the guards and the medical emergency team.
But everything happened too quickly.
Inside the cell, Scarface King, who had been secured to the medical bed, suddenly opened his eyes.
There was no trace of human reason left in those eyes. Only violence, chaos, and a crimson glow forcibly planted within him, burning away the very source of his life.
"Urgh... AAAAAAH—!!!"
An inhuman roar, mixed with pain and the desire for destruction, burst from the depths of his throat. The sound waves made the entire cell hum.
Crack! Snap!
The specialized bandages and restraints wrapped around him, strong enough to bind a B-rank Genetic Warrior, were forcibly torn apart by a madly expanding force from within!
The unhealed wounds on his limbs and torso instantly split open, but what flowed out was not ordinary blood. It was a thick, asphalt-like fluid mixed with dark-purple points of energy.
His body began to undergo a horrifying mutation.
His muscles swelled wildly as if inflated, stretching his skin transparent and cracked, exposing the writhing, proliferating dark-red tumor tissue beneath, gleaming with a metallic luster.
His bones let out teeth-grinding creaks as they lengthened and warped. His spine pierced through the flesh of his back, forming rows of exposed, vicious bone spurs.
His skull swelled as well. His jaw split apart, and his teeth grew sharp and long, like those of a beast.
The entire process was completed in little more than ten seconds.
The heavily wounded and listless Scarface King was gone. In his place stood a monster nearly three meters tall, covered in tumor-like muscles and bone spurs, radiating a violent, chaotic spiritual pressure.
An Uncontrolled One that had completely lost his reason, catalyzed by Genetic Potion and some kind of external command.
"ROAR—!!!"
Having completed his mutation, Scarface King roared again, his crimson eyes locking onto the alloy door of the cell.
That door, capable of withstanding artillery bombardment, groaned under his frenzied impacts infused with mutated power.
"The target is out of control! Estimated level: B+ to A-! Requesting immediate support from the suppression team! Repeating, requesting immediate support!"
The monitor's voice had turned urgent.
The guards in the underground detention area reacted swiftly. Fully armed awakened guards and automated defensive spirit-pattern arrays activated.
But by the time they reached the corridor outside Cell Three—
BOOM!!!!
The alloy door was blasted completely off, and the warped metal slammed into the opposite wall, embedding itself deep within it.
The monstrous Scarface King charged out, ignoring the barrage of spirit-energy bullets and binding beams raining down on him.
Most of those attacks left only shallow marks on his mutated body, infuriating him further instead.
He casually grabbed a guard who rushed forward and tore him apart along with his armor as though ripping paper. Blood splashed across the pale walls.
Cruel, efficient, utterly inhuman.
He was not killing without purpose.
Those crimson eyes seemed to be carrying out some command rooted deep within his consciousness.
He destroyed the detention systems and locks along the way, blasting open cell after cell with brute force or the corrosive energy fluid he sprayed out!
"Come out! All of you, come out!"
A muffled roar squeezed out through his distorted vocal cords, yet it seemed to carry a sense of temptation and command.
The imprisoned criminals—from black-market thugs to fallen rich second-generation heirs like Li Fu—
Were stunned at first. Then, driven by their survival instincts and inspired by the terrifying "example" before them, they flooded madly out of their cells, seizing guards' weapons or using their own abilities, strong or weak, to create even greater chaos.
The detention area instantly became a hell of riots and slaughter.
After creating enough chaos and releasing most of the prisoners, the monstrous Scarface King turned his crimson eyes toward the passage leading upward.
There, amid the shrill alarms, stronger suppression forces were rushing over.
But he seemed to have received a higher-priority command.
He suddenly turned away. Rather than tangling with the approaching Special Affairs Bureau elites, he used his massive body as a battering ram and slammed viciously into a relatively weak emergency pipeline wall on the side of the detention area!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After a series of impacts, the wall cracked and collapsed.
He had forcibly smashed open a passage through the sturdy underground fortress of the Special Affairs Bureau, leading into the complex underground pipe network outside!
"Stop him!"
Bai Ye arrived just in time to witness the scene. A cold glint flashed in his eyes as the Windflame Spear condensed instantly in his hand. He thrust forward, the blue-flamed spear stabbing straight toward Scarface King's back.
But Scarface King neither dodged nor evaded, taking the blow head-on with his back.
The windflames exploded, blasting the flesh and bone spurs on his back black and scattering them everywhere. Yet he used the force of the impact to smash through the last obstruction even more fiercely. His massive body squeezed deep into the dark pipeline, leaving behind only a trail of thick purple blood and lingering mad roars.
"After him!" Bai Ye's face darkened as he immediately led people in pursuit.
But alarm bells were ringing in his mind—Scarface King's actions were far too purposeful. This did not seem like mere madness.
And just as the underground detention area erupted into chaos, it was as if some synchronized switch had been flipped—

Across Youcheng, screams and chaos erupted in multiple locations at once!
In the old western district, a porter who had secretly injected himself with a "Basic Strength Potion" at home suddenly smashed through his own wall and rushed onto the street. His body swelled and mutated as he began attacking pedestrians indiscriminately.
Near the university district, a student who had used black-market medicine in pursuit of "agility enhancement" tore apart his roommate in the dormitory, smashed through a window, and leaped down. He turned into a bloodthirsty afterimage racing across the campus.
In the southern suburban warehouse district, several black-market gang members who had used potions went mad at the same time, slaughtering one another and attacking every living thing in sight. They ignited the dangerous goods in the warehouses, and flames shot into the sky.
In an upscale apartment in the eastern district, one of Li Fu's "friends" also mutated at home, turning his luxurious apartment into a bloody slaughterhouse...
These places appeared scattered, but they had one thing in common: their occupants had all recently obtained and used unknown "Genetic Potions" or "enhancers" through secret channels.
At this moment, the "time bombs" hidden within their bodies—the Heartworms concealed within the Genetic Potions—were activated simultaneously.
Dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of Uncontrolled Ones appeared, mutated, and wreaked havoc throughout Youcheng like evil spirits pouring out of the gates of hell.
Screams, explosions, crashes, and howls... tore apart the night's silence in an instant.
The city's Spirit-Pattern Defense System activated passively, with protective barriers lighting up in certain areas. But in the face of attacks erupting simultaneously across the city, it faltered for a time.
Public security forces and Special Affairs Bureau field agents were all urgently mobilized, but the chaos spread like a plague.
Panic, like a tangible thick fog, began rising and gathering in every corner of the city.
And this was not happening only in Youcheng.
In Harbor City, howls and explosions erupted from the slums near the port and the back rooms of certain bars.
In Rock Abyss City, mutated figures leaped through the firelight in underground rat tunnels and abandoned factory districts.
In Yunmeng Marsh City, bloody waves splashed up from fishing boats and waterside shantytowns.
In every city where the Psychologist or his organization had once planted "potion seeds," the dormant "patients" all suffered their "relapses" at this very moment.
Youcheng, atop an abandoned radio and television tower.
Qing Wuyan—or rather, the Psychologist wearing the skin of a young man—stood quietly in the fierce night wind.
He looked down at the ever-brightening fires below, the clouds of smoke bursting into the air, and the panic, despair, and madness rising like a black tide—emotions invisible to the naked eye, yet ones he could sense with perfect clarity.
None of his usual disguised expressions remained on his face. There was only a pure, almost divine indifference and pleasure.
The corners of his mouth slowly rose, forming a cold and perfect curve.
He spread his arms as though intending to embrace the city groaning in agony.
"What a... wonderful melody."
He murmured softly.
Deep within his eyes were no longer human pupils, but swirling vortices as profound as cosmic nebulae.
The fear rising throughout the city seemed drawn by an invisible net, transforming into streams of gray-black air visible only to him. They crossed space and converged upon him madly, pouring into the vortices in his eyes.
He was absorbing the Emotional Power brewed from the pain and terror of countless people.
This was one of the ultimate goals behind his scheme.
Ordinary cultivation—accumulating spiritual power and comprehending Laws—placed far too many demands on talent, resources, and time.
But he, the Psychologist, had found another path.
He delved into the deepest darkness of the human heart, controlled emotions, and used them as a more direct, more violent source of power.
Create large-scale panic, trigger tides of extreme negative emotions, then at the peak of those emotions, exploit the unique nature of his ability to plunder, devour, and refine them, using them as fuel to break into a higher realm!
"Not enough... I need more..."
He closed his eyes and fully activated that dangerous, bizarre ability.
His aura began to rise and transform at an astonishing speed.
The barrier of the Demigod Realm had long since loosened. Now, under the impact of the torrent-like Emotional Power, it shattered with a thunderous crash as he stepped toward the profound and mysterious Law Realm.
He intended to use this night, this feast of terror across multiple cities that he had personally orchestrated, to condense his own Emotional Law in one stroke and ascend into the realm of human myth!
The city was burning, and living beings wailed in agony.
And this was the grandest, cruelest sacrificial rite of the Psychologist's ascension ritual.
Atop the tower, his figure gradually blurred and twisted within the converging flood of negative emotions, as though merging with the terror of the entire city.
A majesty and evil that made souls tremble began to spread.
Inside the Special Affairs Bureau, they had only just barely suppressed the detention-area riot. Though some prisoners were still on the run and Scarface King's whereabouts were unknown, they now had no choice but to confront the citywide Uncontrolled One crisis, which had erupted on a scale far beyond expectations.
Director Liu and Bai Ye, overwhelmed and frantic, both sensed at almost the same moment the terrifying spiritual pressure gathering wildly above the city, filling them with extreme unease.
The source of that spiritual pressure was filled with chaos, malice, and greedy suction of all living beings' emotions.
"Find him!"
Director Liu snarled into the communicator, his eyes bloodshot. "No matter the cost, interrupt him!"
Bai Ye looked toward the television tower. The Windflame Spear in his hand let out a sharp tremble, an instinctive reaction upon encountering ultimate danger and evil.
"Law Realm... He actually wants to use this method..." Bai Ye gritted his teeth, knowing the situation had reached its most dangerous edge.
If the Psychologist successfully advanced into the Law Realm, his threat level would rise exponentially. All of Youcheng, perhaps even a far wider area, could become his emotional pasture!
Meanwhile, Hua Yin had just killed two Uncontrolled Ones on the street with his team and rescued a group of civilians.
He raised his head. The Pale Bewitching Butterfly beat its wings uneasily on his shoulder, and he too sensed that power sucking in the city's suffering, a force that instinctively filled him with revulsion and dread.
The direction from which that power came... vaguely carried a trace of the bottomless coldness he had once felt behind the false warmth in the beef noodle shop.
Qing Wuyan...
No. The Psychologist.
Never had battle felt so urgent.
Never had disaster been so clear and terrifying.
Youcheng's night sky was dyed a strange dark red by the flames and the gradually forming storm clouds of Law.
