Background
Legend identifies Mordred as King Arthur's child and the rebel knight who brought the King of Knights' legend to its end. She accepts Chloe's summoning because she wants to prove to Artoria that she deserves to be king. 10
Her early wish is not merely to seize the throne: she wants Artoria's recognition and wishes she could share the burdens Artoria carried as king. Su Ning exposes these motivations during a wager, forcing Mordred to admit them. 19
Mordred initially believes defeating Artoria in battle will prove her worthiness. When she gains the upper hand over Artoria, however, victory leaves her hollow and regretful rather than satisfied. 36
Appearance
Mordred commonly appears in red-and-white full armor, with a visor that can close over her face. She fights with the King's Sword, later referred to as the Radiant King's Sword. 20 566
- Crimson magical lightning surrounds her when she activates Mana Burst or releases her Noble Phantasm. 20 568
- Her armored combat appearance is imposing enough to make Jeanne immediately wary despite already knowing her equipment and skills. 566
- Outside battle, she accepts casual modern clothing after initially being irritated during a Fuyuki shopping trip. 18
Personality
Mordred is irreverent, roguish, confrontational, and intensely proud. She responds poorly to condescension, challenges opponents directly, and favors head-on combat over cautious withdrawal. 10 26
Her pride is closely tied to her need for Artoria's acknowledgment. This fixation can make her reckless, such as when she threatens Fuyuki City to force Artoria into an all-out Noble Phantasm clash. Su Ning is able to stop her only by invoking Mordred's promise and challenging her honor. 37
Despite her aggression, Mordred values martial honor and respects worthy opponents. She condemns Medusa's perceived lack of honor, declines to interfere with Karna's honorable death, and comes to recognize that strength also requires conviction and a strong heart. 48 585
After confronting Shakespeare's illusion of her past, Mordred abandons her obsession with replacing Artoria. She accepts Artoria as the rightful king, regrets not helping her sooner, and wishes for Artoria to have a life beyond kingship. 588 590
Abilities & Skills
Mana Burst
Mordred channels magical energy as crimson lightning to amplify her physical performance.
- Raises her speed beyond Medusa's despite Mordred lacking a natural Agility advantage from her original Class. 20
- Enables explosive charges, powerful melee strikes, and sustained pressure against multiple opponents. 20 570
- Its output becomes overwhelming under Illya's mana supply, with the released energy alone able to drive back Jeanne and restrict Mash's movement. 567 570
Magic Resistance and Dragon Factor
As Artoria's child, Mordred possesses the Dragon Factor and initially has Rank B Magic Resistance. 21
- Endures Medusa's Petrification Magic Eye long enough to continue her assault. 21
- Her later enhanced resistance negates Jeanne's attempt to control her through Command Spells. 568
- Her Dragon Factor is also cited as a reason for her appetite rivaling Artoria's. 18
Martial Skill and Intuition
Mordred is an accomplished Knight of the Round Table whose close-combat skill is considered not far below Artoria's. 20
- Overwhelms Medusa in melee and forces her to rely on range, Petrification, and Command Spell reinforcement. 20 21
- Uses battle-honed, beast-like intuition to penetrate Semiramis's defenses despite poison, teleportation, and the Hanging Gardens. 585
- Receives copied martial experience from Illya during her duel with Siegfried, allowing her to rapidly comprehend new techniques and reverse the duel. 577
- Defeats Achilles in an unarmed combat domain through superior parameters, inherited talent, and combat intuition. 586
Excalibur Morgan / “Crimson Lightning”
Mordred's primary Noble Phantasm is an A+-rank Anti-Army attack released through her King's Sword. It manifests as a colossal pillar or blade of crimson lightning. 49 568 569
- Defeats Medusa's Bellerophon in a direct Noble Phantasm clash, though Zouken teleports Medusa away before she can be finished. 22 23
- Is strengthened by Chloe's Command Spell during the later battle with Medusa. 48
- Breaks through the Black Shadow's defense and defeats Medea despite her teleportation attempt. 49
- Cannot breach Jeanne's My Lord Is Here barrier, as its A+ rank defines its upper limit even when reinforced with abundant mana and Command Spells. 569
Excalibur
After resolving her inner conflict, Mordred manifests and wields Excalibur alongside her crimson lightning. 591
- Its golden light destroys Amakusa Shirou Tokisada's Command Spell-amplified black hole. 591
- Its power rises infinitely when facing a threat driven by an obsession dangerous to humanity. 591

Trivia
