Background / History

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village with his father, Tang Hao, the village blacksmith. At six, he was already cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill but had been unable to pass its first bottleneck for three months. He hoped Martial Soul awakening would explain the obstacle 4 5. The test revealed Blue Silver Grass and Innate Full Soul Power. Later that day, he privately showed Tang Hao his second Martial Soul, the Clear Sky Hammer 6 18.

Holy Soul Village had only one work-study place at Notting City Junior Soul Master Academy. After Tang Hao first rejected the opportunity and then demanded it for his son, Chu Chen offered Tang San the place in exchange for three conditions to be specified later. Tang San swore a cultivation-threatening oath to honor the bargain. Chu Chen immediately used the first condition to demand that Tang San take a punch, leaving him with four broken bones and slight internal bleeding 17 19 21 23.

Tang San eventually enrolled at Notting and became Yu Xiaogang’s disciple. Tang Hao entrusted Yu with his training and instructed him to keep the Clear Sky Hammer secret until Tang San could protect himself 36 37. At the academy, Tang San’s clashes with Chu Chen continued. After gaining his first Soul Ring, he challenged Chu Chen while defending Yu Xiaogang and lost again 75 76.

At six, Tang San has short black hair and wears simple, clean clothes. Later at the academy, he wears blue fighting clothes 5 75.

Personality

Tang San guards information about his strength, following the Tang Sect principle of concealing his abilities from people he does not fully trust. He revealed the Clear Sky Hammer to his father but not to Old Jack or the villagers 18. He is deeply attached to Tang Hao and defended him even when Old Jack challenged his treatment of Tang San 17 18.

His rivalry with Chu Chen is marked by pride and persistent resentment. He interpreted the village children’s distance as rejection, despite having turned down their attempts at friendship, and repeatedly blamed Chu Chen for his setbacks 5 8 29. He is also fiercely loyal to Yu Xiaogang, challenging Chu Chen after the latter mocked his teacher 75 76.
