Background
Early life and the Golden Saber Sect
After a frail scholar’s son died, Zhou Yi occupied the body, sold its ancestral land, and traveled to Guo Bei County. He paid the Golden Saber Sect’s entry fee and began training in the Primordial Chaos Stance under Chen Hong. 1 2
He claimed that bandits from Black Wind Mountain had killed his father, Zhou Ye, and committed himself to martial arts for revenge. His exceptional progress secured him formal discipleship under Chen Hong, while Chen Xiangyan recognized him as a rare martial genius. 3
Within half a year, Zhou Yi perfected the Primordial Chaos Stance, mastered multiple saber and palm arts, and surpassed the other Golden Saber disciples. He later married Chen Jinyu through a Chen-family alliance, but declared that he would preserve his primordial yang for an Innate breakthrough rather than consummate the marriage. 4 8
Sword cultivation and Kunlun inheritance
Zhou Yi recovered Xiahou the Swordsman’s legacy, obtaining the Xiahou Sword Scripture and the first-rank Purple Sun Sword Qi Scripture. He used Origin to perfect the latter, gaining sword qi and dramatically accelerating his meridian breakthroughs. 7 10 12
After meeting Yan Chixia at Lanruo Temple, he traded cultivation knowledge for sword-control teachings. Yan Chixia accepted him into the Kunlun lineage as a twenty-fourth-generation disciple and vice sect master. 13
On Earth, Zhou Yi adopted the identities Chi Xiaozi and Daoist Chixiao, taught martial and cultivation methods, recruited disciples, and developed Kunlun Sect around Peach Blossom Mountain. He later formalized the sect into five lineages with dedicated peaks, resources, and chief disciples. 30 232
Chaotic Star Sea and demonic cultivation
Through the Gateway to Myriad Wonders, Zhou Yi entered the Chaotic Star Sea as a Spirit Turtle Other Self with a third-grade Water Spiritual Root. He acquired the fifth-grade Profound Yin Scripture, perfected it through Origin, and built the forty-nine-banner Profound Yin Soul Gathering Array. 73 74 103
He cultivated Dragon Blood Grass for decades, transformed his Spiritual Turtle bloodline into a Dragon Turtle, and received the Baxia Dragon Transformation Scripture. 145
Zhou Yi fought in the destruction of Heavenly Star Palace, refined the Primordial Magnetic Divine Light, subdued or negotiated with major demon powers, and became influential enough that the Human Realm’s demons later recognized him as their leader. 164 166 188
Great Zhou Immortal Court
A later Other Self possessed the sickly body of Great Zhou’s Crown Prince of Han, sealed the original soul, and retained his Nascent Soul and cultivation knowledge. 203
After defeating Imperial Preceptor Xuanyuan, Zhou Yi forced Emperor Zhou Ye to abdicate and took the throne. He used the Heart-Questioning Technique to expose corrupt officials, founded an Immortal Court, and used its national resources to fuel cultivation and expansion. 209 210 211 218
Yellow Springs Holy Cult
Another Other Self entered the Yellow Springs Holy Cult after Kuron God Monarch discovered his superior Wood Spiritual Root. He returned to the Zhou family with a Yellow Springs Token, protected his younger sister Zhou Nian’s exceptional spiritual roots, and brought her toward the Holy Cult. 339 341
Within Black Wind Valley, Zhou Yi built a reputation as an artifact-crafting prodigy. He refined fourth- through sixth-tier treasures, collected Five Elements essences for the Five Spirits True Body, and rose from “Yellow Springs Holy Cult’s Number One Boaster” to a feared chief disciple. 351 353 355 362
Appearance
In his Guo Bei incarnation, Zhou Yi appears as a tall, slender young man of roughly twenty, with ordinary features, warm jade-like complexion, a green-pine bearing, and clear yet abyss-deep eyes. 15
- His stance training transformed an initially frail scholar’s body into a broad-shouldered, bronze-skinned martial physique. 2 3
- He can alter his form through the Appearance and Bone Changing Art, once posing as the nearly seven-foot-tall, bald, dark-faced Guardian Deity Lu Sheng. 66
- His Dragon Turtle form bears a dragon’s head, claws, tail, golden scales, and a dark-green shell marked by golden patterns. 145
Personality
Zhou Yi treats cultivation as a survival problem. He prepares extensively, values superior resources and information, and considers any advantage meaningful in a life-or-death struggle. 58 166
He is ruthlessly pragmatic toward threats. He prefers eliminating enemies before they can retaliate, as shown when he annihilated the Desheng Ward Chief’s family after their plot against him. 372 His violence is not indiscriminate: he spared Mr. Ghost in exchange for the Ghost Path inheritance and left Li Feiyang to the Investigation Bureau rather than kill him. 125 225
As a teacher and sect master, Zhou Yi is demanding but useful to those who prove their worth. He shares techniques, gives disciples access to resources, and organizes Kunlun primarily as a system for collecting cultivation materials and developing capable subordinates. 67 197 232
