Chen Jinyu was born into the Chen family of the Golden Saber Sect. Chen Hong, Zhou Yi's martial-arts master, was her biological uncle; she was three years younger than Zhou Yi. Her marriage to him was arranged as an alliance between Zhou Yi and the Chen family. 8

On their wedding night, Zhou Yi candidly explained that he intended to preserve his primordial yang for cultivation and that the marriage had been made to obtain the Chen family's internal cultivation method. Chen Jinyu accepted the arrangement with unusual maturity, having seen her sisters married off for family interests. She took responsibility for household affairs, while Zhou Yi gave the Chen family the Xiahou Sword Scripture and True Sword Dao Method as repayment. 8

After learning Zhou Yi's distillation method, Chen Jinyu turned Immortal's Brew into a highly profitable enterprise. She established Immortal's Pavilion as a dedicated trading venue, introduced anonymous bidding, and used the Golden Saber Sect's influence to expand rapidly. Within half a year, she had become a formidable businesswoman capable of outmaneuvering veteran merchants. 10 11

Her enterprise later developed into the Immortal Wine House, Wine God Trading Company, Wine God Farm, and Taibai Tower. The Chen family's business affected at least a million livelihoods across the southern prefectures, giving her influence comparable to Crown Prince Li Zhu. 45

After decades apart from Zhou Yi, Chen Jinyu became the Chen Family's aged but imposing matriarch and adopted Zhou Nian as her grandson. She reunited with Zhou Yi after sixty years, refused the life-extending Condensing Jade Bead, and chose to remain the head of the Chen Family rather than pursue longevity through him.
